Thread: A chuckle for the smuggler

I just made master smuggler last week, and already I have a chuckle for you guys.


The first night I had master commando out, I get a /tell from an armorsmith asking if I could lice 30 sets of composite. WooHoo! Of course I jumped on the deal looking to make a cool half mil or so. But when I look at the clock it's already 2 AM, and I'm running on like 3 hours of sleep. As usual, my wallet overode all other concerns and I headed off to slice. well by the time he had everything ready another half hour had gone by, and now im kinda feeling it.


slice.... slice... slice...


the next thing I know I wake up in my chair at noon staring at the login screen.


I quickly log in, and ohh man, sooooo many /tells from the guy screaming at me "WHERE'S MY ARMOR!?!?" I didnt even get the helmets done, so here I am with 30 sets of composite armor just laying around in my inventory, a chatlog a mile long with nothing but yelling and AFK responses, 10 emails, and a death threat involving things I cant say here.



I dunno if this has happened to anyone else, but I sure hope I'm not the only one!


The moral of this story:Dont slice tired!!

This just happened to me. Then I missed the shuttle so I'm here posting waiting for it. It's an example of smuggler's luck in action


I log on today, and I'm just screwing around having fun. Made a couple new macros, one for blaming other people for my actions and the other for the secret smuggler handshake (so I don't have to type it out.) I'm on my way to Dath to get some pistol xp for pistolleer, so I'm in the starport looking for buffs. There is one doc buffing when I get there with a line of about 15 with her closing up shop on the last person in line. So I start running around in circles wondering what I'm going to do about buffs when I spot a fellow master smuggler. I think he'ld be a great test dummy for my new handshake macro so I run up and hit the hotkey. The macro goes off and teh guy /waves at me. I'm about to run off again when he asks me if I'm in line. The question seemed odd to me so I look around only to find a doctor had sat down and started buffing a couple meters away with the line 4 people deep heading perfectly straight to me and this other guy. So, I quickly type up, "I am now," get buffed, and watch the shuttle take off right as I click on the droid.

I've gotta start remembering my stupid customers... I've been a Master Smuggler for two or so months by now, and while I've only recently actually TRIED slicing for money, I've gotten a few bad customers.


Sometimes I advertise, but mostly people send me tells. I charge people only what they want to pay, as long as I'm gettng something for materials. This way, if I get a great slice, they usually pay me extra, and if I get slices in the teens, I still get something. Alot of people give me the standard 2k/item, but some people will give me 20k for like 4 weapons, if they get one slice that they really want.


One thing is I have a macro that states 'Don't tell me what you want, cause when you do it almost always goes the opposite way.' Cause most people say 'go speed, speed speed speed (or damage)' and when it's like that I know it's sarcasm, so Idon't go into the spiel of 'I can't choose'. It's only when the peopleDEMAND I get adamage slice that I do that.


But anyhow, I've gotten some idiots. But like Isaid, most are tells and those are the people who know about slicing so usually it all goes smooth. I have to say,since I've beenconciously trying to slice, I've made BANK. I buy my supplies, but 2 oe 3 good clients pays for more then enough supplies for several more. I've made... probably a million credits over the past 2 weeks, but granted a LOT of people are extremely generous when I say theyI only charge what they want to pay. They find that really cool. No one has really stiffed meeither. Not on big jobs anyhow. A Free weapon or piece of armor here and there, and I think it's because I don't want todo 'so, you gonnapay me?' That leads to 'why didn'tyou SAY you wanted money?!' and therefore dumb uselass arguments. Anyhow, I gotta run. =)

not a story but just an idea to try rather than ignore the bad customers (in case they decide to start bad mouthing you in spatial)


/denyservice


they cant trade with you, be healed by you, access your homes or vendors, etc


but you can still defend yourself ^^


another trickwould be to do both /addignore and /denyservice on them (note: to use the /denyservice command you must target them and type ONLY /denyservice... I ended up denying service to a mokk shaman outpost once^^ )

I'm sittin in coronet, slicing a few weapons for a client and I get the following tell from a new client.


client: hey how much do you charge for slices?

me: 5k flat rate per item, 30k for suits of armor, no charge for under 20%

client: your kidding right?

me: nope, this line in front of you doesn't seem to think so.

client: well when I was a master smuggler I only charged 3k per item.

me: glad to hear it, I prefer 5k, lines my pockets better.

client: yeah but i charged 3k and used 99% clamps and knives.

me: lol like i said 5k, and % doesn't matter on clamps and knives.

client: yes it does, your full of sh*t!

(me checking his profile to see that he hasa badge for almost every profession.)

me: and how long were you a smuggler?

client: 5 days.

me: and you learned all there is to know about smuggling?

client: you little jerk, your gonna slice my stuff, and i'm gonna pay 3k, and thats the way it is gonna go.

(me laughing so hard i shoot dr pepper thorugh my nose.)

I gotta try slicing in Coronet, then bring a Swordsman along. If my client complains/whines/......, I'll tell him the Swordsman will give him a few "slices"

This next thread is dedicated to the great Jaice Marakellin aka Ommer .



Little background on me. I normaly wear my master smuggler tag up unless and really really don't want to be bothered. I normaly charge 5k per slice but only for Imperials as I PvP and don't want to be shot at by a weapon I increased. I know that the weapon is going to be sliced anyway and I'm losingout on cashfor it but I just don't like rebels and neutrals I hate even more


So I'm in coronet sitting in front of the starport talking to a mate when a wookie comes up to me witha blue name tag.


Wookie: Are you slicing?


me: Sorry I don't slice for anyone but imperials.


Wookie: That's stupid I'll give you 5k if you slice my weapon for me.


me: Well I normal charge 5k anyways. But as I said I only slice for imperials becuase I pvp and don't like getting shot at by weapons I slice.


Wookie: (Nice line of swear words I'm sure that are directed at me and in caps) Okay I'll give you 10k if you slice it for me you....


me: Okay I'll do it....


wookie wants to trade with you


me: but since your so rude I'll do it for 20k


Wookie:YOU **** SLICE MY STUFF NOW!


me: I'll do it for 30k


My friends are starting to laugh


Wookie: (More swearing)


I get my price up to 50k when a guild mate comes along and sees this wookie standing over me swearing while people around me are laughing as I increase my price.


Guildmate: You mess with him you mess with me wookie.


Now I feel good as I feel likea gangster with my boys ready to step in and protect me


Wookie continues to swear in caps and I continue to increase my price till I get to 80k at which point he runs off looking for a slicer. 2 more times he passes me insulting me while I nod at him quoting a higher price each time. I get up and leave to get buffed and run the rest of my TKM grind. He still shouting for a slice as I get on the shuttle.





Not a true Ommer story... I would have been if I got the 100k off of him

this is a little funny, not a story really...


over the apst three days on about 8 occasions i have gotten slices of speed 22% twice in a row....


Now get this,,, it was only on some of the most uberest weapons i have ever seen!

thats ok someone asked me to make a factory crate of a town hall and a shuttle port and told me he wants at least 10 in each crate and told me he will not pay me more than 100k each crate i did the /addignore command so fast you could not even say bye
