Thread: 45% Slices on Weapons
"explain to me why you're not being selfish."
What is more selfish.. not telling people the results of your research? Or demanding that someone give up 6 months worth of work and experimentation and time because you're too lazy to do it yourself
?
I'm too lazy. I'll wait til someone posts the answer ... or I'll just be stuck with mediocre slices. No one on my server claims to know any tricks so i'll just stick with working on master smuggler and getting the best tools I can regardless of whether they seem to help or not.
I'm in agreement with Rudd on this and think there are alot of jealous people who are upset because he has decided not to give full detail of his work. I would like to know as much as everyone else here of course but I fail to see that flaming the guy to death is the most productive approach to the equation. This whole post however does fuel me in figuring this out myself. That is fine, once people start learning and catching on, somebody will let the cat out.
I've checked the screens provided and will take them as legit, if not so be it because I'll only end up trying to achieve the better either way.
I've made very attempt (as many of you have) of using tools of the highest qualities and have yet to see an influence of that magnitude to achieve 40% + slicing.
The spice idea is clever and I'd like to try though I personally doubt your effectivness is enhanced, only your HAM. Everquest played alot along these lines, but I don't think SWG does.
I am curious however after looking at the: http://members.cox.net/klaedsbane/screenShot0003.jpg
There is some broken electronic device in the inventory listing. Grabbing at straws here but I've always been under the impression these artifacts are purely junk and serve no purpose. I would like to think I am wrong. I won't rule anything out on the assumption of items being 'junk'.
I know Rudd dismissed the spice theory and a few others though that does not mean they will not help.
Basically, if all said is true, we know the limits exceed our current abilities and we've yet to max our potential. Knowing that we can is always better then believing we cannot. When the servers are brought back online, I'll be pluggin away on a few ideas.
zeroday,
I have a crafting station in my shop and have done many slices hovering over the thing. I have yet to notice any difference in results I'm afraid.
Xintao,
I tried slicing a number of very high quality weapons while carrying only junk weapons and a broken piece of electronics in my inventory. Either, I didn't do it quite right (I noticed 2 high quality blasters in my pack afterwards) or that was a red herring. Still averaged 25% on slices and got nothing higher than 33%. I sliced on a factory crate of weapons, so I used the same weapon every time.
- hes teh only one who " claims " he can do this. though we know a ton of cheaters have ben workin 24/7 to find loop holes on this. hes lied about a few other things. so in a none flame way as i can put this. why should we believe it. the 40 percent was an obvious photoshop but lets give him the benifiet of the bigggest doubt there is. if he can do it why then have people who are experts in finding exploits cheats and what not been able to do this. it isnt the tools or the wuks as a few of us smugs on kettemoor spent a whole day slicing using cdefs and clamps of any kind then we tried dl44 weapons.
we put them through a whole series of tests and keept a database on slices. we had most master smugs and a handfull of master slicers who hadnt cmpleted master smug because of spice they didnt care for it ![]()
now we used every metal we coudl dig up on knifes wuks and clamps. we prepared by making a crate of each for every person per test cycle . we all sliced teh same type weapons with teh same type tools at the same time and reported our results . we made as many different sets as we coudl possibly think all our miners were mining like crazy for a week and we bought a ton of resources as well. we had a weaponsmith make use all sourts of wuks with as differences and everything now im sure we missed a whole slew out there in fact im sure we didnt tap around a hundredth of teh possibilites of teh resources available to use near coronet at that perticular time but...
there was no real difference in any of teh tools mix matches. we tracked everything from percentages to what skill was updated to see if one type could have more spped then damage range but it all still was fuzy meaning we are no closer to a idea that any of this even matters then before why because it doesnt realy matter, but a lot of people claim it does so until we do more tests we cant be possitive. a few started otu looking like they may be better then the rest to turn out to have just as bad slices as good.
through most of our slicing we hit anywhere from 22 to 29 percent teh most by far there was to my surprise some 32 percentages unfortunatley i never hit higher then 30 myself
and the highest we got was one 34 slice. no 33 at all. the lowest we got was 11 percent.
now that guy says you acnt figure out anything because there is nothing to figure out. then he goes on and saying its simple math
i think the math he does is look at teh percentage and then the simple math comes in to hwo much higher he will tell teh person he sliced it for. so if he got a 30 whats to stop him from telling a person he sliced it at 40. the person will advertise to everyone someone sliced it that high even if it was truely a 30 slice.
however if we are wrong and he really did slice a 40 and 45 then i appologise for this h owever since noones done this and his track record is a bit shady, we think that anything at 40 + is bull..
we are now collecting for a new round next week were we will try having our driods with us , using spice, slicing with our stats allmost none exsistant . that will be the first well fight til we have little to no stats left
because frankly if it is possible then we are determined to find it. now having said that once we do find it we will gladly make public our results
thanks
"I started crafting my knives using a droid and 600 conductive copper, so far i've been in the low thirties on weapons and hit a new personal high of 39% on a chect piece. Maybe it's just luck."
