What would I ask the Devs?

1) Why do I make such a small difference in combat compared to the amount of defensive and offensive abilities I give up?

2) Will we ever add to state defenses or root/snare resistances?

3)Could we please add 5 to overall combat speed as a SL? It's not overpowering, but is noticeable to a group.... espeically when they don't have doctor buffs available.

4) Why don't I get the benefits of Retreat as a SL? IfI use retreat in combat to chase down runners, I get left in the dust.

5) I have never used 'boost morale' more than once except to get wounds onto the TKAs to heal up. Will this skill ever have a practical use?

6) What do the Devs want to see from the SL profession in combat? Our role is 'leaders' as it is, but we don't really get much of a chance to assert ourselves as such except for being the purple dot to the group since we don't add much in the way of actual leadership.

A few more questions, but these will be good for now.

Peeps can spend 4 pages of posts trolling about "communication," which I agree is a general issue with all things SWG and SOE, but when a correspondent asks for input, you might want to give something constructive, LOL, as this person I'm quoting did.

At the least, post links to thoughts that had been gathered up already (as I'm sure there are,) and also take the time to keep the content of the links relevant, as in up to date with life post-CU and post-latest publishes. Keep it fresh and relevant. Trolling about communication may send yet another message to SOE, but it does the SL's no good.

===================SIG================
Management change and credibility is expected & deserved, and really a requirement for me to desire to log in and not have my MMORPG time completely wasted. SWG's mismanagement, ongoing, lacks credibility. I have no desire to log into my toon, attempt to accomplish something, only to find out that my blue zebra, 12th level, with 20 badges, isn't going to be turned into tomorrow's 4th tier yellow monkey, and all the zebra's stuff is no longer of value. Without credibility, its just a duck hunt game that doesn't even keep score of how many shots land on a duck.

Um...so all powerful Troll, have we missed something they've given us to actually IMPROVE the profession? Oh wait...they did, they took away /formup for PvP. This is debateable though, but I have not seen anything that actually improves our use to the game or the GCW. So yes, a couple of the links may be outdated, but when they take stuff away rather than add, I will say that the links that have been posted a while back ARE still valid. Oh, I did miss one...."The squad leader /boostMorale command should now work a little better when the group has a very small number of wounds" Well, with all the damn fools out to get the pathetic Jedi slot, doesn't seem to help. Oh, here's a big one for us "Next professsion field in skills window enlarged to show 7 entries, to support Marksman->Squad Leader" or this "Profession: Squad Leader /formup will no longer remove Dizzy and/or Stun from team members involved in PvP. Squad Leader buffs should show up as buff icons to group members. The on-screen retreat message will display properly.
Squad Leader experience requirements should no longer require incorrect skill branches. Squad Leader profession requirements should now be accurately reflected in the skills window (CTRL-S)" All that from 2005? Nothing from 2004. October 24, 2003-Changed Squad Leader XP to be scaled based on the group size. October 31, 2003-Changed Squad Leader XP to be based on total combat related XP earned by group not just Combat XP.

All of this is from the Publish Archives. So, yeah, none of our out-of-date ideas and suggestions are valid. Okay, sure, you keep thinking that.

Sorry ...
You must be kidding.
Your first post is missing any contribution to the thread at all (werent you complaining about that?).
And in your second post your missed the whole point of
  • Why we complain about communciation.

  • Why I then posted all those links.

And probadly didnt even bothered to read them ALL. (oh ... and it didnt contributed to the issue too)

To Tiggs: if it should ever happen that you really read this thread sorry Im repeating myself over and over again, I think it should be clear at least to you now what our main issues are, so here we go again:

    Focus the communication

Here I get twice fun out:
    (a) Squad Leader issues at the star wars wiki, now where is your contribution?
    (b) Communication? What communication? The DEVs said: they dont know what to do with us, although we have numerous threads (see above) PRE and POST CU here and one in the in_concept forum before they deleted .. oh sorry moved it to archive. If just one of the DEVs had cared to browse this forum, .. but they didnt.

Now so in case you still didnt got it

Squad Leader Issues at the Star Wars Wiki

thx for

your suggestion

I wish correspondents had the ability to delete single post so they could throw out all that crap and streamline the threads stripping them from all that useless garbage some ppl tend to post

Good friend, C-Troll here, I guess, LOL. Here's the executive summary:

Upon following DevTracker to see what the Devs are up to, as it is sometimes informative to see how devs respond and communicate, I was presented with 4 pages of Trolls trolling about lack of communication in response to a request for dev-consideration info.

Of course, as any half-squill knows, communication is an issue, which is why, redundant, I was following DevTracker in the first place.So,4 pages of communication-troll-posts later, I was no better informed on what the issues were, and how a dev (if presented with issues rather than communication complaints) might respond in the latest itteration of dev behavior.

