Wasnt the whole idea of the cu to balance things out and have extended fights and such? This shouldnt be allowed in a post cu profession imo, i could see leaving the target with 100 health or something. "Chance". "Just About". I think those make their own point.
It's not an "I win" button by any means. If you'd read the dozen or so posts addressing that exact point, you'd already know that. I'm also guessing you're not a smuggler, or haven't really spent much time with it, or again, you'd know what LD is and isn't, and it's role in our repetoire. But I'll make the point, regarding Smuggler and Last Ditch:
SMUGGLERS DO NOT FIGHT TO KILL. SMUGGLERS FIGHT TO GET THE FLAMING BAJEEZUS OUT OF THE FIGHT. We don't do damage, we don't soak damage. We do everything we can to save our skins and get out alive. Last Ditch is a LAST DITCH ASSAULT, when ALL ELSE HAS FAILED. All or nothing. It is NOT a PvP winner, it is not a Jedi Killer. People who use it as such are going to DIE, and DIE HARD. And not like the movie. Frankly, the fact that BHs are relying on this special at ALL only tells me they're pretty damn stupid, to be honest. It MIGHT succeed, it MIGHT roll high enough for an incap. Chances are more likely you'll miss the extremely slender window, or it will just plain roll low or miss entirely. It IS A DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO SAVE THE SMUGGLER'S LIFE. Period. To think it's anything else only shows ignorance of the special, and a complete disregard for how very easy it is to prevent.

ok point 1 - Last Ditch IS NOT... i repeat IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT IS NOT a 1 shot incap.
you have to have done some previous damage to your enemy throughout the fight in order for you to have even a chance at incapping them. and you also have to have taken considerable damage for it to have a chance at incapping them as well.
which leads me to my next point...
point 2 - if you've worked your enemy down to the point where they can be incapped by Last Ditch, and you yourself are at the point where you're so badly injured that you are using Last Ditch, then THE FIGHT HAS BEEN AN EXTENDED FIGHT!
so your points are null and void.
it is nowhere near being an "I Win" button.

And the original poster, Gilbert45, needs to retract his comments and frankly, owes the Smuggler community an apology.
Last Ditch- no matter how many points of damage it can cause- even if it were 10k- IS NOT a 1 shot kill.
Even if the Smuggler allows you to beat them down in order to use LD, it still is not a 1 shot kill.
How can I say that?
Because in order for the Smuggler to do it (and be effective) they have to be losing the fight.
This means the person attacking has to get the Smuggler low enough in health for Last ditch to cause any significant damage.
That means that the person attacking the smuggler is WINNING (controlling) THE FIGHT.
As the controller of the fight you can use TACTICS to avoid becoming a victim of LD.
In fact the second or third post in this very thread pointed out some very useful TACTICS but I will reiterate them for those who just skip to the end of posts like these.
"I have fought a couple of these, they jus let you pound on them till they get low health then unleash Last Ditch, only thing i have used that has worked was when they get down to about 33% health, keep them kded, saberthrow, sabersweep, which ever you choose, but keep them down. Plus the added dmg you get when they are kded ends the fight quicker. Last Ditch is only a 1shoter when the opponent is at about 100pts of health or so, otherwise it does alot of dmg, but not a oneshot kill."
There were other ideas, mentioned in this thread as well- such as using LOS once you see their health is low and you suspect an LD around the corner.
Here are some more that I did not see:
Use Caevlin Creams (it shortens incap time) as when a Smuggler uses LD more times than not they are incapped as well. I personally have only NOT been incapped by LD once.
With the creams in your system you might get up before the Smuggler does and you can get the DB.
RUN.
If you get incapped and DB'd (as a Jedi) you have a LOT to lose.
RUN! You are winning the fight- KD the b4st4rd and RUN!!
Put the nerf bat down. This special is working as intended and I cannot wait for a Dev to pop up somewhere and say so.

NEEDED a nerf. A victim of that ability could do NOTHING but watch a CM whittle them down and kill them.LD is NOT Paralyze. You CAN use TACTICS. No one can sneak up on you and LD you.
See, one of my biggest problems with this is- when it was discovered that MDefender was a pretty Uber addition to the Jedi Template the BHs didn't start nerf Defender threads. They began to work on TACTICS to combat a Jedi with Defender in his template.
It's taken well over a year for this CU to come out and while it was rushed in the end- I think its brash and arrogant for someone to post that a special needs to be nerfed because they lost to it 4 or 5 times. I would say that person needs to rethink their TACTICS.
You obviously didn't test or ask about any TACTICS around this ability before you rushed here to start a campaign to nerf it. I think you need to own up to this fact Gilbert45 and I think you owe my first and foremost profession an apology.
That would be the thing for the "bigger person" to do.
I'm waiting to see how big a person you really are.
I suggest you all start pushing for an apology as well.

Ok, so you want us to have a shotthat doesn't quit take out the target, drops all of our pools so that we are one hit away from a CDEF pistol from incap? So why would we use it at all? Any change to LD will just give us another useless skill and then well be back to our pre CU uselessness.

i'm just sick and tired of Smugglers being the ones who get the shaft every time a Jedi or a BH dabbles for a new trick.
i'm sure i'm getting all angry for nothing because the Devs can clearly see that Last Ditch is working just fine, and they won't change it a bit.
but i just wanted to make the Smuggler community's feelings on the issue very clear.
maybe i went a bit far with the "bring back permadeath" thing... but seriously.

I think Wes will understand. I think Wes will recognize how very angry we are that once more, we are in danger of being stripped of a valuable ability due to another profession's desire to be unbeatable. I believe he will have ample evidence to show that bowing to the Jedi on this issue would be a BAD IDEA on the Devs' part in the most profound way.
The fact of the matter is, we're upset like we haven't been in a long time, we have reason, and we're tired of letting things just roll over in favor of a bunch of whining glowstick kids that can't accept they might fall down once in a while.