Maybe it's simply having a weapon, armor, and droid crafting module nearby (or a droid with the module). =)
There was a bug reported not long ago that a droid could effectively have an infinite amount of modules installed in it. Makes me wonder why the slicing is going on outside in the middle of nowhere (I think its right outside MegaCorps small group of buildings ? ) Folks discussing droids might have something.
Maybe a droid with multiple crafting stations of the same type ? Is it possible to have multiple crafting modules of the same type in one droid and maybe that is bugged and giving multiple high results ?
This is purely speculation on a subject I am finding interesting. The droid stuff I just posted is almost certainly rubbish.
More saliently, on Eclipse were Rudd is based a series of high Conductivity coppers have been around since week 1. Trimanof is still available (at a price) with cond of 994 and Trinapop isnt far behind with 993 Cond and it is available in tens of thousands of units. I have both.
I have repeatedly found conductivity to outway (into insignificance) any other stat for any electronics related craft (been making PSGs since week 2). It is a matter of course for me to get 99% exp results using this stuff.
I suspect a combination of v high cond copper to make the tools would have a significant impact as it does with other crafting. I also suspect this is only on the lazer knives as stats on WUKs or Clamps dont seem to be as significant. If you are going to cover your bases use it on those also.
Rudd slices constantly for the largest supplier or armour/weapons on the server but the sheer number of those attempts wouldnt explain results which cant be matched by anyone across many servers. A huge supply of high quality copper from those people would begin to explain it (emphasis on begin).
I still think there is something in using some form of spice or food to boost stats (maybe mind ?) while crafting. Without spending many hours recording data while doing it its impossible to tell for sure.
Deion,
What's stopping Rudd from telling somebody he got a 40% slice when he actually got a 30% slice is the fact that anybody with math skills and/or a calculator can call him on it. Checking over on Rudd's server board, I didn't notice a whole lot of people calling him on that facet of his craft. In fact, I saw just the opposite.
Fact: armor slicing caps at 45% and is easily attainable.
Fact: weapon slicing so far seems to cap at 38% (doesn't seem to be a round number, does it?) and those numbers above 35% are not easilty attainable. Hitting above 30% seems to be about as common as hitting above 25% at Slicing IV. It is probably not too much of a stretch to assume that a cap is at 40%, or that maybe there is a cap at 45% that for some reason (maybe linked to the slicing IV bug?) isn't easily attainable.
Assumption that requires validation: maybe one person has figured out a way to work around the bug or glitch that is causing lower weapon slices to occur at Master level, and I would hazard a guess he's given us all the clues we need in his screenshot. (I'm just hoping he answers my questions...it's got to have something to do with those crummy weapons and the piece of junk he's carrying.)
I'll say it again: I don't blame Rudd for not giving away the secret easily, but I think a lot of people reading this thread are frustrated with trying to figure it out. I know I am. If nothing else, Kammi will end up getting some more free slices as I experiment.
CreditGrubber/Ak'ah, still have those AUKs available? I'll purchase 4 crates, and 1 crate of clamps (if you have them).
As to the 40% slice (to stay on topic), hmmm... I have something to work up to now. Interesting about the stats in the ss. HP & Action are equal, unless stat migration ... the only thing that does that is NP (though it's a bug when viewing your own HAM bars, when they really aren't equel). Unfortunatley, we don't see any secondary stats, and they are left to anyone's guess.
Now Rudd claimed he used no spice, but he also said he didn't want every Slicer out there hitting in the 40s. So, was he trying to throw us off early in the thread, or truthfully claimed no spice was used? He could have easily ignored that bit of info and let us keep guessing, but purposely made us not want to think Spice was involved.
Also, the 'axe' he sliced, from my guess, is a crafted Axe by a reputable weaponsmith. Hence the name of the creator in the Axe. Sure, I sliced a 29% speed increase on a looted CDEF from a swooper, and sliced 11% on a high crafted SB, so I don't know if that relates.
Ah, conspericy theories. I'm sure Rudd is having a good laugh.
