Thread: Face of the game changing.. we're 1 of 9

I'd just like to say I'm proud to be part of a community that's responded as you guys and gals have.
Many have reacted and posted with negative emotion (some with a certain amount of zeal) to the announcements and that's very understandable (especially for those that're seeing their professions bite the dust), but others are keeping an open mind and willing to see what LA has had SOE cook up for us this time. I'm really glad to see that's what most here have settled upon.
Really Wes, how did you think we'd respond as a community. We're so battle scarred at this point that this comes as a surprise to everyone but the Smugglers.
It's like we've been wandering the forum streets for 2.5 years with sandwich boards that read "The End is Near!" and now suddenly, everyone else has learned to read.
I'm really excited about this. This is the "Last Ditch" and is either going to break this game or save it. If I didn't think so, I wouldn't have resubed just to watch the fireworks.
Wowywowowowwo.
1) WOW. I'm gone for a few days and this happens. I, for one, am VERY excited about 'Last Ditch Revamp'. It has potential...those are words I haven't mumbled in a LONG time...launch, maybe
2) Go away Trolls. That is all
3) Isn't it nice to see some old faces around here? This is sweet. Welcome back guys!
4) MOST IMPORTANT: Thanks Wes!. You are doing a H3LL of a job keeping this place together, giving us updates, and not letting a few numbn---- get you down. Keep up the great work bro. That corr Q+A update was fairly informative*
* A little nervous about 'this is the intended idea' comment. Doesn't sound like any ACTUAL smuggling, but it IS better than nothing. Another quick question to an answer given...here

Some are concerned about lag issues (both frame rate and server ping); has any optimisation been made to the game so that the live action combat isn't a slide show
Alot has been moved client side. This will reduce lag, as the play test showed us.
Does this mean the minimum system requirements will be uped? (nice word...uped) If so, what will they be?
*goes to figure out what to do with all his old slicing stuff*

Thanks for the new info Wes, and I loved edit 4. Got a question though, do you know if you will stay the Smug corr after all this goes live? I can't handle another goodbye post to a corr I like.

I don't even know if there'll be a corre program after this... so, no, no idea

Four more years! Four more years! four more years...
Concerning "fast action combat:" Is it twitch combat like you see in games like Planteside and Counterstrike? Like EQ@ and DAOC's?
via Thunderheart: I would say that the speed of combat is somewhere in-between these two.
There is deinitely a lot more action, but it isn't twitchy as the First Person Shooters out there.
One of the things that really makes a difference is that you are clicking on your enemies to attack them and not the toolbar. For me, it centered my attention on the combat. Not having to split my focus between the actual on-screen combat and the toolbar made a big (positive) difference IMHO.
My biggest question right now is what exactly will happen with crafting / combat hybrids. Will our skill points used in a crafting profession be used in the respec? Will we be able to use those points in addition to our current level CL55 and be able to hit CL 80 again,or will we just have to start grinding at CL 55 all over again?
*sigh*
so to whichever dev made the quote about it?

If you need a reason, re-read what Wes wrote. He didn´t get consulted. Neither did the Jedi correspondant you are referring to. The simple fact that SOE didn´t bother to consult Wes simply prooves that he is not a brown-noser, or else he would have been part of the "focus-group". Your post is an insult to someone who has volunteered to sacrifice his spare time on our behalf. You don´t have to agree, but you could have the decency to shut up and go to heck.
Some good Answers in Edit 5.. Its too bad about slicing.. but we get to smuggle
