I see your point, but I can honestly say that I will. I try to look at everything in my life is this way:
- What have I been through previously?
- How does the current situation stack up to any past adversity I have faced?
- How successful have I been in overcoming past adversity?
- Where I have failed, how badly has the failure affected me overall?
Using these questions to guide me, it is true that I can sometimes be discouraged but usually I am able to set aside my discouragement pretty quickly. When I look back (Hindsight ALWAYS puts things in perspective for me) I can see that even the "bad things" in my life contributed to me being where I am today...which overall is a pretty good place.
Having had some pretty bad things happen in my life (not to downplay anyone else's RL troubles) I can honestly say that I have learned nothing bad lasts forever and that dwelling on the negative doesn't help.
Besides, if you want positive change you have to be positive....even if it means taking a deep breath and forcing yourself to be positive when all you really want to do is scream in fury
EDIT: BTW, I only joined the forums in August '04, but have been playing SWG for over a year. ISTILL joined the Smuggler profession...IN SPITE of the problems![]()

Actually, my comments about keeping it polite & constructive were more aimed at people who are disappointed at yesterday's post from TH andsee that as a reason to badmouth SOE and flame TH. When addressing comments to SOE (or to anyone we want something from) we should always remember that HOW we say something has just as much influence (if not more) as WHAT we aretrying to say. Insults and attacks putpeople on the defensive, which makes them less likely to want to accomodate oreven listen to us

I agree 100% however anytime someone posts "Im glad FD got nerf, it's a stupid skill" or "stop whining, my profession is nerfed more then yours"Im going to be rude and flame them, its just in my nature....I cant help myself.
Although I agree to an extent, I have a different reason why people need to cut TH some slack. He's just the messenger. He doesn't code, he doesn't draw, he doesn't even set priorities. He's here to communicate with us, and to be honest he and Tiggs get a bad rap for that.
As far as posting constructively, not anymore (unless I'm talking to or about Tiggs, TH, or GM). We tried that. You know what it does for us. It allows them to say well they're not taking this too bad so we can probably go through with this. Tyrant has earned little respect from me. JustG has lost all respect that I've had for him. These two people, who happen to be two of the only people from the design teams who seem to be allowed to post on the forums anymore, give us nothing but condescending, baseless, and sometimes downright belittling arguments and justifications for changes and delayed changes to the profession.
I'm not saying that I won't post constructively, I'm saying that the team has shown little to no respect to us as a community and a profession. I've tried being respectful. Most of us have. We continue to post our ideas, our opinions, and our wishes on how to make a positive change to the game. What we get in return are things like the FD nerf from out of nowhere and a continual wave of the hand when we ask about our revamp.
Don't forget, a player once tried to be constructive. He was ignored. He tried another "constructive" route, and we were called liars because of it. The fact of the matter is the writing is on the wall for them as exhibited in the "History of the Smuggler" thread. They've backed themselves into a corner with us and maintain a very staunch line in order to admit fault in the matter. Their posts are very telling in this matter. If they use our ire as some sort of justification of why they shouldn't post here or listen to us, then they deserve no respect because their actions are directly responsible for our reactions. Cause and effect. If you decieve, delay, and mistreat a group of people long enough, it's going to have a negative effect on them.
They are the ones responsible for the myriad of problems. It's time they either own up to them or at the very least correct them. That, and only that, will earn back some of the respect, patience, and admiration many people once had for this game and it's designers.
Good points and they are well taken, but that doesn't change my positive attitude and outlook

Guamareah,
Oh I completely agree with you that each of us individually can overcome problems in our lives. But I don't think you're comparing apples with apples here.
We simply don't have that type of control over what Sony does. Smuggling content is NOT critical to their bottom financial line for this game. If it were they would have long ago done something about it.
The simple fact of the matter is that they will put the resource expense where it either retains or gains the most subscribership. That is a fact of business for them. For nearly two years it has NOT been necessary to expend resources on smuggler content. I see nothing that has changed to make it necessary for them.
They are not going to give us a 'gift' without a well calculated possibility of a return on the investment.
Show me how circumstances have changed from the past 20+ months that would induce them to now spend their resources on real smuggler content and I'll happily share your positive attitude.

I understand that you folks are eager to get this information and I understand how important it is to you. Things are happening on that front and as soon as we can, we will let you know. This is something we can look forward to in the future, it is just the timing that is unclear.
In his PM, he acknowledged that he knows this is not what we'd like to hear as a response, but that right now that is the best he can do.
I am not going to read too much into his actual words (i.e. that "right now" might infer something is coming soon) but the fact that he even bothered to send me a PM(who am I after all?
), when he could easily let his forum post stand on its own, speaks highly of him and his motivations. As far as I am concerned, TH is doing the best he can given a difficult position. Not that I wouldn't like more actual information from the Devs, but this action on his part DOES speak louder than words in my book.

Looks like with the sudden influx of non-smuggler eclipsians, your appeal had some affect. Gonna go do the same for Kettemoor.
Argh... can you guys help me out a little here? My one-star bandit friend hit my post on the Kett boards already, and I don't want this one at least to go down looking like crap.
