So people can see the "Hard" evidence that slicing is random.

nice chart. it still goes to show, and prove by your chart, that slicing is indeed random!

Hmmm impressive work....i found simliar results on a 500 item scale 250 of each type....

I'm wondering if we get the new FS skill of Luck....if by some chance we could get lucky and get higher %'s??? really it'd only make sense to add that ot a smuggler....Luck 4 and get a much higher chance of hitting those 35/45's

Exarukun; "HA! Proof that it is totally and 100% random. "

No, not really unfortunately. The numbers presented show a distribution and limits to type of slice and %.

They do not show that the sequence oris random. To do that you'd have to see the entire data set in order and evaluate the numbers for some kind of sequencing...and I doubt anyone here could do that by eyeballing it.

For example, I can hand out a sequence of 0s and 1s such as: 01001100011100001111

The distribution is 50/50 but there is nothing random about the sequence and IF you actually noticed such apattern you could predict the next number quite easily.

Still, I don't for a moment believe that there is any sequence you can see in a set of slices for the simple reason that there are a large number of players being issued server-side pseudo-random numbers with varying connection speeds, packet losses and lag. So basically you can NEVER know which numbers you're recievedwere sequentially generated in order to SEE any pattern.

But, as I said, these numbers do not prove randomness in the sequence of slices...only shows distribution.

Dian-Wei; "There is probably something like smugglers luck, which means some days your on and others your not. Logistically I'm not sure what type of algorithm it would take to do this butdoesseem to ring true."

Huh?

You DO understand that you can flip a coin 50 times and there is STILL a finite, non-zero, probability you will get all 50 heads?

Just so you know I sliced 6 suits of composite a few months ago in one evening and, while the mix of effectiveness to encumberance was just about 50/50 I got lucky and did 5 of the 6 helms as encumberance.

So what does that prove? Absolutely nothing at all.

YOU are looking at these pieces of armor as 'different', the server just gives you a bunch of pseudo-random numbers that resolve into 0s and 1s for effectiveness or encumberance. The random number generator doesn't give a fig if the item ID means 'helmet' or 'boot' to you.

Really...I'm just amazed.

I find it very odd you never hit above 35% on encumbrance.

I've been watching my numbers and I hit 45% on a stun helm yesterday. But then 10 slices before thatI hit 11% on leggings. Lol I should have recorded the 515 pieces of armor I've sliced in the last week.
