I agree with the vehicle passives too, would add some nice mods to the mobility tree.

Yo, Troll! The Devs havedirectly and plainlystated they have no idea what to do with the Squad Leader profession andno clue what direction to take our profession. This isdispite numerous well thought and well expressed idea / concept threads on this forum, having an excellent correspondantwho brings our issues to the Correspondant board, awesome correspondants from other professions helping with the fight, and a sizable article on the SWGwiki with ideas and concepts. No need to rehash those ideas into this thread when we already have them well laid out. And yet the Devs have no idea what to do with us? I'm sorry sir troll, but communication IS our main issue at this point!

A great addon would be to let SL merge two normal sized groups in one. This way a SL will give players a way to have bigger groups. Handy for RAIDS (PvP) and dungeons (DWB...)








I was leading a full group of 8 last night, and a friend of one person wanted to join (who happened to be a much needed Master Doc), and half the group was estatic saying "Yeah, we've got a MSL leading, we can have up to 10 people in the group!" It was very painful to inform them that we can not lead any more people then non-SLs.

No matter what we can't increase the group size because of balancing issues. But then again we should be able to make "platoons".



Squad Leader doesn't need a complete revamp, but reworking and additions to our skill trees.



What needs to be added:



Platoons aka Raiding parties

Group Waypoints

Sound with the /sys command

Perhaps a shuttle recall

Possible radar jamming aka group cover ability

SL only crowd control skill - Cover Fire

Artillery strikes? if not then put those into the GCW



What needs to be modified:



Rally - Possibly make an improved version of this that someone has mentioned in this forum


Boost Morale - Get rid of the spreading wounds, its obsolete


Steady aim - Since we already have an accuracy buff, why not make steady aim a 15-20 buff increasing the chance for party members to land "critical hits" on targets. Make the SEA that a lot of us still have useful.


Volley fire - Make the SEA useful, possibly making volleyfire increase accuracy and damage by 25%


Retreat - Add defensive modifiers with the burst run but also lower accuracy and/or damage.


Passives - Increase ranged/melee defense modifiers to 80 at Master SL. Change the SL only accuracy and speed mods to group ones.

funny I was just suggesting this to a friend earlier today... a Critical hit chance buff for 1 shot is pretty uber make it around 20% so on average 2 players in a group get a critical when used. Would add a boost to overall damage that is worth while to have. Keep it on it's timer and it would not be debalancing.


Things to think about

SL Crit buff + crit slice for 15% + BH crit shot 30%? = huge chance that a crit will go off so might be unbalanced that way

I've read every post, and there is maybe 3 small mentions of specific actionable development suggestions or desires. Everything else is a complaint about communication, or one foos' complaint about too many Jedi, LOL. (Almost everyone will have a Jedi, deal with it. Management change and credibility is expected & deserved, and really a requirement for me to desire to log in and not have my MMORPG time completely wasted. SWG's mismanagement, ongoing, lacks credibility. I have no desire to log into my toon, attempt to accomplish something, only to find out that my blue zebra, 12th level, with 20 badges, isn't going to be turned into tomorrow's 4th tier yellow monkey, and all the zebra's stuff is no longer of value. Without credibility, its just a duck hunt game that doesn't even keep score of how many shots land on a duck.

There are so many suggestions and concepts that we can drown the Devs in them, many of them, as Scout showed clearly, are well assembled and ready for presentation. The Devs can admit:



  1. lack of time to go through them

  2. lack of motivation to go through them

  3. a problem of reducing the mass of suggested improvements and concepts to a few which they can actually implement. And even this reduction we already did for them at several places, most significally the top 5 issues.

But the statement that there is a lack of ideas is simply unacceptable and shows that they don't even bother to take a look here or waste a single thought on our profession. If they only give us a little bit of communication, tell us what scope of improvement they'd be ready to do, tell us a rough scale within which our suggestions should be (we have suggestions which can actually be implenented within minutes and we have complete new concepts and everything in between...) and we'd be ready and eager to deliver it all ready and on a silver plate (digital one, but alas...) so their effort would be as little as somehow possible.

/sarcasmon ANOTHER /sarcasmoff question I have is why, that I a Master Squad Leader, can post here and two other forums, that I have and will be hunting until sometime Sunday, and I have only had a total of 3 people in the last 2 days? On my first night, 1 person, they soon logged, last night, I had 2 and they soon logged. Well, this is not a question that I expect an answer to, but food for thought that should tell you Devs that SOMETHING needs to be done.

What would I ask the Devs?


1) Why do I make such a small difference in combat compared to the amount of defensive and offensive abilities I give up?


2) Will we ever add to state defenses or root/snare resistances?


3)Could we please add 5 to overall combat speed as a SL? It's not overpowering, but is noticeable to a group.... espeically when they don't have doctor buffs available.


4) Why don't I get the benefits of Retreat as a SL? IfI use retreat in combat to chase down runners, I get left in the dust.


5) I have never used 'boost morale' more than once except to get wounds onto the TKAs to heal up. Will this skill ever have a practical use?


6) What do the Devs want to see from the SL profession in combat? Our role is 'leaders' as it is, but we don't really get much of a chance to assert ourselves as such except for being the purple dot to the group since we don't add much in the way of actual leadership.


A few more questions, but these will be good for now.
