And I to you, but I'm dead serious that having them forced to check the terminals actively when I don't need to. That is bad game design and should not be implemented. Seriously think on this, please.
The thinking has been done. A part of a smugglers job is keeping his tail clean and out of traps. If NPC bounty hunters are assigned, I'm sure PvE smugglers will love being able to adjust their NPC visibility. It is good game design, but monitoring a PC visibility chart can be seen as annoying to someone who doesn't care for it. That much I see of your point. Perhaps if you have the ability to play with your visibility from a NPC standpoint the "appeal" will be more clear. I would like to point out that the adjusting and monitoring of visibility is widely liked around here (if it is weeded out of people not wanting to monitor a PvP meter for a PvE flavored player), and I for one would be very very sore if it was somehow not included in the revamp. It is a wonderful idea, better than I've seen alot of ideas thrown around here. A visibility system is needed for BH's of anykind to come for us. Making money off of slicing computer terminals and "adjusting" it is too good an idea to lay aside like a bag of moldy tangerines.
I emplore you, keep fighting for what you want, I'm sure you will, have a good night
I do not believe anyone has suggested to take out the ability to see your visibilty. I do however believe we have stated that their should be equal content for PvE'ers and PvP'ers alike. Make it so PvE'ers can check and lower their NPC BH visibility and ONLY NPC visibilty while allowing PvP'ers to check and change Player visibility as they want and like the PvP playstyle.

I do not see how anything would have to be sacraficed, all the posts I have read and/or commented on have been very supportive of the proposal in all areas cept for the PvP consequence section.

So there is a huge community sentiment that we want to deny the entire bounty hunter community the content that bounties on us would allow because we don't want them to call us names?
We aren't talking about the template stacker, mind disease, pvp only leet doods that run around trying to find an unsuspecting person to beat up on who may be overt unintentionally. I'm sure there are some jerks in the BH community, all professions have them.
Is there a reason besides not wanting to read a few insulting text strings after dying? I'm not trying to be a jerk, I really don't understand where you guys are coming from.
It has become very clear to me that some people just have different preferences. But make no mistake about it, I agree exactly with you. How people are so afraid of a few lines of text kills me too. How someone would want to combat a stagnant, unintelligent facade of a person is beyond me. You might as well be playing that old Nintendo game Contra and shooting up the Big Bad Alien boss.
I'd much rather make a real connection to someone. When I die, it won't be a gimped computer in a server farm in Texas that DB's me. It will be another player who is having the time of his life. For all the insults I might draw at my death, they are worth them to share the joy of another player who says, "good fight, it's just my job, it would be better under different circumstances"
Let them have a presaved binary message relayed to them. Let them have it, they want it. I will know that a trillion presaved binary messages don't mean a gnat's ass to a real compliment or connection I would make with another person.

I dig what you say with every fiber in my body. Can NPC BH's be coded easily enough so that it doesn't kill the rest of our revamp? If they can, then I'd buy you all the aircakes and noobie melons in the world! Anyways, I think I am struggling to hard to ensure we have a good revamp. Lemme just go to sleep right now
Also people need to let go of the idea that something was promised by the devs in the beginning. The devs said lots of things would be one way and they have turned out to be another. Remember rare jedi?
If you look at the core of this game, the GCW, what do you find. PVP. In essence SWG is a pvp oriented game. Jedi have to be pvp to have access to the higher levels. This seems to be consistent theme in this game. If you want access to the really juicy stuff, you're gonna have to lock horns with a real live person. The sooner everyone comes to grips with this reality the sooner we can get past this self imposed road block and fix the profession.

Well, like I said before. I've witnessed first hand how impossibly hard the BH system code is to fix. I don't think the ones who support this idea truly realize just how tough a task they are requesting. If I remember in the original game faq during beta the devs said jedi would be hunted by npc's as well as others. This idea is not new. It's implementation however must have been too hard to code since no one has seen a npc jedi/bh spawning to attack a player jedi.

Actually if you been reading up on the GCW the devs are implimenting many PvE aspects in the upcoming GCW revamp. One of the biggest reason would most likely be the overwhelming number of Neutral players on the servers.
Also it was either SWG or SOE, can not remember which one, already stated the game is not just for PvP'ers but all playstyles and they will take steps to ensure this is continued. Prime example the new Jedi system now takes out PvP (even PC BH's) in the first part of getting Jedi... upto Jedi Knight. If you want to continue climbing the Jedi tree then you are put into a PvP system of play which I bet will include PC BH's.

I'm talking about programming. It will take an incredible amount of developer time to code two seperate systems. Especially one that is npc controlled. Why do you think they ditched the idea of high level npc's showing up to fight jedi?
Remember when jedi bounties first came out? Well they still don't work like they're supposed to. That's been months of them trying to fix it but not being able to. What GreenMarine is proposing is using an extension of that system. Not making a new one. He figures they'll have the bugs finally worked out by then so they can include the entire player base. This has always been a concept the devs have been interested in. It is called the Death Mark system. It's been here since day one of beta and the devs still planned on putting it in the last time the correspondent asked. (Fan Fest I believe)
Simply put if you want this system of duel BH types then you are going to have to sacrifice part of the revamp. They just don't have the developer time to do both. What you are asking for is far too complicated to be added as a single feature. Ask GreenMarine and I bet he'll tell you the same thing. If they can put it in without harming the revamp fine. But I have witnessed first hand how hard this system is to code already and don't forsee it getting any easier. So I ask the question again.
If given two choices, which would you prefer. Duel BH system and a watered down revamp? Or revamp as our developer envisioned. Please just answer one or the other as this is hypothetical. Thanks.

Sure, it might take more programming... but that is what the devs get paid for. With the upcoming combat revamp we are not even sure how we are going to stack up against NPC mobs, this whole situation about special programing for for high end mobs might be mute, but again that is not for us to worry about. There were and still are alot of "unfinished" systems in the game that were put off for higher priorty tasks and I am sure the Jedi NPC BH was one of them. If they did not even plan to have Jedi in the game for a year (which is what I believe was an eta at onetime) then it was a system easily pushed back for a later time in favor of something that was going out in the initial publish.
We need to concern ourselves with a revamp that suits and pleases the majority of us and let the devs figure out a way to make it possible. When I have a house built I dont worry about how to construct it, not my job. I let them know what I want, how I want it to look and then trust that they are capable of doing it. We need to trust our devs, I hear they are very bright, intelligent, and forward thinking staff.

I have been reading up on the GCW as well as the Jedi revamp. I don't think you have however. Jedi's will still get on the terminal at Initiate level. It will be harder to show up on them the lower level you are however. What you are referring to is how the Jedi advance in Force Rankings through pvp. BH's aren't designed to fight Jedi Knights..

BH's aren't designed to fight Jedi Knights..Once they achieve that level they'll be fighting themselves. JustG posted in the BH forum that BH's are meant to control the population. Since we can't fight the higher level jedi one on one I'm pretty sure he means the youngins.
You are right I have not read alot of the Jedi revamp only what is usualy posted on stratics and/or warcry and the many Fanfest posts I have seen. Jedi is not something I am really going for so that is probably why I took so little interest in it but I do however can see PC BH Bounties to control the population. Jedi is a very advance profession nor one of the start professions, I can accept PC BH bounties in that respect... see I am not anti-pvp. I just do not think a starter profession should force pvp to advance or do his/her job to play the game.
I will have to go read up on Jedi's more.
