I would also like to seed these items out that way, although I don't know how a delicate trigger assembly would survive a week inside a Gorax or Krayt stomach.

They finally figured out a way to make the Imperial Crackdown on sliced weapons effective...rofl

But seriously. This sounds very bad. I assume the weapons still have damage caps on them, so you can't raise the slice percentages anyway because it will tell us we can't slice the weapon.

I think a better idea is to tighten the grip on the crackdown. I have not been stopped and searched by a ST in ages, and I'm a Rebel Colonel. Silly.

Make the slices component free. Add a risk for carrying sliced weapons.

Just a random thought in this line of... thought. Higher quality slices require tools made of rare components and are more likely to cause a player to fail a scan.A smalladjustment is less noticible than a major overhaul.

I like the idea of smugglers doing smuggling missions for the higher end components. Why not make them attainable through difficult smuggling missions rather than a high end dungeon. The game allready depends too much on the loot system. A decent repeatable quest system would be nice for once.

I think the loot idea is a bad idea honestly. Sure random loot drops are fine. Special weapons great. But I know with weaponsmithing it was getting where you couldn't make anything sellable without some form of loot, after a while it just wasn't fun anymore. People may complain about depending on crafters, but depending on pro-looters is just as bad (or worse). In the end the results should depend on the skill of the proffession not the luck of the loot.

I'd like to add that I feel the loot component will make the smuggler profession undesirable to many players, like myself, who don't enjoy collecting loot. I really don't want to drive players away from this profession- we aren't jedi. Smuggler should be an accessible profession to all players of all playstyles- not just those hardcore players who enjoy camping spawns.

Please! Give all of the components to crafters, like as's and as's. The crafters are desperate for some love and I think they deserve it. I know problem being dependent on other professions- but I have a HUGE problem with being dependent on loot. HUGE, HUGE, HUGE problem with it.

SWG should promote interdependency between professions, as it is it's strongest aspect. Loot's just lame and flashy and won't get this game anywhere.

I have a constructive suggestion that I think most smugglers would like-

How about instead of making these slicing components lootable, put an NPC in Jabba's that would give an endless supply of missions, such as the missions terminals, but instead of the reward being credits we get one of said components. That way there's absolutely no spawn camping, negative competition, and it requires effort instead of luck. And we're sure to get the reward for our efforts every time.

What do you think?

Here's how i see this, Loot drops for Smugglers will be the next big thing on the trade forums.

The only Smugglers who will be able to get these componants will be the ones with alot of high lvl friends and the big guilds. Because these will be desirable items the price of them will make them unacheavable to most casual players & result in even more of an unbalance toward them.

Only the rich will be able to afford to buy them, they'll have the better weapons and thus more of a chance surviving these very hard area's of the game.

In a nut shell New Smuggler should be warned that unless they make friends with the Uber (i hate that word butcant think of anythingelse that fits atm) Hunters thay will NEVER be able to user skills thay have in there proffesion. Kinda sux that Smuggler will need high lvl loot to use a skill thay have earned.

This would be like making Krayt Tissue a required componant for Weaponsmiths or Loot cores required for Armoursmiths

I feel sorry for all the Smugglers out there that hung onto the mainly usless skills waiting patiently(ok shouting as loud as the could)for some Dev luv

WHAT!!!????!!!!

Are you out of your freaking minds?

DWB and Vette for loot drops to slice with, I can't believe you would come up with such crap, and believe me that is what it is!

Glad I saved that last respec to drop smuggler, that I have had for almost two years.

I cannot believe the stupidity of this idea!

Honestly, hunting for high end loot drops is why I quit WoW and returned to SWG. I will drop smuggler if this change is implemented.

It may be time for Wes to apply that magic, Coro-Filter to sift the constructive comments and ideas from this thread for GM. I certainly wouldn't want to have to wade through the gripe-posts if I were him.

Oh yeah, and smugglers, seem to be loners, character wise.

I kind of hate how slowly everything is being shifted towards combat. There use to be much more balance between combat, non-combat, and semi-combat proffesions.

Thank you GreenMarine for clarifying some of the issues with the new slicing systems.

When I first looked at the tread with the announcement of “plan B”. I was dead set against it. I still haven’t seen any real good reasons to support it. I don’t like the idea of loot drops at all.

I can live with them though.

Make them rare enough that they don’t impact the everyday game. As long as I can make a slice as a Master Smuggler for some Average Joe and still have it be a benefit without the piece of uber loot, I will be content. If a loot drop will give a 20% increase in damage, let me make a 10% increase with no loot drop. Make sure that as a Master Smuggler I can do as well or better with no add on items then someone with Slicing 4 and a loot item.

I am not going to go hunting after rare items from difficult places. I accept that there will be those who do who will be able to slice better then I will. It is a price I am willing to pay to play the game the way I want. Just please don’t cut me out all together.

Think of the loot items as tissues for weapon smith. They can make a perfectly usable gun without them, but with them you have something really great. I want the mid level market where most people play. I want to be able to help someone out without having to charge 100k+ per slice.

Please let Master Smugglers be able to slice without loot items, just at a reduced rate.
