i just thought of a cool idea related to smuggling. i'm sure someone posted something like this in this thread somewhere and i just missed it. but anyway here it is:
what if players could take loans from Jabba. and then have to pay them back by a certain time. and if they didn't then they would be put onto terminals, for either smugglers or bounty hunters (or both)to go after them! bounty hunters would be the obvious choice to go after someone who hasn't paid up, but i think smugglers should have the oppurtunity to work as mercenaries for jabba as well because they have as much, if not more, interest in keeping his empire of crime alive and well.
the loans wouldn't be too much maybe 50k max. the players name does not leave the terminal until they've paid it back. so they'll constantly have someone after them until they do so. so it wont be like 'oh i died once, no big deal cause i still have the 50k from jabba'.
i think it would add a nice element of underworld dealings to the game.

did any else notice there was a news post on swg.stratics.com about the smuggler plight and smugglers posts on the forums being deleted with a few links to relevant threads on friday?

smuggling missions and materials for rebel and imperial smugglers should or could include weapons or medicines instead of spices. The reward or 'skim' to the smuggler could then be enhanced weapon or medical components (to be traded/sold to weaponsmiths, CMs, etc), or could be rare loot (not uber) weapons or armor peices. the GCW needs gun runners too... not just drug pushers.
i.e. an imperial smuggler mission could involve delivering a crate of weapon stocks to an imperial camp in rebel-controlled territory. The smuggler could 'enhance profits' by skimming or splitting that crate and not delivering the full amount, and of course accept the risk of visibility.
This would mean contraband is not limited to spice or sliced items, but could include imperial gear when in rebel territory, or rebel gear when in imperial territory.

Any one want to place bets on how long it will take to get our Revamp? Better yet how long it will take for SOE to finish the "Combat Upgrade"?
Guess I will just have to play with the new loot and pray for a revamp.

A long time. How is that for a guess. I am just about to start playing this game, and I was all excited to be a smuggler. Smuggling is the back bone of the Star Wars Galaxies. Not the Jedi. Not the GCW. Think about it SOE .. every outer rim and core world planet .. every different culture is built on smuggling. All throughout the moveis, books, comic books. Smuggling. There wouldn't even be bounty hunters, arguably the coolest profession there is,without smuggling. This needs to be addressed. It's the second most important screw up after the lame music score. Fix the music, fix smuggling. Please.

I got 2 11% slices on armor yesterday. I never got slices that low when I was just 2 boxes up Slicer. What a crock of terds.
If anything should be fixed, it's the SLICING skill. What is the point of being a MASTER smuggler if a person with Slicing 3 can slice better than I can???????

When the rewamp do?
and smuggler will be able to slice Space component? like the reverse ingeneering?
And Master Smuggler will have the certification for YT-1300?
i'm rebel colonel and master smuggler and i must do the choice between X-wing and Yt-1300...
why Firespray is for all faction and not the YT-1300...
at the begining devs sayd : they'll are 3 YT-1300 for all faction... why this change?
I'll like to have answerd, it is the better way to have? or i should mail ?

I agree I think the YT-1300 should be a master ship for all, or atleast rebel and priveteers
ether that OR, have it that once you gain a cert for a ship, you keep it, nomater if you drop the tree or not, mastery gives you all then certs for that tree, but if you drop and go to master another faction, why can't you still pilot the other ships?,
Hutts pilot X-Wings, but my priveteer can't?,
ok not yet but when she masters priveteer i want o keep my YT-1300, and learn the X-Wing too.

Way off topic here... I assume you're looking for the smuggler forum (i.e. Pilot) not the Smuggler Forum. That being said, by this logic, Privateers should get most is not all certifications which would never be accepted. Just because a ship is available to the general public, does not mean that Imps and Rebs should get it. Keep doing crap like that and you make yet another useless profession.
