Thread: Smuggler delay

Sad, just sad.
Your focusing on jedi, ok, thats nice, I think while yer at it change the time line to Ep. 1. And change Vader into Anakin, Obi-wan from Dead to Alive, luke from alive to unborn, etc etc etc..
My only question is why does jedi revamp come before the combat revamp, when the "normal" proffessions where here first. I don't see why "normal" proffessions can't be atleast almost as cool as being a jedi. So many things wrong yet you guys want the jedis to be happy first.
Because, Xikor, the way it seems to be set up isno one will be playing the regular professions after the Jedi revamp. They will all be Jedis.

JustG,
While I think most people here understand that schedules shift and priorities change, I think the wholesale lack of feedback to the communities in this very crucial time for SWG is the problem.
In the next few publishes we are looking at:
- A complete revamp of the combat system, changing the way the game plays for everyone;
- A revamp of what should be the crown jewel of this game - the GCW;
- A complete reimagining of the system by which you become Jedi - a profession choice that a huge majority of the playerbase desires to take in one form or another;
- A complete reimagining of the way Jedi play and interact with the world - including their rarity in the game.
This list constitutes nearly a completely new game from the ground up, yet as far as I've seen there has been little attempt to involve the community in the planning phases. The smuggler rollback is yet another instance of no information coming back to the community as to why or how these things are happening.
Smugglers have been asked for list after list, and many members of the community have devoted significant amounts of time to producing these documents. What would help immeasurably is if you or Runesabre or someone would come back to each of the affected communities and say "Look fellas, this is where the Dev team is on the issue. This is what we are thinking of doing - does it make sense to you? Is it what you want? Are there some holes that could be filled? How do you suggest we fill them?"
We are still at the point now where we are throwing ideas into the void, hoping they will be read and implemented. This applies to the Smuggler revamp as well as the list above. Based on past history - we then expect that there will be a Friday Feature or a set of patch notes telling us what is changing and that will be it (for example: the crafting revamp, the switch of the FS slot to the main rather than the secondary, etc).
If the community feels involved - really involved - in the changes, they will more than likely support you when they are implemented and will understand if they need to be pushed back (because there is hard information that we can look at and say "That will be really cool - I can see why they need the time to implement it").
For the mood to improve throughout the forums, you need to get someone from the team involved out here, doing the "here's where we are thinking of going - what do you think?" back-and-forth discussion with the Smugglers, the GCW forum, the Jedi, the Combat players, etc. Sure the signal-to-noise ratio might be lower than you'd like, but in the end you'd forge a dedicated core of players that believes in the changes being made to the game.
It may be a little dramatic to say, but this is the most crucial hour for SWG. So many fundamental changes to the game in a short period, each with the potential to drive away a large proportion of the core subscribers. I'm pleading with you to make use of the collective gameplay expertise on these forums and include us in your thought process when designing these fundamental systems.
Thank you,

This is just so right on the money. Much better articulated than I could manage, but exactly how I feel.
Other's have said it well enough already - just to echo their sentiments:
We're mad because of the perception you've been lying to us all this time, stringing us along 'n keeping the carrot just out of arms reach. We see that you're trying to do the same thing with yet another request for a community document with just a slightly different spin to those asked for from us before.
If you truely want things to be peachy with the community behind you rather than in a state of dark, deep depression, frustration and resentment, finally begin the communication you talk about - bring us in to the fold enough so that we can receive feedback from our ideas in order to give us not just the fortitude and motivation to keep on giving you ideas, but for us to have something to build and work from in order to tailor our ideas to your and the game's need.
How many of each profession on any given server?
How many Jedi would there be assuming grinding isn't being eliminated?
How many Jedi will there be after the revamp?
Sorry, but the main professions win. There are no where near the amount of Jedi compared to normal professions. Holo grinding could have been eliminated and replaced with a quest bases system long before a total Jedi revamp was even thought up.
Apparently the devs forget the name of this game: Starwars *Galaxies*. While Jedi make up a part of such galaxies, they're far from the majority. There are countless issues which are being passed up so that I can quest for a Jedi and come up with my own template. Hurray! What about the core of the game? The GCW and combat? Don't you these two issues play a larger part in the galaxy as opposed to a rare, diciplined group just as the Jedi?
When holo grinding is done people will settle down to X profession. If you're not a crafter or going after your Jedi, then you'll be PvP'ing. PvP is already dominated by CMs/Rifleman and will eventually get worse. The lower demmand for resources will eliminate the need to buy Architect's last cash crop. Countless issues revolving around the ending of holo grinding and the devs are working on a Jedi revamp?
When I first mastered commando, there was roughly a 14 second delay on acid rifle specials. It took 6 months for the devs to release a hotfix. Why should I expect anything less then what we've been told so far reguarding any profession?

be happy with what you have, smugglers. dev acknowledgement and an interactive correspondent that actually knowssomething related to his profession and actually openly expresses his opinions on something, and isn't afraid to badgerthe hell ouf of the devs,is a hell of a lot more than CHs have.
Well then you need to get your correspondent to step it up if you feel they aren't doing a good job in your eyes. The CH class has been working since release. Through the constant nerf cries and actual nerfs taht went in, CH is still a good class. I have a character that is a master CH so I'm not making any blind statements.
You said be happy with what we have and the only thing we have is a correspondent with a backbone. Developer attention is so minute in regards to us that some are even asking for half-assed fixes that can be revisted later. The CH profession has received a good deal more developer attention than we've seen in the whole 9+ months we've been here, but I don't want to continue this "you got this and I didn't" tug of war.
JustG. Like others have said. This would have been an acceptable response had we received this some time ago. Maybe even months ago. Judging by how well we came up with ideas for our profession and commented on which are great and which could be built on despite the constant smuggler fix push-backs should state just how mature we are. The patience we displayed after being promised so many things so many times thenstillshowing we havethe will to write up another draft after being asked for the fifth time "What do we want smuggler to be?" says that whatever the reponse may have been in regards to our revamp we would have accepted it calmly and maturely.
You need to understand that this is not a bunch of kids crying about not getting our way. This is a group of adults who are dissatisfied with a work ethic that we did not condone ourselves. Had we displayed the work ethic we perceive the developer team has you wouldn't have received any information about any potential ideas we had. You wouldn't have received I don't know how many drafts made so that an iconic profession actually has something to do besides provide a service that's supposed to be hush-hush to start with but has become so commonplace that many don't want to do it anymore.
In short, we deserve better treatment than we're getting and we need that to be completely understood by everyone who works at SOE.
Woah, calm down guys. We have to give them time to fix the real core professions in SWG. Like Chefs, Entertainers, Image Designers, etc. Smugglers played a very small role in the movies. Off the top of my han I can't even think of a solo smuggler in the movies. But who can forget such important players like that dancer that got eaten in Jabbas palace, or Aunt Beru pouring milk before getting killed, or.... well, I can't think of an image designer example but I am sure there was one somewhere. I mean, obviously someone had to of fitted Luke with a new hand.
