Would you have a terminal where anyone could go to and get a mission to hunt a smuggler, even if they are not a bounty hunter? - Yes, it would appear on the opposing faction terminal instead of a BH Terminal. Neutrals could get missions from Jabba or Nym. - we are asking for missions that get us to truly smuggle items, the dev's will not also do a who new fact term system, not when they know how and what the GSW revamp will be all about.
Would there be mission dificulty? And if so, how would that be calculated? - Mission difficulty would be based on the players Faction Rank, and the Smugglers Faction Rank -devs will not go for this
Would it be planet specific, or galaxy wide? - Galaxy Wide, have to make it worth while.
How would payouts be handled? - Again, based on Faction Ranks - another whole new system the dev's wont go for
Would Smugglers be (unfortunatly) allowed to hunt other Smugglers? - I would think that smugglers of opposing Factions would WANT to hunt each other, to improve their business opportunities. - smugglers tend to stick together regardless of faction, Ive been a smuggler for a long time and seen it time and time again.
if opposite than above, If two Smugglers were in the area, and onje got attacked, could both smugglers attack the attacker? - If the smugglers are of the same faction, they should be able to backup each other in combat (if grouped)
hey that's my style of Q&A
You system (while a good idea)is way more work then the devs will put in just to revamp us besides I dont understand why people are so worried about BH's the jedi system is improving (all be it slowly) and the dev team will work with what they have (a player hunting system that is in place not write a new one) they have said that about other changes to other professions in the past. Last point it is a bounty hunters job to hunt people who have peeved people off, not other smugglers. Let BH's be BH's and Smugglers be smugglers.

yeah, the devs won't want to put too much into the revamp, i mean, its not like we're jedi or anything.

True, it is BS that they won't do much, even with stuff like this.
I would even run a whole forum just like this if they would let me, or I would run Q&A at the top like this for all posts
i wish i could say that i disagree, but the most common thing i've readfrom the promises is that "this takes alot of code" "that takes alot of code" this tells me its not going to be what we think its going to be... sure they'll add our missions... because thats what we all really want. they'll fix the bh issue seperately, and add us in there, logically, that would make sense, since they'd be already dealing with the bh codes to begin with. all im saying is, friends, i wouldn't expect too much from this thing. we need to make our own content with in the game for the time being, and perhaps, for all time after. who knows. just don't let your hopes and dreams get too high. hate to see such a great group of smugglers leave cause of future broken promises. remember, we're all in the same boat here. in fact, lets start a new discussion sometime, regarding what we can do ourselves in this game to improve our overall enjoyability of our profession. I dunno how many of you've read it... but i listed what i'd been doing while awaiting some "real" smuggling action as promised in our revamp.

You have to have them on your friends list for /findfriend to work on you. Just tried it by adding someone running by to my friends list and using /findfriend on them. Didn't work.

but then all they could do is add you to their friend list and do a /findfriend and your dead. i thought of that not too long ago. maybe they should disable adding friend when you chose the mission. but then they could have a friend of theirs do that. hmm. maybe they should just get rid of /findfriend

I think it is a great idea having smugglers get "marked" for performing illegal actions. I invite the idea whole heartidly. That is why I love this game. It is very diverse...right now. But it seems like everything is centering around BH "marks". I think everyone and their brother either has a Jedi, a FS character, or is working towards it. Eventually the only people playing are going to be BHs and their marks, along with the supporting professions, i.e. alternate accounts.
The idea of a BH tailing me everywhere I go is kind of intriguing (as a jedi). But the idea of EVERYONE being a threat is even more enticing (as a smuggler).
As a smuggler, let's just say I do get "marked", and I am out hunting in the wild and I see that dot appear on my radar, I target him/her and realize that it isn't a BH, I just dismiss them as a threat. But if we got "marked" on the opposing faction terminal where anyone can take a mission against me, suddenly EVERYONE I come in contact with is a threat.
In theory, isn't everyone in the galaxy supposed to be keeping the population of Jedi down to a minimum.
Wow, I just had an epiphany, bear with me here. What if, you had to work together to get Jedi marks. Smuggler slices a BH terminal in order for the Jedi missions to appear, BH takes the mission and tracks his/her mark, brings a Ranger with him/her to "track" his/her prey (assuming he doesn't just use /findFriend), Bio-Engineer extracts DNA from the Jedi (might be pushing it here), BH returns the DNA sample to Information Broker for his/her reward. What do you think. Might be a little far-fetched
One thing I saw here: "But the idea of EVERYONE being a threat is even more enticing (as a smuggler)." How would this be implimented? I'm being serious. Would you have a terminal where anyone could go to and get a mission to hunt a smuggler, even if they are not a bounty hunter? That doesn't sound to bad, if you think about it. Because only Bounty Hunters can track you. People can't just add you to their friends list and to /findFriend because they need to be on your list as well. And if a person has no investigation, it would take them forever to find you unless they know a shop location, or something along those lines. But Some other questions on that:
Would there be mission dificulty? And if so, how would that be calculated?
Would it be planet specific, or galaxy wide?
How would payouts be handled?
Would Smugglers be (unfortunatly) allowed to hunt other Smugglers?
if opposite than above, If two Smugglers were in the area, and onje got attacked, could both smugglers attack the attacker?
Things like that bring up a lot of questions, which we need more posts of. We need mroe posts asking questions, until there are no mroe to be asked. Like when people suggest something, questinos should be asked about it, because that is one step less for the devs to do, if we answer all questions, it could be easier for them, not that it will get anything till after JTL anyways.