I did, to be constructive, and having spent the time to read each post, mention to the folks that they might have used the time more constructively, so if that in itself served some purpose, it was time well spent.

Heh, yeah, we've had one of those way back in the day when Publish 10 was slated to be the SL Revamp.

SL Revamp

Aside from Troll postings and other non sl postings (since this was an SL thread), I think that we've got agood amount of information wants and stuff to give them, if they'll just listen. But more questions are always needed. Different ones. Not the same ones. I know that the regular SL posters like myself and you Loki as well as Scout, Sylow, Darth, KJFett3 and last and certainly not least, Kharast (since I did nominate him for a sticky :smileyhappy among a few others dedicated to the profession, hopefully with all the information we've contributed to as of late they'll actually listen to us and not forget about us again. (They left us out of the marksman tree for crying out loud! They fixed it but still! :smileysad I'll try and contribute more as I have offered with the new FAQ.

Another question for the devs, what about a craftable SL rifle a lot of us aren't pistoleers or carbineers (I myself am a Carbineer, but have been considering mastering rifleman as well as the other two, which I have done already.)? Mind you, this would mean that we'd have to get rid of the pistol xp and go back to the much prefered SL xp, that you changed for some strange reason. Every other question that I can think of, I know has been asked in one of the mentioned threads.

1. I like the idea of the questionare you recommend.

2.I don't think you can effectively exclude yourself from the trolls given prior posts we have been envolved in....nor can you exclude yourself from the flamers.

3. Posts that are designed to help the Squad Leaders are never worthless as they are opinions by SLs for what they would like to see. (that comment of yours would go back to #2 above)

4. Most Squad Leaders don't post because only about 15% of the community reads the boards..regardless of profession or activity on their own profession forum.

Flmae/Troll me if you want...you only confirm what I say. Good idea on teh qusetionare though. Would be nice to see something come in from the majority of a profession....even if they don't have time to post it here.

Dear Crizis,
Thank you for you opinion on how the Squad Leaders should run their Forum. Your original post on this thread in regards to the subject was most insightful and will likely move the community lightyears ahead in Dev/Community relations. Had you only stopped by and posted first so that we could all have seen the right way to do it. I am sure that when your many Squad Leader ideas are put into the game, we will all want you to be the new Corro.
Now as you leave, please remember that we the SL forums will manage to go on without you. It will be difficult, it will be a challange without your leadership, but we will strive tostand up under the great yoke you have carried this entire time and strive to meet the standard you have greated.
I would also ask that you head on over to the Smuggler, Ranger, Droid Engineer, Commando and Architect Forums and help them on their long voyages. I am sure they could use your help as well.
Respectfully,
Your humble Squad Leader.
PS..oh wait..that's right...you didn't post anything but a flame about people wanting communication...well, I am glad you were here to keep us from wasting valuable time. We might of accidentally led the devs to believe they needto communicate more.
Its sad that the SL forums can't even get a break from these guys so that we can discuss what we the Squad Leaders need.
And to the devs....My personal favorite...
What is a Squad Leader? - the 411 for us and the Devs
Yeah...I know,I am a biased.

hmm...that comment was meant for the many that have work all daythen play the gameand simply don't have time to get on the boards. It would be nice to get feedback from them as well. Not sure how that is bad...or did you take that personally? That comment wasn't directed at you.

Really? We've been really clear on the issue: We don't know what direction the Devs what to take our profession. Aka, Communication. Now, we could have posted dozens of posts asking for this bug to be fixed or this special to work a little better or to have a special that does that or to have an SL only this or that. Why didn't we? Because we would like a little more then a few bug fixes, we'd like our profession to be fleshed out a little better. But we don't know the Dev direction, and all of those requests are junk if they don't follow the Dev vision for our prof and thus are tossed in the circular file right away. You were presented with a post linking lots of concepts we have, more likely then not as you browse them you will notice the dozens of different concepts that we've followed.

We could sit here and post all sorts of cool ideas, but those ideas end up all over the board because we don't know where to focus. For many of us, our main issue keeps coming back to the fact that we don't know what the Devs want to do with us, and apparently neither do they and thus I'll reiterate my initial post in response to Darth's question:

What is your vision for Squad Leader? What can we the SL community do to help further SL towards that vision? If you don't have a vision (or any freaking clue of what to do with us), what can we the SL community do that we are not already doing to help form a vision?

There are my three questions. For me, until those are answered and known, there really isn't much productive that can be accomplished to improve our profession besides the odd bug fix. You want to know the issue, that is our issue, take a moment to reflect on that.
