Wes, poor **edit**, got blindsided like most folks.

But not all folks. There were rumors about this...

I wonder if this question can get answered:

Do Jedi still get a second character slot?

If so, can current players just respec to Jedi and get a second character?

If so, woah.... even more Jedi.... yikes.

I think only those who have already opened the second slot get to keep it once this goes live. Which is a shame cause I'd like a second slot tbh.

From what I understand, it's still 1 toon per server, although I'm willing to bet in an attempt to save this game, SOE may be willing to accept changes.

As for tons of Jedi, "and there shall be the rending of pajamas and the gnashing of pearly teeth when they realize that they are not the Chosen Children any longer."

I leave the country for one week... and this is what happens. I'm going to bury my opinions in this thread for all you to flame and whatnot rather than express anything outright. I might also do it in the Jedi forums since trolling Jedi will become passe shortly..

1. Lost of a Player-Built Community and Economy

This was gone long ago. It disappeared with the chase for Jedi, where players abandoned their niche in life and in the community for the all-important title of Jedi, which had no place or value to the community at large. As for the player economy, if anyone from Beta 3 recalls, it was the bane of Q-3P0's "grand scheme" - he could never get the balance right.

Furthermore, some of these changes may prohibit the community at large from soloing - since templates will be lost. Personally, I'm not paying 23 dollars a month for a single player adventure game. "Soloing" does not support the community, and an argument can be made that grind groups are not that helpful either.

2. No more unique professions

UGH.. this was the shining light of the game - the fact that I was not Cleric #12,543,395 LFG in the Dreadlands. While this was an obviously necessary step to balance out the game's fragile and erratic combat system, I sincerely believe a few mathematicians could have balanced out the entire system properly.

3. Twitch Gaming

I hope this is was "action based gaming" is going to be intrepreted into. Point and Click adventuring never suited Star Wars much, even with the success of KOTOR (and the dismal whimpering of KOTOR2). Dark Forces, Jedi Knight and X-Wing/TIE Fighter were the hallmarks of Star Wars Games. And for some of us who were better known as quarter-poppers, the Star Wars Arcade Game.

**BUT**, and this is a big but, there was a reason why twitch games wasn't possible in MMOs - and why Battlefield, CS, Farcry, Diablo servers were limited in their number of players. System Performance and Lag kills the FPS/TPS games. I'm very interested to see how they resolve this problem.

4. Crafters and items

OMGWTFBBQ.. (sorry, I stole that from OCR). Admittedly, this follows the "Community is Dead" issue in that crafters were hard to find on some servers and easier on others - most often then not they were also Jedi Alts use to finance their Jedi characters (and vice versa). Furthermore, most crafters were "AutoIt" crafters. But I can't imagine the horror this will unleash to have a crafter main character, unless its the same as BH/Smuggler in that they're selling to NPCs than PCs.

In Summary:

Game was dead to begin with. If this is essentially a new game, then that better be the reason why this game was essentially ignored for nearly 2 years. They better not allow multi-billion credit characters enter into a world scaled for tens of thousands of credits. They better hit the balance and play-ability right on the money before live release.

Finally, it had better be Star Wars this time.

Hopefully we will be able to smuggle. And hopefully those of us bad at FPS will still enjoy this.

I am actually doubtful they will add smuggling. You see SOE doesn't actually fix stuff they just keep changing the system, I guess they hope to stumble across a system that everyone will play despite the bugs (such as gated quests), missing features (such as smuggling), lagfrom thousands of abandoned houses, factories and harvestors littering the countryside.

Strangely, this is the first time I've seriously though about switching MMO's...

I'll stick around to see what happens.

Reading other forums outside this network from folks who were in the on the test groups. We have a first person shooter game and it looks like EQ by classes. We have the ability to sell goods anywhere and run away fast, Tendonslicer.) I am waiting to see, since I am paid up for several months.

But I feel that I have been lied to again. I just bought the expansion. Now I have a different game, that I did not buy.

Hopefully without seeming condesending, sanctimonious, brown-nosing and certainly without infuriating anyone, I'd just like to say I'm proud to be part of a community that's responded as you guys and gals have.

Many have reacted and posted with negative emotion (some with a certain amount of zeal) to the announcements and that's very understandable (especially for those that're seeing their professions bite the dust ), but others are keeping an open mind and willing to see what LA has had SOE cook up for us this time. I'm really glad to see that's what most here have settled upon.

I'll be posting a list of concerns in the corre forum based on your replies to this thread. Admitedly I'm not sure how much attention they'll get what with everything going on, but I'll let you know if I get any responses.

Bloody hell.. and here I've been writing up random ideas for the last week that I thought would have really enhanced the game. Was hoping to have them all ready to be posted this weekend and have my Smuggler brothers and sisters marvel at my new take on the whole game...

And what does SOE do? Just like always they beat me to the punch. This is all an evil plot against me

Ah well, if they finally make combat less mechanical, make me feel like I'm back in Star Wars again, give me a thought out underworld and an actual GCW I'll be a happy camper. Yay for change (sometimes)

Well done Wes, I'm sure I speak for a lot of us when I say I am proud to have such a mature and forward thinking Cor.
And I am in agreement that though we are all confused, flabergasted, concussed, and generally out of sorts; we should stick together and do our best to keep up as much helpful/constructive feedback and make the best out of this new system. And Wes, maybe you should add the following phrase to the top of this post in big, friendly letters...
DON'T PANIC.

What he said, especially the part when he says he speaks for us, cause he spoke for me on that part.

What can I say,..I'm a sucker for new things

I still trust SOE/LA this _ much, and I still want to flemming Smuggle, but I will bite on the bait and see what happens. Star Wars is still a favorite of mine and STO won't be around for a spell, so what's 15 dollars to see the side show, eh?
