Kind of hard to decide, actually.

A is the correct response, as the items in question are illegal, and so should not be sold on public vendors.

B is also a valid response for playability, as I wouldn't want to hang out on street corners selling spice (Um, Smuggler, not Drug Dealer...)

These things have to be carefully weighed, pros and cons, realism vs. playability.

In this case, since you asked for no other options, I have to say

"B"

because no other profession must hand sell their product. RP and all is fine, but if I have to stand around back alleys trying to sell spice, no spice will be sold. I have better things to do in-game.

Look into those "other" options and we can talk.

ooooo

NPC drug pushers working for factions such as Hutt to whom we sell our spice. If there aren't Smugglers selling spice, those pushers are out of stock. Hrm...

This would affect Smugglers in the way thevendor change would have affected merchants. I make money by selling my goods on vendors, not by slicing. So if that's going to go away, I have no income other then to slice, which is also so called contraband. Right now wiht he way spice works and the lack of smuggleing, slicing isthe ONLY thing a smuggler is good for. Also, A LOT of weaponsmiths/armorsmiths will oppose it because most of them sell sliced weapons from an "in-house" smuggler. So, unless there are REALLY cool things for smugglers to do in addition to this change -by that I mean actually smuggle, and as of right now, we as a player base have no evidence of ANY CHANGE to our profession outside the CURB, no, I would not be favor of that.

The problem s A & B do not take into account getting opinions.

I understand what he is looking for, but it is simpply a deeper subject than black or white, we are smugglers for christs sakes, we need gray!!

We live in the gray.

The poll has given light to the 2 obious options, now it is time for the community to fine tune this down.

If smugglers were not aligned then I would go with A in a shot, but they are not, there are smugglers on both sides of the great devide and frankly thier needs, attitudes and roleplay are different, they live a different life.

Believe me when I say, I realise this. I've seen a myriad of varying ideas on how to implement contraband vendors etc. on this forum, but this is on the basis of, if you had the choice to enable A, with nodevelopment time for anything else, would you? If I get into that situation, I want to have a clear cut answer.

The thing is you wouldn't have to carry around bulks of different spice. Say spices are still craftable for now you could take orders.

Smack Addict: Hay dude I got this bash going and everyone needs a huge fix. They're all crashing man. You got like 200 pixie man?

Me: Well I got nopixie on me pal, not really a market since the new Yarrock. I can give you 25 Yarrock to tie you over, will give you the reflexes of a shifty Jawa. Give me a couple of hours to pull togeather the pixie. I might be able to get some off an aquientance.

Smack Addict: Cool man I got your cash here and another mill when you get the pixie.

Two hours later I've dug up the old stash of pixie in the back garden and run to the smakc addicts house when I get a call on my mobile.

Smack Addict: Hay man this Yarrock's the *$£^. Hook me up with another 500 of them this parties going through the roof.

*Cha-ching*

/sigh

me: I'm never going to get rid of this crappy pixie now.

Yeah maybe a black market smuggler vendor that can hold a maximium of 100 items on it. Oh and I already voted A if it can only be A or B.

I think this game is starting to suffer the consequences ofaccomidating the lazy people that want instant gratification and the good ol' "I WHIN BUTTON". There needs to be more immersion. More Star Wars like features. Last time I checked, Spices and Slicing was illegal in the Star Wars Universe and theSWG (items are tagged and searched for by scan teams). So, why allow them on an easily accessable public forum such as the bazaar? I mean, you have scan teams out there looking for this stuff because it's illegal but they don't bother to go shop the bazaar for 20 seconds pull up a list of names? Take the crap off of there!

Honestly, to me, it depends.

If some form of visibility or infamy is implemented, I'd say a modified B. Sell stuff on the bazaar terminals or your vendors, sure, but if you do, you gain visibility/infamy for each contraband item you sell. Not just a little of it either. Think of how hard the U.S. government cracks down on the selling of highly illegal modified weapons and drugs. Now think of how hard a totalitarian government bent on Galactic domination would...

However, if there are no consequences to placing illegal items on vendors/bazaar terminals, I definitely, definitely say A.

Sadly I remember a time when almost everyone got their weapons sliced by a smuggler, not bought off a vendor. So its not like it'd be a big burden on the playerbase. Hell it'd be a boom to our slice sells, especially if you're charging more than people did back then. As far as spices go I have a small house filled with spice. If someone really wanted some they could either come with me to Tatooine or wait on me to get back to them.

Tools are not illegal.

Spice is illegal.

Sliced anything is illegal.

Theed was a bustling commerce city...people hawked their wares, danced, laughed, dueled, and had a rollicking good time. Cantinas packed with Entertainers of every race, shape and size...along with scoundrels, Stormtroopers, and drunks. People grouped up and stuck together in the wilderness, and you ALWAYS took a Scout or a Ranger with you. We lived our own Star Wars saga. We created our own personas, our own histories, and it all blended into this wonderful, magical experience that I will always remember...

That magic is gone now, but I'd pay 50 bucks a month to have it back.

Editor's Note: The author of the above post has quit giving SOE her money. She suggests you do the same, because this game will never be what you want it to be.
