Thread: Firefly: the show that defined what a SWG smuggler should be
Nearly every person you get to watch Firefly will love it. Everyone who loves Firefly will go see the movie. The better the movie does the more likely it is for the show to be reborn. The objective is clear, get more people to watch Firefly.
Beg borrow and steal copies of the DVD's and lend them out to friends and family, and get them to pass them along once they're done. Build the fan base. It is just such a good show that was never marketed like it should and was screwed by the network.
Well...I've watched the entire series, including the special features on the last DVD...
Now, I'm onto re-watching them with the commentary turned on...I love the little tidbits you pick up from the commentary...
I'm officially hooked...
Really hoping that after the movie, Sci-Fi will take this show and run with it like they did with Stargate SG-1.
licked? man.. i want an Edit Option
meant liked, of course

Was watching the series again when I noticed in the pilot, that there's a very similar situation as in Empire Strikes Back.
They're going to meet someone for a smuggling deal, with an old "friend".
Mal, and Zoe are waiting for their contact to arrive, and then they arrive, with about 6 men armed behind her.
One of the first things she says "I that Zoe, you still hanging around with this bum?" Seems very reminscent of a certain ex-smuggler to me
Well that is not the only Star Wars thing in there. Anyone else saw the Lambda Class Shuttle in the Serenity Episode? You can see it flying when the "Ambassador" Shuttle docks with the Serenity.
I might have to check this series out...
I heard someone mention a cowboy hat...you know, I stopped playin' SWG a long time ago and jus' about a month ago came back. I normally wear dark Ubese armor and all, but I was lookin' for a cowboy hat to go with my armor (I would definitely wear a cowboy hat over an Ubese helmet anyday, that would look so awesome), but I found there's no cowboy hats in game...they need to impliment one! If they made it like a 1-yr vet reward I'd trade my ADK for it anyday, hehe. (Well, as long as they made the hat no-decay, heh)

I was a Buffy fan way back when and liked Angel too for the first two seasons. Mal is so much more like what I thought a smuggler is, dont get me wrong I like Han but Mal can eat cookies in my bed anyday!
And best character from Buffy wasn't that pretty boy Angel but the bad boy Spike. Joss Whedon should have done a spin-off based on Spike. I love Whedon's writing, the man is truely creative in a time where most tv is so bad I never watch tv.
I much preffered Angel... But that's just me.
To be honest I think that Firefly is better than Buffy and Angel, as I was thinking quite intensively about it. It's much better acted than Buffy, it has more humour than Angel, it doesn't go along the normal "everyone can do martial arts" line, it has guns, it has space ships. Best of all it doesn't have very annoying characters in it that you want to murder every scene they're in (Tara, Riley, (sometimes Xander), Buffy (last 2 seasons), Wesley, Gunn, Fred).
But I've actually met Eliza, so my vote stands
That's me getting her to sign a replica of her knife - pride of place, it has, yes

SciFi has the rights to show the EXISTING shows. Joss gave up the rights to continue the television show for 10 years to Fox in return for a 3 picture movie deal. SciFi can't make new Firefly episodes, only Fox, and since Fox makes television for total imbecieles now, I doubt they'll realize their mistake and make more. You have to think to enjoy Firefly, which wouldn't go over well with the American Idiot, Hilton S|ut Opening Her Mouth, or Hell's Kitchen crowd.
That said, Firefly was the single most brillant piece of Sci-Fi I've ever seen. I even dare say that the 14 episodes of Firefly were better written, produced and acted than all of Star Wars. It's a truely amazing show and I'm SO glad I never saw it till it was on DVD and I could watch it without commercials or other crap getting in the way. Serenity, the movie, should be amazing.
It is so nice to see that I am not the only person who hates reality TV.
If I wanted reality I wouldn't play video games.
I think reality tv is an insult to humanity. The absolute horror it fills me with is insane. To think people enjoy watching others degraded and humiliated, to such a degree and so many if them shakes my faith in my fellow man. Just to know an audience exists for this excrement is insult enough. It just boggles me. What kind of people watch this crap? Horrible.
Um, just a reminder of the depth of human depravity.......

And here I thought this was supposed to be a light-hearted commentary about Firefly......
No kidding.
And, yes Lunah, I agree with you on Spike. Truely, the most animated character I've ever watched.
Angelus ftw!
