1) Bounty Hunter seeks Smuggler to slice a weapon for him

2) Smuggler gets "marked".

3) Bounty Hunter kills Smuggler.. LOL

What if instead of marking a smuggler only for bounty hunters, the smuggler is marked on an opposing faction terminal.

Thus re-instating the long forgotten GCW. Imperials hunting down Rebel smugglers, Rebels seeking to end Imperial smuggling etc.

I like this idea if its tied to a mission give a rebel smuggler a mission to sneak guns into bestine, give imperial smugglers a mission to sneak into anchorhead and slice a terminal so the empire can monitor who uses it. Things like that CONTENT. For Neutral smugglers they can go up against the BH if you run a mission for Jabba maybe corsec or Nym will put a bounty on you.

CorSec is the correlian security force, you could call it police. Have you ever heard that the police hires a Bounty Hunter to do their job? We are not in the wild west where there is only one sheriff in town. And today Bounty Hunters chase people who were released on bail and tried to flee, and they are not paid by the police.

I think you are hitting on a very important point, one I mentioned also in another thread and that needs to be said as often as possible. Bounty Hunters are NOT SWG POLICE!! Let's not turn them into that. Most of the ideas that people are posting concerning the BH's and smugglers really have them being cops, and damnit that just isn't what they are or should be.

You want to expand the interaction between Bounty Hunters and Smugglers? Fine I'm all for it, but let's make sure that we do it in a way that makes sense. Bounty Hunters do not hunt someone because what they are doing is illegal, they hunt because someone paid them money to do it! Plain and simple, there is no moral code to the hunting of a mark, it's just a job.

To me there are two things I would like. A way for bounty's to be put on other players, including smugglers, for whatever fair andspecific reason. Second, better NPC policing of in game illegal activities. This would be the use, sale or posession of contraband items and equipment.

"No, you don't have to add every class into it, because we are the real illegal people, other people doing other illegal things would get on this system too (see the revamp idea)

They need to make this one big revamp

No Boba hunted Han because he was a smuggler how FAILED. he lost his cargo AND was not able to pay Jabba back not just because Han was a smuggler. If you want to hunt smugglers for smugglers you need a new profession called Cop and Corsec faction to hunt criminal faction."

Actually, with the addition of the Han Solo trilogy in the EU,Fetts hatred of Solo started even before the botched kessel run.Fett was hired by the Ylesian high priest to hunt Han for stealing valuble antiques from the priest's personal collection. the priest, being vendictive and slightly obessed, hired Fett for a live capture bounty on Han, so that the priest could punish the smuggler/thief himself. So, thanks to the creativity of several authors, the story keeps morphing and changing. BH's in the SWG are hitmen, plain, simple, effective. If you want someone dead, found, or captured, you hire a BH to do the dirty deed. its not just smugglers, its anyone who rubs you the wrong way. it was just easy for employers to hire BH's to collect debts from, or eliminate, their employees who screw up.

The empire had its own method of dealing with smugglers. total annialationfor the smugglers, and the pacification of their Hutt employers (while yes, most smugglers were independent contractors, the Hutts controled the majority of the smuggling operations in the galaxy.) While yes, im looking forward to the revamp, hoping its worth waiting for, and hoping they fix our profession before they turn BH's on us, i do think that they've really really restricted the bh profession as far as "Live" marks are concerned. make it all inclusive.some one slips up, they get whacked. /stepsoffsoapbox

"Rebels seeking to end Imperial smuggling etc."

Not to point out the obvious... but the empire didn't smuggle anything... they were the law, they made/changed the rules of the game as it suited themselves... therefore, stayed pretty much above the law. They used troop transports to get where they need to go, supply ships to move weapons, rations, and medical items to needed areas. the rebellion needed smugglers to do that, since they couldn't openly move about the board like a chess piece. Just a thought. No offense intended.

"I'll welcome any change that drives Smuggling underground and out of sight. People will have to find us for our services, and hopefully the payoff from smuggling missions will mean that we won't have to rely on slicing for creds, which should in turn solve the problem of it being so widespread."