It isn't too far-fetched, its just...like, I'm not a Bounty-Hunter, and if I was, I wouldn't wana do that process it seems way too long lol. But that is awsome thinking
Would you have a terminal where anyone could go to and get a mission to hunt a smuggler, even if they are not a bounty hunter? - Yes, it would appear on the opposing faction terminal instead of a BH Terminal. Neutrals could get missions from Jabba or Nym.
Would there be mission dificulty? And if so, how would that be calculated? - Mission difficulty would be based on the players Faction Rank, and the Smugglers Faction Rank
Would it be planet specific, or galaxy wide? - Galaxy Wide, have to make it worth while.
How would payouts be handled? - Again, based on Faction Ranks
Would Smugglers be (unfortunatly) allowed to hunt other Smugglers? - I would think that smugglers of opposing Factions would WANT to hunt each other, to improve their business opportunities.
if opposite than above, If two Smugglers were in the area, and onje got attacked, could both smugglers attack the attacker? - If the smugglers are of the same faction, they should be able to backup each other in combat (if grouped)

Why should a smuggler be afraid of a BH?They aren't suppose to be afrain of anything...understand when they are out gunned but not afraid.Smugglers are suppose to be some of the toughest dirt in all the galaxy. Not only do they have BHs after them from time to timebut other scoundrels like mercanaries and so forth who might find the shipmenet the smugglers is carry as a valuablecommodity themselves andsteal/ambush/persuade with forces the turning over of the cargo. Smugglers are not just delivery men, they are tuff, unpridictable, ellusive, creativeand a tough fight when cornered. As someone suggested we would have to havea PVP template if we were put on terms, thats not neccessarly true. It depends on how the terms are implemented and how the profession is revamped (revamped promised August 26, 2003 and still waiting).
If you notice greenmarines revamp discussion he talked about the possibility of two tier system. One in which you would develope visibility and eventually have NPC bounty hunters after you and another which would have PC BHs after you. Hence if this system was implemented and you didn't want to PVP you wouldn't have to.
Also if the profession is revamped properly from a combat perspective it might be more fun that you think having BHs following us. Again a smuggler needs to be ellusive first and able to squeeze out of tight places and bad situations and a tough fight if cornered (IMO). Hence if the revamp brings us some tricks or manuevers that allow us to escape (first objective)and some additional abiity to fight when cornered it will be a whole nother perspective for both BH and the smuggler and one that I would welcome openly.

Ben I must be the more foolish for I continue to follow.
Like I said before, I wouldn't mind being targeted. But as I have noticed a few times, this is what happens:
Ill run this
Low Blow->Panic Shot->Last Ditch
This is the result from the BH I am dueling (for fun and testing of course)
Dodge->Eye Shot->Dodge->Eye Shot->Dodge->Eye Shot
Even with two swigs of Brandy and some Muon, it's rediculous because all the BH has to do is eye shot.I wouldn't even say they ened to balance PVP, they need to balance mind damage, because it is currently rediculous. I don't even duel BHs anymoire because they just eye-shot me to death. I can't say much though, because if I had something that did that much mind damage, I would be using it as well. Maybe if last ditch was faster and effected mind only.....
heh Just another dream

That's one of my main points about it actually, as yimaz already stated, the combat revamp comes first. We have pretty much no idea what we will be able to do after the revamp and we have absolutely no clue what the BHs will be able to do, therefore I see no point in discussing this as too many is just guessing. The smuggler revamp won't be out two week after the combat rebalance, let's face it, instead it will most likely be out several month later, enough time to discuss this. Do yourself a favor guys and don't ask for things before you know what you will get to deal with them or they will probably "thow us a bone" as excuse for the revamp being pushed back again which we almost can't use.

I'm really, really glad I read this thread.
I've been peaking at these forums for weeks now, and wondering why in the hell anyone would want to be hunted by BHs when they are supposed to be somewhat able to take on Jedi, and our skills kinda... suck. I knew I must be missing something.
I thought, my god, that makes smuggler a very co-dependent type of profession -- you'd HAVE to have a master combat profession in order to live long!
What I failed to understand was that most of you seem to want to be hunted if you fail to complete a mission or if you somehow skim off the top. I was thinking that you wanted to be hunted "just 'cause" as you go about your normal business.
Anyway, now I'm seeing, yes, the missions would be fun, and it would be a nice challenge to be hunted, even if I got keeled if I failed. The mission-idea seems to indicate you would be somewhat in control of whether you were a mark - don't want to be hunted? Don't do missions....
I do think, however, that we would need additional skills or abilitiesto haveeven a remote chance against BHs if we didn't have a PvP template.
