Thread: Julio Torres sets date for Smuggler content, places self in cross-hairs...
Julio Torres: We are aware and sensitive to the fact that Smugglers need content to enjoy. We are currently working on this, and players should be able to enjoy the new content in November.

I think you are all missing the point.
From what has been said in the HoC chat and various interviews where they constantly mention players are gonna be happy with the expansion and i seem to recall even a mention of "smugglers may even get something in the expansion" I fully expect our smuggling missions to be PART of this expansion.
In other words... why has it been continuously delayed? Because they were waiting for an oppatunity to make us PAY for it.
and if you really believe that smugglers are getting any thing but the shaft again you are more niave then i am. i sit here hoping that all this will be true this time, then i look at the amount of posts in this forum about the "smuggler revamp" being promised before and realise that i should go for the lowest common denominator and be happy with the fact that smugglers are still in the game.

SWG Vault: Can you tell us when EXACTLY we will see the full Smuggler Revamp? And if you can't tell us, can you please tell us why?

I believe that this can be interpreted intwo ways:
1) We are working on Smuggler content and Smuggler players should be able to enjoy their new Smuggler content in November
2) We realize Smugglers need content. We are working on content but it's not necessarilySmuggler content. However we believe that they should be able to enjoy this new (non-smuggling)content in November.
Actually, I believe that option 1 is more likely. However, the "should" qualifier in the second sentence leadsme to believe that Smuggling content is a goal for November but not high priority andcould be a causality if they experience design delays.
and just what content are we going to enjoy any way. almost everything i have tried since july 22 is broken. i have had a friend who did the mining ship mission recently and it was broken. i did the mission for the guy outside of the coronet spaceport and it is broken. and this is an "advertised" quest in the log in screen.
when is SOE going to realise that they need to fix the game first and add to it later?
I see this as an opportunity to sit back and say to myself:
"Self, what are we going to do today? I dunno Self, I was thinking maybe we could watch some TV. I heard the History Channel has a special on tonite about Spy Gadgets. Really, Self? Wow. Hey Self, are you going to grab a beer? Why yes Self, would you like one? Sure. Grab some pizza rolls while you're at it. Ok, Self."
Moral of this story? I talk to myself alot.

The ability to SMUGGLE is not just content -- this term "content" makes light of the fact that weare not functional. SMUGGLING IS WHAT A SMUGGLER DOES! IT IS FUNCTIONALITY! IT IS A BUG FIX! IT IS NOT "CONTENT." Ugh.

You know, I'd like to see smuggling missions as much as any other Smuggler... but I'm tired of hearing that rationalization.
Smugglers were never designed to smuggle in this game, therefore their inability to do so is not a bug. It is a desired feature, ergo, "content".
I'm a Colonel - why can't I command a Regiment? Must be a bug! OMGWTFBBQ?!?
You're both wrong.. it's a crime.

Its funny how they had time and manpower to develope an entire expansion but not be able to do the smuggler revamp.
/shrug
So let me get this straight. The smuggler missions are very likely going to tie in with Mustafar? A planet without a space zone? I want toflypast imperial blocades in my YT-1300 with contraband bound for a rebel base or avoid Dark Sunraiders while delivering spice to aJabba. I really, reallydon't want to smuggle some f-ing LAVA LIGHTSABER for a J3daiby sneaking ontoa shuttle on Mustafar.
I have a feeling there's going to be maybe 1 or 2 quests that will invlove Smugglers and it will probablyinvolve smugglingsome phat loot that onlyjedai and bounty hunters can use.

Hi there TashunkaSapa --
Of course, you are correct! Since they had yet, upon publishing this product, to put in the smuggling code, then the lack of smuggling would not be considered a bug. As I stated in my post, I am cranky today and you have actually made me laugh out loud (thanks, I really needed that!) at your passionate expostulations here regarding me having called it a bug. LOLLERSKATES!11!!eleventyone!!1!111!
I know it's not a bug in the development sense; I work on software. But crankiness tends to make me dramatic, and I am frankly as tired of hearing people call this merely "content" as you are of hearing people call it a bug -- and actually, I have not seen many people call it a bug, so hmmm...
Anyway: Smuggling is FUNCTIONALITY specific to... yep, the Smuggler profession, and auser who purchased the productwouldreasonably expect it to have been implemented once the product was available for purchase (as this user did). Calling it "content" is a misnomer, as long as we are being picky.
So as not to make you more tired, and to correctly classify the lack of Smuggling for Smugglers, I shall henceforth call Smuggling "the functionality of the Smuggling profession." ![]()
My Smuggler is non-functional in the Smuggling department. My Smuggler is missing functionality in that she cannot Smuggle. Because the function of Smuggling has not been implemented, there are no functional Smugglers in SWG. Even Han cannot Smuggle.
And after two years of being told that this functionality (that THIS particular user expected to be able to use upon purchasing the product) would be implemented "asap" then "soon (tm)" then "after JTL" then "after the CU and ROTW" then... well, you get the picture -- it tends to make one cranky. =)

FYI Smuggling and the method in which it would be represented in game was talked about by the developers pre-launch and was lauded as an example of player interdependancy, so it was designed initially, it just didn't get into the game at launch because it was pushed forward before certain features (such as player vehicles, mounts and player cities that were released some months later) were ready.
