Thread: My report so far from Fan Fest
Believe me, that is the last thing he wants us to be.

Just more stuff along the lines of us being spice and slice whores. Can't someone hit him over the head with a dictionary?

In that case, here's to hoping there's more meat in the stuff you can't tell us.

hey Fish any word on smuggler missions both NPC and/or Player based?
He actually asked me to PM him links to some of our best ideas for both. So I'll try and get that done today.

Nice........Caylins idea for spice missions through NPC is a great idea. Thank You BTW.
ACCCK! I knew there was something I forgot to bring up
Greenmarine writes..."I will be able to start work on an official revamp design. I'm going to write something up and have it posted on this forum, so you guys can begin to discuss it."
What happened to the work that was suppose to be here the last 3 promises? Or is that exactly it, NOTHING was done!
Another stinking carrott!

What GreenMarine says is very nice.
Just like what JustG said the other day was very nice.
It may change the minds of a few people who feel as if they were touched by God because a red-name said ANYTHING, but I really don't see anything new.
So (after JTL) GreenMarine may be the one to do the revamp. It it just me or is that deja vu? Weren't smugglers supposed to be the first profession that needed the most love before this game was released? And wasn't Smuggling promised to be on GreenMarine's schedule before?
It doesn't really change anything - just another round of promises only this time without a real time-frame beyond "really far away" so we still have no accountability.
I really don't see how shuffling us around to another Dev (no matter how good he is) changes the current situation, at all.
Come on, guys - would it kill you to document the Master Smuggler box? You know, put in the slice bonus?
Would it kill you to give us a melee move since we spend 29 points on a crappy bralwer tree that 99% of us have never ever used since we hit Novice Smuggler? Heck, last YEAR Raph said it wouldn't be that much to add a single move - yet it is still ignored. Do you know how frustrating it is to have to have a useless (to most of us) novice profession and spend that many points for...nothing? Should have left it at Business IV like it was in beta - more smugglers use vendors (or did before every smuggler product became so commodified on the bazzars) than use melee since we go from gimped to useless when we do.
Would it kill you to add a non-joke spice now that between buffs 'n brandy every one we have is obsolete?
I see several red name posts saying, "Not until after JTL, sorry...But let's discuss more!"
I'm just not excited about GreenMarine posting anything, I guess - because it isn't changing our situation, we've just been handed off again. More promises, but this time without any commitment.
I have no doubt GreenMarine is a brilliant man - and taking time to post on a Sunday was real nice of him - but no matter who says it, "No revamp until after JTLs" doesn't sound any different to me, nor does the bad feeling in my stomach go away when I think of those poor souls who have patiently waited a year as smugglers only to be told that their profession is actually part of another game the company wants you to buy.
Throw us a bone - fix up the foundation before you tear the rest of the place down to build a second story.
Talk is cheap, but so are we; givethe professiona few fixes/enhancements and you can buythe patience of those Smugglers you haven't already lost. Don't let this revamp end up like the Droid one - where yes, in the end, the added content it was nice but there were very few of those who had begun the journey left with us by the time they got around to doing it, leaving us with a handful of vets and a ton of "profession-of-the-week" people who don't know a crafting station from a gnort and bring all our reputations down.
Don't loose the valuable, amazingly brilliant, hard-working Smuggler veteran community you have now. It's nice that you are owning up to your prior BS (saying "no more BS is sort of an admittance that there has been BS before), but now you need to make up for it was well.

Well, just look at my sig. It tells a story....

Guys I've been just as pi***d as you guys about the broken promises. But with GM coming out on his own and posting it makes me feel quite a bit better. So give it a chance. I think we have been heard and are on the radar again.
Not a flame, but its just like every other time we've been heard and were on the radar again. We need proof, not more words. I appreciate all the "hey, they listened to us this time" stuff going on, but seriously, we've been here before and its gotten us nowhere. I'll need more than just text on a screen this time around. Its hard to believe them after all the past lies and disappointments.
Heck, it would be different if they made a concession or two - documented us, gave us SOMETHING to show faith on their part. But we're still getting nothing. Not a new spice, not documentation, nothing. So until we get some little thing to show that they mean what they say, I'm not buying, and will continue to remind this community of the past until either something changes on the SOE side, or I up and leave on my own.
Caylin has his role to play in this, and maybe this is mine - to be the guy that brings up the reality of the situation.

I spent a decent amount of time at the Fan Fest talking to Fishbrains and Veela, as well as a lot of other smugglers. A ton of good ideas and suggestions were discussed. I think I have enough notes stored in my PDA to give me enough work until the end of the year, even if I wasn't on the space expansion.![]()
A smuggler revamp is still probably not going to happen until after space, but I will be able to start work on an official revamp design. I'm going to write something up and have it posted on this forum, so you guys can begin to discuss it.
I can't give you a timeframe for the revamp. In fact, you'd probably kill me if I did and we missed it. I can say that I will pour my soul into making the smuggler revamp kick ass. It's very important to me that smuggler, ranger, and squad leader are made to be top notch professions.
You would have been proud of Fishbrains and Veela. They both pulled me aside at different times and made it very clear they didn't want any b.s. They made strong arguments and very solid feature suggestions. I know a lot of you have been contributing to the new design proposals. It's good stuff. If you can hang in there a bit longer, we'll deliver.
GM, I know you are focussing on others like smuggler now. And that's fine, they need it. But it was reported that from FF, when you were talking with Rangers, you have never heard of our Outdoorsman proposal.
I find this hard to believe and a little dishartening. I previous Coor and the whole community worked on it for a long time. TH says he is familiar with it, and likes it. But why is the actual dev of Ranger never even heard of it? It was also said that at FF the devs need the rangers to get down what we want to see in ranger. Well this really pissed us off, because again, we spent weeks working on the Outdoorsman proposal for you to see, and give "us" feedback on. We based it on the last thing we got from the devs, that ranger is to be a the master of the wild and creature hunting.
So please, Contact out Cooresponant, Calculus, and get a copy of the Outdoorsman. Maybe, if you have time, drop a post in ranger, saying you have, and will go overt it when you have time. Again, we rangers understand we got some work early on, and the chefs needed it, great job there, and now smugglers desperately need a revamp. But at least let us know we didn't waiste out time on the Outdoorsman.
Thanks, Continue with Smuggler discussions. ![]()
This is a good point. While im glad to hear from G.M. we were told in the past that he was going to work with us. I know he is working hard on SE and i can appreciate that, but based on what we have been told in the past i have to ask this question. WHEN can we expect this "ruff" outline, a week a month, a year?? I expect GM to do a great job but i expected him to do a great job 5 months ago. Can we aleast get an ETA on this new ruff outline?