I'd done pretty well, while creating my own smuggling content, and have only sliced a few pieces for creds. mostly, i set up a decent spice trade (it sells better than you think) on two different servers. i set up my harvestors and what not at point a). every other day or so, i take the resources from point a) to point b) where i set upa factory and a"warehouse" which holds the raw materials and finished spice. then go to point c) where i use a "fence" to dispurse my illegal product. this fence, usually being a bazaar terminal, as it gets my stuff traffic, which justifies the profession. i run spice, i don't sit around grinding it out. i go from point to point to point. there is some risk involved, but only financially, but you'd be supprised how fast pixie and muon sell in not only ME but also in coronet. did this on ahazi, and did this on chimera as well. With bothtoons, i've spent most of my online time "Smuggling" and when i have the chance for a breather, i go to jabba's palace or to some cantina to meet up with my other smuggler friends to do some rp. im not a slice monkey, nor a spice junkie, but use a pixie when a blaster fight ensues with some aggro spawns (rogue corsecs, thugs, etc) which seem to hit me several times a day, no matter whichdirection i go. not a millionare, but i've got more than my share of profits, which is what smuggling is supposed to be about.Alot of smugglers worked alone, but did groupup when needed, loved to hear each others stories, and takeeach others credits in sabbac when the oppurtunity presented itself. they helped each other out. not unlike our little "community".

Not to say i don't want the oppurtunity to smuggle for Jabba or someone else, but till that dream is realized, I smuggle for myself.

Ok, very simple system.....After a revamp and we get mission terminals and NPC quest missions. If you fail the mission or steal the goods, you end up on the BH hit list and thats it, no Slice or spice marks. Now people have an option; steal and get a mark or fail and get a mark (there has to be some risk guys) or dont do the missions at all and never get a mark. Very, very simple and fair.

"but then all they could do is add you to their friend list and do a /findfriend and your dead. i thought of that not too long ago. maybe they should disable adding friend when you chose the mission. but then they could have a friend of theirs do that. hmm. maybe they should just get rid of /findfriend"

this is only supposed to work if you have that person on your list as well... so if we have the ability to find out who is tracking us ie: by slicing a BH terminal, then we simply DON'T add them to our friends list. Don't know if it really works that way, given how the bugs work in this game, but thats the intention of it.

hey that's my style of Q&A

You system (while a good idea)is way more work then the devs will put in just to revamp us besides I dont understand why people are so worried about BH's the jedi system is improving (all be it slowly) and the dev team will work with what they have (a player hunting system that is in place not write a new one) they have said that about other changes to other professions in the past. Last point it is a bounty hunters job to hunt people who have peeved people off, not other smugglers. Let BH's be BH's and Smugglers be smugglers.

Thanks. It was from the first week I joined the PA Veers Elite on Scylla. I had never really done PVP before, and was still used to the Feign Death Method as a last resort. The few people who were with me all died and I didn't know it yet - so I was hoping they'd come back and help but they were all getting rebuffed for base defense. So I decided to take my usualy break on the hour from SWG to get up, stretch, play some Xbox, get some food/drink, etc. Occasionally stepping in to ask them why they were still camping me and poke a few friendly taunts as well as check my CSR ticket (to which, no CSR ever responded to - once again, no love for a smuggler in need).

At any rate, I don't really PVP anymore on my Phoenix character due to the fact that One I dropped all of pistoleer to become more of a businessman (said I never would but times are hard) and Two all I really have besides Dirty Fighting is Master TKA - against a Stacker, it's a no-win situation for Phoenix in Combat. So only PVE for me on him.

On my Alt account, once I finish my grind with him, I'll be Master Fencer, Master TKA, Master Brawler I think. So I'll be PVPing on him.

Back to Smugglers...missions on us I'm all for - if they WORK and aren't a form of griefing. They currently don't work for Jedi, so I'd rather not see them add something ELSE that won't work till they fix what CURRENTLY doesn't work.

My thoughts:

1. nah, leave it for the bh's only.

2. i'd base it not on difficulty, but on the smugglers infamy.

3. galaxy wide... lets not make it toooo easy for them to find us.

4. payaccordingto the smugglersinfamy based on a) how bad he's screwed up, b) how many bh's have tried for him, but died in the process.

5. only if they were also bh's

6. heck yeah. we are all brothers and sisters in the profession. we fight dirty, and in large numbers when need be, we help each other out of a jam, and help newer smugglers get started in the profession. its only fair that when we see one smuggler get jumped by a hunter, that we should have the option to jump in and tear it up. concequences of which give us visibility.

just my credits worth of ramblings.

in the perfect world, us ending up on bh terminals will come in the form of a mild bh revamp. in which they fix the bh mission glitch.

but as you know, this is swg... so if such a thing took place, it would take precidence our us, and so we'll still have a broken profession with little means of defending such an onslaught. then comes the smuggler revamp, so we finally get something good, then comes the combat balance, where everything we just got, gets nerfed, and we're once again defenseless. just my observation of how things work.
