Wow, that blows.
Oh, and about the pirate MMORPG... supposedly there are 2-3 in development, including a Disney backed one based on Pirates of the Caribbean.
I'm toodepressed to look up links right now though.
I think L/A has decided they don't want to do an MMORPG anymore and are forcing the SOE folks to do stupid stuff to force the game into the tank. That way L/A can concentrate on Mercenary, Indiana Jones games and other PS2/3 and XBox stuff. Remember, there is almost no feedback on a console game, only reviews. There is no need for follow up and constant patches, bug fixes, expansions, etc. Just move on to the next title. They can sit in their fancy new San Francisco HQ and laugh at the stupid SWG geeks who actually thought anyone would listen to CUSTOMERS! After the demise of SWG we will see no more MMORPG's from Lucas Arts.
Doesn't ANYone remember the birth of SWG? Geez, it was only 2 years ago. The game was being worked on for a long, long time. Then all of a sudden it was live. L/A wanted the game out while the prequels were still hot. I still think that SOE has been partly a victim in the whole SWG fiasco.
I'd love to see a good space/ground Science Fiction game.After this, though, I'm afraid no one will want to touch the subject for a long, long time.

He never posts here though, but that man also has brilliant ideas for this game (most of which won't ever see the light of day due to LucasArts.) He also isn't specifically designated to the Smuggling stuff, but oh, if he was, you can bet I'd be happy about it.
I don't know how much I really like Blixtev...
Pex seems pretty cool, though it's fairly obvious he doesn't have any pull at all, and his neatlittle event perks are getting the nerf bat and there are still zero tools for events in space.
Darth Platypus seemed fairly responsive to some space issues during RotW beta. But I think he might be strictly a space dev. Then again, do they change space enough to need a full-time dev dedicated to JUST space? Probably not.
Ugh. Sad and disheartening news for us. Obviously good news for him; he moved on because that was what he wanted to do.
Explains a lot about why there has been NO communication about the Smuggler "Revamp" though.

Why do the words "rats" and "sinking ship" come to mind? Not that I would call GM a rat, mind you. But somehow it just feels as if this game is in a dive it won't get out of.
Apart from Blixtev, literally everyone of the actual coders who ever came across as giving a damn about this game and being passionate about it has left. The rest are just an anonymous crowd, easily substituted because nobody knows them anyway. Some employee turnover isa given in this industry I guess, butthere is just no continuity in SWG at all![]()
And I wonder how long Blixtev will still be on the team...
