Thread: Help out Thunderheart Poll on Slicing experimentation
A
crafting is for artisans
the randomness of slices makes weapons and armor unique.

There should, IMO, be experimentation (i.e. quality of the tool matters) on upgrade kits.
B...
buuuut... only if the experimentation applies only to AUKs and WUKs -or- Laser Knives and Clamps cannot have crafting experimentation applied to them somehow, only whatever experimentation slots are available to Master Smugglers. (dont want to have to drop TKA just to master Artisan so I can slice someone else's weapon!)

This is why. WE ARE NOT A CRAFTING CLASS. I don't want to be a crafter, I want to be a cracker, hacker, scoundrel, rogue, a pirate. This is all about mixing up wires and getting lucky, hitting below the belt, not hunting down uber resources.
Smuggler is about smuggling, getting lucky, gambling.....not looking for resources. Let's keep this profession within the feel of Star Wars.
It's about the moving of product and information past authorities....not surveying for metal to make clamps. Not MAKING the spices themselves.... but moving them, pushing them, delivering them.
Plus, we can't make WUK's and AUK's. How does that come into play? Maybe the smuggler should get the schematics for these.
You'll totally unbalance everything. Everyone will have 40% damage slices if this is the case (and the choice option goes in too).
The fact that slicing can be so random keeps the uber factor in check.
What he said.

If I wanted to run harvestors or pay out the nose for resources I would be a fricking artisan class.
Now how about making being a master even more advantageous? LET US PICK DAMAGE OR SPEED.
Let's face it, if you are modifying a gun you don't randomly mess around for it and hope it gets better. You may make it a hair trigger to get more speed, or you may modify the barrel to increase the velocity of the bullet (damage).
The same applies for armor - either you are trying to stengthen it or lighten it. You don't cut the liner out of your jacket and expect it to be warmer.
