A for slice
B for spice
I like the idea of having a chance to select the type of slice. Should still be random, but at least we should be able to make an effort to create a specific slice (dunno, like 70%) It would add some use to the flow analyzer.
If despite this vote (*grin*) B wins, it should at least only affect the minimum (and thus the avg) value of the slice. That way obvious liars will be caught, but we could still try our luck with crappy material and hope for the best.

A!
If we get experimenting for slicing OR spices, I really hope there will be a lot of goodies in the Underworld tree since I won't be making spice or slicing anything. I refuse to burn out on my profession the way so many artisan classes have done.
The only way I would be happy about slice tools experimentation is if we remove the whole disposable tools. I mean, if I tinker with something in my garage, I don't need to replace my tools after every thing I do. If I had 1 clamp that I could re-use (not indefinately, let it decay like a weapon) and 1 laser knife tool (decay as well), and 1 upgrade kit, then i could live with experimentation. And we should control the AUKs/WUKs too.
So I say NO to experimenting.

I vote for B..............in regards to this question, but I believe we need to look at experimenting on spices. Because since the chef revamp, sales are down. I believe we should be able to experiment on spices, to either effect length of bonus or decrease amount of downer. Just my 2 credits.

It seems to me people are choosing B because the want their godslices on every weapon. Come on! we need balance! we cant have our cake and eat it too. Even if youre hell of fat. You can have the cake, but no eating. Things cant be easy! B especially would kill the non master smugglers. Some of you people are asking for almost guarenteed 35% slices. no no no, it just wont work.

Put me down for B option also.
Having the ability to get good slices on the items that you want would also fix the matter of pricing. People want the good slice better be prepared to pay accordingly for the time and effort that we put into our craft.
It seems to me that we are the only profession that doesn't actually get paid properly for our services. Depending on the weapon or the armor our work increases the value of the item considerably and people think that we are nuts if we ask an appropriate fee. Now there's a problem.
If they don't want to pay for quality then you don't get quality. I also agree that spices should also vary with ingredient quality and experimenting.
