Unfortunately its not all that dated. It is short for Nippon or Niponnesewhich means Japan or Japanesse (not sure in what language) and is still a prevelant racial slur in unenlightened circles of knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, morons. I hate racism in ALL forms. No one should be hated because of their race...its the content of their character that make them A-holes, not where they are from.

Oh, and to the above... A "n i p" can be used as a racial term for someone from Japan. Although it's mildly dated (considering WW2 ended a short while ago).

Nippon is one way of saying "Japan" in Japanese, although the most frequently used is "Nihon"
There are several different types of clients. The other day I ran into someone in the 'paranoid' category. This person was incredibly concerned that I would take their pistol and not give it back. The usual questions were in there. "Can you slice? How much?" etc. However after every question the person followed with things like"I better get my weapon back. If you steal it I'll report you>" kind of things. I though "Huh. Must be a nice pistol." I trade with the person and receive the pistol. Iget a tell5 second after the trade asking for it back. I finished it quickly enough and completed the transaction laughing to myself. Holding a krayt FWG5 pistol in my hand I don't think the person should betoo concerned with me stealing their DL44.
I too have had the 'Fence' title up and been asked for Fencing training. I've also had people think it literally meant I was a Fence, as in picket or chain-link.

LOL. Would have been hilarious if he refused to pay you and then accused you of stealing ![]()
Or, if you had a TEF and got killed while slicing, and he accused you of running off with his gun ![]()
Even funnier is when a customer of mine ran up to me screaming to slice his weapon, apparently noticing my slicer title. I askedwhat the hurry was, and he yelled that he was a rebel, in bestine, being chased by several imp players. If he wanted to win, apparently he needed his carbine sliced and some pixie to fight back. I was in the middle of hurridly slicing his carbine (he offered me three times my usual price, how could I refuse?) and was just about to hand it back when suddenly several troopers accompanied by three fellow imperial players (I'm an imp myself, but I'm not against dealing with rebs) appeared and proceeded to hand him his ass on a tarnished bronze platter. After was deathblowed, with me just watching speechlessly, the players and troopers went back to their regular lives. I shrugged my shoulders and went back to making spice.
About an hour later, the same player sent me a tell asking if all was clear. I gave him the proverbial thumbs up and returned his weapon and several nuetron pixies, free of charge. I just felt too sorry for him being the unfortunate rebel in such an imperial town . . .
