Thread: Concerns about slicing.
AHHH....well as you all must know by now .....our disagreement, our anger, our frustation, our suggestions are basically meaningless. How long has the Smuggler Profession been asking for more interesting content? Sad indeed. The last 3 Patches have supposedly fixed bugs....but LOL have added as many as they fixed. Yea we can slice again....but what is the point in being a Master if a noob can slice as well as we can? And at this point....it would seem if the noob got the looted component they would produce better slices than a Master......where is the bonus for Mastering the Profession here ?
I seriously doubt any of our comments are given much thought by the devs. And why should they care.....instead of maintaining their customer base Sony has decided to do massive TV advertising. We are expendable in the eyes of the company....some newb will come along with a stack of game cards and do all the slicing you can do....OH and btw he'll be able to do it in a day or two what with double xp week every 2 or 3 weeks LOL
Oh and if you decide to run to EQ II.....guess who owns that one too .....

Well as much as I hate to interrupt what appears to be a raging multiplayer rant against Sony, I'd just like to input some constructive criticism here.
I like the new slicing system. I don't think looted componants are that bad, because once people start to recognize what smugglers need to slice they will appear for sale everywhere, priced according to how easy or hard they are to get (give or take a few idiots charging 100k for a Simple Toolkit). I like how we can control what the slice outcome is, and affect more aspects of weapons and armor including (and I am assuming here) aspects that WS's and AS's can't effect. Gives slicing a unique role.
What I don't like is how every single slice we have goes up to Level 3, except weapon speed. Way too confusing. What I would ask is that weapon speed be redone such that there is only three levels to the slice. It makes explaining it to non-smugglers easier, and it makes pricing the slice easier. No doubt this is way more complex of a request than I realize, as I see this requiring a small rework of the smuggler trees, but I thinkit would be well worth it.
Here's hoping this post gets read. *crosses fingers*
How about letting us STACK the freaking things?
They annoyingly find their way into every nook and crany in every container, house, ship and factory I have! *grumble*
Please SOE! Let us help clean up your data base, give us component STACKING.
If smugglers have to use Looted components then what is the need for the smuggler and why is it slicing. Not that I am for or againts looted components. You would think that if a WS can build a gun he should know how to put loot components in it to.
If a Blaster has a Damage and speed cap and the Imps and Rebel think this is legal, why when a smuggler slices it dose it become Ilegal, yet it will still be at or under the cap.
1. No more gaggles of MS's spamming SP's to slice gear for 2k a slice. How freaking Star Warsy was that???
2. It fustrates many to the point of surrendering smuggler thus making me more rare.

i just scanned the bazaar for these components across the galaxy.
i found ONE for a 3rd level slice and NONE for any other slice beyond level ONE . it cost 1.5 million..... the only slice i could do without tools gives me 2%.... there is no way i could EVER get these components on my own as a CL23 master WS/Master Artisan.

Hate to say it , but i agree, I've been a smuggler (or leveling smuggler) since the first day I played this game. Between this BS and the CU i'm done with the prof. and probly the game altogether. The thing that really set SWG apart for me was that most of the game was in the players hands, but all this loot based stuff just ruins it for me. I wouldn't care if I had to buy upgrade kits off another prof. then try to modify those to different levels or combine a couple different types, but loot whoring tools is too much for me.
With the smuggler revamp the thing we all wanted was content. I just don't see it. I hope that this system is modified and the prof is given the content and level of detail it deserves so those who stick it out waiting for yet another revamp don't feel even more cheated.
I haven't read all post in this thread so I dont know if its been mentioned before, but having the smuggler loot drop from krayts and goraxes is not a good idea imo.
As a weaponsmith I know how hard it is to loot tissues in the first place and having even more things in the loot table to compete with the drop of these is just taking the fun out of krayt hunting.
As a smuggler it is also annoying to have to compete with the other items on the loot table especially when looted components is almost the only way to do something worthwhile with the profession.
Why not let the smuggler tools drop of some other highend mobs that is currently not used for profession specific loot.
Like the maurauders on Endor.
Im sorry for this rant, but it doesnt seem thought through to have all the usable stuff drop from a few creatures in the game and frankly Im getting sick and tired of beating up krayts. If smuggler tools dropped of something else Id at least ahve a bit of´variety of pray

That's what bothers me so much. I bought this game (The Big-Bad "Give Me Shades" Collector's Edition even) to be a smuggler. This is the very first time I've even considered just quitting the game entirely. I'm gonna give it a month... Or until we get something from a Dev saying that this is the best way for it to be and it ain't changing.
Then I'm outta here. Which really saddens me.
