So what JustG is saying is that we rank below Jedi in SOE's estimation. Just look at the facts. Jedi 2 MAJOR publishes. Smuggler 1 publish maybe sometime next year. IN THE 2nd YEAR OF THE FARKING GAME!

Actually I think the Smuggler revamp will be the expansion pack after JtL. It will be when they finally get done fixing the problems with the ground game and the inevitable problems they will have with the space expansion. So about another year down the road will all will have to buy an expansion pack called: "SWG: All remaining professions finally fixed."

I have been the SWG boards since longBEFORE SWG Beta came out. I even was one of the peeps argueing in favor of origional Outcasting Rules befor they were scrapped for the current ones.


I have also participated in the Beta of this game, since Shuttle 4 of Beta 1.


And Ihave to say that I havenever seen a Profession toobe as jacked as the Smuggler in this game by the Devs.


From the BEGINNING the Smugglers have gotten the short end of the stick, resource wise. Smugglers were never even introduced into the game until just before Beta 4was opened.


All throughout Beta 1-3, we have constantly asked, where was the Smuggler profession? And we never got a decent reply back.


In fact I had to confront Holo on these boards before we finally were told by himthat yes, all the resoources that was earmarked for the Smuggler profession was beingshifted to the crafting professions, because youkepttotally revamping crafting time and again.


You FINALLY cobbled together the abortion of what we now call Smuggler Profession and introduced itjust before Beta 4, and it NEVER got any decent testing timebefore Publish.


At the time, this was tolerated, because we understood that the Devs were running out of time to get the game to Publish, and we were given the impression that we would be gettin a revamp soon to make up for the lack of attention that was shifted elsewhere during Beta.


Now, we are being told that we are NOT going to be revamped until AFTER the first Expansion?


And all you can say is that your sorry and understand our frustration?


What a crock of BS!!


You Devs have given us the shaft all throughout Beta, and now all throughout the life of theGame, and now your saying Not until aferthe SE is out?


Can youREALLY expect us to be understandingnot to be extremely pissed off at this point?


Can you really expect this from us?

Hmm can you be more clear? Do you mean that Smugler Revamp won't happen for Publish 9 (first plan), nor Publish 11 (2nd plan), but after the release of Jump to Lightspeed?

Actually lets read between the lines for a moment...

The devs are only addressing issues which need to be resolved in order to release the expansion. Jedi just happens to have one hell of a revamp now, simply because all attention will be placed on JTL. This is why the combat revamp has been pushed right near the release of JTL. Why? Because they can do a half-ass job knowing that most dedicated players will buy the expansion, leaving a smaller amount of people being worried about ground related issues when they're flying high in the sky. At the same time, they're promising revamp after revamp, stretching us along until JTL is released.

If the smuggler revamp is to be fixed after JTL, wouldn't you think they'd be working on it now and possibly release it with the expansion? Seeing as how smugglers will play a better role once the expansion is released, you'd think they'd be working on it now with beta on the doorsteps.

JTL issues will take priority once it is released. Saying the smuggler revamp will come after JTL is released, is more or less saying it'll come out 7 months from now.

Yeah, the days of the cut and paste reponses are getting quite old. "No answer at this time" crap.

Well, I am just happy to get any kind of response really.
Gives me more time to master both Pistoleer and Smuggler.
And in the, "how to get pistol xp" ppl should note that, Bocatts are Social and when you shoot one, they all will attack. Didn't know about that one, and found out last night, hehehe, run Violet run.

The problem is there will be problems between Galaxies and JTL, this will then take more development time to sort out and push it back even further. People will then want more space content and the ground based game will be left to rot. They should fix the core game before adding more problems to the game.

JustG -


First, I applaud you for coming out to talk about this. I hope when you get a chance at the FF, or when you return, you can address this issue more fully.


As someone who has been a "casual" smuggler since last Fall (only mastering it a few months ago) on my alt I have been anxiously awaiting the revamp.


While it's understandable that a "full" revamp is being delayed until Space, you guys REALLY need to give a bone or three to smugglers in the meantime.


A new master spice (and while you are at it - fix the master smuggler box so it at least lists the slice bonus - it's a sadoversight at this point, a year into the game- some people don't believe we get a slice bonus at master), a fix/enhance to one or two of our specials, adding that smuggler "any planet to any planet" ticket idea - ANYTHING.


You just can't expect people to sit and wait five or six months after waiting a year already to have a playable profession that isn't simply viewed as a commodified service like smuggling is now. Being a smuggler means crappy combat skills (though even post-nerf I'm still a fan of feign death), crappy spices that are rarely used in these days of buff 'n brandy, and we get to be treated like a fast-food worker whenever we put up our "Master Smuggler" title by people who want us to drop whatever we are doing and slice six sets of composite for 500cr each.


You need to give smugglers SOMETHING between now and then. Don't let the profession die before you get a chance to fix it fully - as we saw with the mass exodus in the DE community in spite of some of the excellent changes in Publish 7 and 8 (there are less than a handful of veteran DE's left on the boards), people will not wait forever and are just going to grow more resentful.


There are some awesome, dedicated smugglers out there - I don't want to see them quit because they are told "no soup for six months for you!" and be left with a bunch of noob, profession-of-the-week smugglers when you do revamp (as us DE's have experienced when a so-called "master" comes up to us to ask why "combat modules" don't show up in their crafting tool because they don't even know how to use a private crafting station).


Give people incentive to stay, JustG- wait and see until after space may be the long-term situation but you can mitigate the damage caused by it if you do something to inject some fun into the Smuggler profession sooner rather than later.


Don't let the community go down like this.

I have to say this is really disapointing....Like other players I really hope you will at least give us something to tide us over because like MANY have said there will be plenty of bugs with JTL. At that rate the revamp will be delayed indefinitely....


But then professions with far less amount of players like image designer get a nice lil revamp. Its crazy.



Not much has changed since I returned to this game. Im starting to have my doubts again. Here is a rule that you should follow...



The Original Game Should Be Fixed And Complete Before You Release An Expansion!!!!!

I sincerely doubt getting a revamp immediately after JTL...If we are a space based prof we shouldn't ned a revamp as we should be fully inorporated into JTL. Oh well I'm dropping smuggler anyway...Bought the game to be a smuggler...Realized there was no such thing as a smuggler in the game...OH well...Maybe if there is eventually a good revamp I will become a smuggler again.

Exactly. I don't know how many times over the last few days I've been whining about the main aspects of this game needing to be fixed. My main concern is with the GCW - one of the major elements that define the starwars universe (especiall in the game's setting). The GCW is limited to ST farming, expensive faction bases, and Rifleman/Cm's dominating PvP. They all tie together and play much more of a role as opposed to Jedi - in this time period. Even if we stop relating this game to the movies and countless books, the conclusions would still be the same. Priorities being shifted between normal professions (which out number jedi) to Jedi, is outrageous. We could sit here and debate everything that's going wrong or right with the game and yet still find more then enough common ground to question the motives and priorities.
