Thread: SLICING Don't break my weapon, please

What's my downside again? I *never* made mad credits slicing things.
Bad luck for you. I did.
Any player with a brain that functions beyond keeping them breathing and heart beating carries more than one weapon.
And instead of paying us to slice all of them like they used to, they'll now keep them unsliced so they can rely on them when the sliced one fails.
I find it a little comical that you're basing your complaints on percentages, and then admit that the changes are something you don't even know about.
Nothing comical in basing it on the 8% figure. 8% of max is poor, 8% of minimumwould bepathetic.
Players carry more than one weapon. Most groups I've seen have at least one Smuggler in it for base takedowns. Not exactly a strong argument you're making at this point.
So you're fine if you're doing a base take down. And what proportion of the game is base take down?Pretty small I'd guess. Not exactly a strong argument you're making at this point.
Or maybe, just *maybe* players will have sliced weapons to use on that Ancient, while their best weapons just have power-ups.
You miss the point. Why use that sliced weapon on an ancient when it gives you a minimal improvement with a risk of complete failure? Far better to use the safe unsliced weapon with a powerup.
Maybe players will think a bit instead of just click and follow. Maybe players will enjoy the added risk factor of using a sliced weapon.
Unlikely. People don't fight krayts to enjoy the risk of dying, they do it in the hope of getting loot. They are not going to want something from us that reduces their chance of getting that loot.
I know once the new slicing program hits the production servers I don't expect a flood of requests for slices to incredible weapons. I expect to have people ask me to slice their generic AS-crafted weapons so they can test things out, see how it works.
Probably true.
Once the playerbase knows what the heck is going on, then I expect I will see the occasional super-weapon for a slice, and the players will be asking for specific slices.
But here's where we differ. At this point I expect most players not to want to bother with slices as not worth the risk.
Give the thing a chance. It's not even on the production servers and already people are running around complaining about how people won't get their things sliced.
That's why it's on test centre. We give feedback in the hope of it going to live in the best possible way.
So? They aren't smugglers. If they don't want the advantage, fine.
And it comes back once again to "what advantage?"8% extra damage at the risk of total weapon shutdownisn't an advantage, it's a liability.

Some of you people are morons, good luck when people tell you to go F yourselfs, they arent giving you a weapon that will end up breaking all the time and i got this information from Tiggs post, She said something like at full 100% customzation things will usually break once a week.
Uhm, I haven't been a Smuggler for all that long but I never read a post here or in the FAQ* that described how I'm supposed to talk people into giving me their weapons.
It's called reputation
For the argumentative types I find, "Gimmie the damn weapon and quit wasting my time, or find another smuggler. Stop playing games." works wonders

The In Concept thread also contained weapon malfunctions related to "out of tune" states from slicing. Perhaps you just missed that. In fact, I think the only difference between the system on Test and the one that was in the IC thread is the nifty display and "timed reactions" minigame. Everything else is pretty much exactly the same.
You people are fools, enjoy the borked system because theres hardly going to be anyone getting slices, your greed is blinding you to the facts. I think the years of waiting made most smugglers re tard ed

Listen don't rain on our parade because your character's profession is not getting love at the moment.
Stop complaining for goodness sake (whish I could swear here) If you don't want a slice fine don't get a slice. Most of us don't make our money from slices anyways, at least I don't ![]()
As far as being "retarded" well that is just a juvenile posting but I understand you are hitting the pixie hardlately so I won't hold it against you ![]()
Just remeber this one movie quote that was not used in a starwars movie but fits well here;
"GREED for lack of a better word is GOOD, GREED is RIGHT, GREED WORKS....."
So take some droid lubricant and just chilllllllllllll

I've been a smuggler longer then 99% of you noobs, i know whats best for the profession and this isnt it.
/bow to the smuggler god.
Sorry man - you know what is best for YOU. Dont generalize to the rest of what people think. All you can speak for is yourself. And no, sorry, you don't know what is best for the profession. Would be best to not pretend that you do. Your opinion is your own, leave it at that.
Hooray!
You need risk vs rewards. I like a game to be hard otherwise it becomes boring fast. I want to have myself firing at extreme rates only to have my weapon break leaving me going "oh feck I'm going to die now, maybe I shouldn't have made that many alterations to my weapon."
A True smuggler does want everyone running around with Legial modifed weaponary. They don't want people running around their pockets full of spice.
And I'm not a noob I've contributed to this communitity and my galaxy community for a very long time. Never heard of you XStarbracer. so were you get calling Smugglers that want riskes to an legeal items I don't know. You might want to run around being a slice monkey but I won't.
As long as this sort of stuff continues to happen we are never going to have a system in which we can smuggle. And I don't mean the damn dilivery missions you can get off a normal mission terminal.
I want to smuggle and I damn well want to make a profit for doing so.

and before you round on me about "saber Envy"
i never, EVER waned to be a jedi.. i wanted smuggler since i first heard about this game. i wanted to be able to do the kessel run, fly through imperial blockades. i never wanted even to SEE a jedi in this " timeline"
you do not exist for me.. please, do not force me to acknowledge your presence.....
yep that happens alot. and then the posts are deleted after 30 minutes of arguing and complaining about losing some l33tn3ss its pretty pathetic
You people DO realize that your weapon wouldn't be broken forever, right? You would have been able to take it somewhere to get it fixed.
I hope they don't back down from this because people are to simple to understand how severely temporary a broken weapon/armor would be.
But then- why should logic stand in the way of everyone's mad dash for mediocrity.
