Thread: Concerns about slicing.
Just another short note about grouping: before combat upgrade (downgrade) I had the pleasure to group quite frequently with fellow teammates on various hunting expeditions. The groups were made up of a variety of professions and of different levels.
Since Combat Downgrade (upgrade as you call it) grouping has been nearly impossible....with the exception of my searching out newbies who want a level 80 to group with for the xp. This was you idea of improving the game....BAH!!! Then to make matters worse you removed any kind of decent resources from the game for....what is it now....how many months....seems like a year! So what the hell are we supposed to group to hunt??? DWB.... the jedi only dungeon???
I am very sad....even the emporer could have thought up a better plan than this.....then the only profession that has gotten NO real attention in 2 years and gets screwed even further in CU.......totally gets the shaft again in Patch 19.
Boy you guyz must be rolling in money to not give two hoots about the people who pay the bills.
Didnt anybody go to college and learn a little bit of simple psychology.....force people to do something and they resist....and with a passion!! As far as grouping is concerned you destroyed it for the forseeable future! So there goes any hope on your newest screw up.....smuggling plan B (blah). Who in their right mind is gonna share these components even if i was grouped with them....and dont forget the "Free for ALL" rule allowable in each group.
Everything you've done ....a few things withstanding....in both CU, Pub 18 ( gee my alts lights dont even work ...wow what a fix) and Pub 19....are the work of someone who totally doesnt understand or care about the people PAYING THE BILLS!!!
DOH!!! And I had a one time considered buying 2 more accounts to my existing 2.....boy was I confused.....or perhaps I was only drunk.....hmmm maybe thats who wrote this code.
Plan B sucks dudes.... 1 convertable kit out of a crate of 25? three hours of hunting on lok without a single drop? Ooh ooh - how about the fact that high end weapons are effectively unsliceable due to the hard caps?
Answer me this, oh high and mighty developers... how am i supposed to grind out my FS senses trees now that slicing xp has been removed completely? Am i supposed to drop a chunk of my tempolate just to get a different skill that i can convert? You gonna give me the last box i need? Somehow i doubt it. Good work here guys... outstanding job across the board.
Im starting to agree with all the cynics that post on these boards: your idea of "fixing" all the problems with the smuggler proffesion is to drive people out of it in frustration, hence reducing the incoming complaints.
Do me a favor.... tell me how i can go about getting the next eight months of my subscription fee back. After 16 mos of this nonsense i dont think i want to pay for the priveledge of being sodomized by SoE anymore.
Can we lock this thread now? Please? Unless everyone is enjoying the little pity-party going on here.
You all are breaking my freakin' heart. "Poor me.... everyone hates us. Now I have to interact with other people in a multi-player game. I may have to buy loot components instead of making them from dirt-cheap, crappy materials." Oh, cry me a river.

If you hate this so much, why do you keep paying them? Seriously,I have lots of games I hated and don't play and I'm not even paying a subscription. Obviously, you can do what you want with your time and money, and if you wanna pay $15/month for a game you hate and the privilage of crying about it on forums, that's your choice. Just seems kinda silly to me.
i don't think that having to group, or having to make an effort to get a good slice is the problem most have.
it's the fact that once again they've put the focus on loot.
it's the fact that they didn't make the slicing system even the slightest bit fun or interesting or challenging.
the only challenge in slicing now is having to kill high end mobs, or bargain with a loot camper. and those challenges are NOT unique or interesting, and they have nothing to do with the idea of Smuggling.
"Plan B" is lame. it's just lame.
i don't care if they make getting a high-end slice the most difficult thing in the game. the effort is not the problem. it's the way they went about creating an effort.
plus it's the fact that any after slicing risk was removed. so we're back to a game where EVERYONE will have their weapons sliced. there's NOTHING special about it. it doesn't reflect the illegal nature of these sliced items.
it's just LAME!

Yeah!
Feedback? Suggestions? Comments? Bah!
Weshouldn't have any say in the path our chosen profession takes. We should just sit back and take what the devs give us and like it! If it's broken, too bad!

The problem is none of the things you stated. The problem IS, however, that with loot drops we will now be at the mercy of unscrupulous loot campers.

Oh, also... (regardless of the difficulty of dungeons in which the loot drops will happen) a much more starwarsy idea would be to gain the slicing components via, say... keeping a few of the components from the illegal weapon modification equipment crates you transport in Smuggling missions...
(Seriously, loot drops=ok for fantasy MMORPGs, but it should be Star Wars here...)

BRILLIANT idea. VERY smuggler-like. I really don't like depending all on loot drops. Crafting tools is fine. 100% loot drop dependancy doesn't sound like much fun.
I re-subscribed last night after a year absence. I neglected to check the Smuggler forums, I didn't think they'd force Smugglers to farm loot for slicing. Just... wow... talk about non-Star Wars, non-fun, and non-sensical. Camping monsters for components to illegally modify weapons? What?
I should've checked the forums before I re-subscribed. As it stands, I'm one month and done again. This is ridiculous. I rolled a Smuggler to roleplay being a Smuggler, not another loot wh0re.
