Thread: Heh, how much Dev time do you think we will get now?

guys you're focusing on the bad here. "jedi starfighters", who cares? there is not a sizeable percentage of the population that enjoys space after master anyways. jtl is a $30 insta-travel ticket, nothing more. how about looking at this from the perspective of new things to do? something else to have fun with. yes we deserve info on our revamp, but are you going to let your cyncism over that area affect the other areas of play as well? as I said earlier, the dev team that made this and the dev team that is doing the CU and post-CU revamps are two different teams altogether. their only relation is that they work on the same game
I cant speak for anyone else, but my cynicism is a by-product of crafty misdirection and failed promises by SOE. I'm sorry, I just dont care about Star Fighters, any planet that is not Hoth, and any dangerous section of space that is not Kessel and does not involve me Smuggling. You see, for me, this is "the" area of play, I've been a Master Smuggler for as long as you've been a member (not a stab at your rank); I mastered Fencer and later onPilotto enjoy the "other" aspects of the game; and now, I just want to play a complete Smuggler class, that's it.
I do understand that there are two different teams working on the CURB and the Expansion, I can dig this; but the last thing that I want to see/hear is that "We here at SOE are very sorry to inform you that we will need to have a little bit more time tp produce an upgrade that both meets ours and your standards; we will be assigning (geez I dont know) Renegade, our newest whatever, to get to work on this right away. Oh and we will be making a thread so that you can post some of your ideas...we're too lazy to look at the other 5 bazillion post that your community has already produced for us.
Been there, done that; and while I did "not" want to see the words Smuggler and Revamp in the same review as the expansion pack, it's still rather disheartning to know more about the the expansion pack, than I do about the future of Smugglers.
...ok, that's my quarterly rant, im fine now.
Flame me as you see fit, I was merely trying to provoke some insight and a good mood on this boardfrom a look at something new and potentially fun. trust me I am just as unhappy as the rest of you about the state of our prof and the lack of communication, and the fact that we are continually ignored and forgotten. But I recognize that that is not the fault of this particular development or dev team. so why should I be pissed about it, if they would not be assigned to us in the first place?

And how many times do I have to point out that there is absolutely NOTHING based on trackrecord that would indicate THIS time is any different than the others. The total lack of communication ought to be pretty damn indicitive of that. Indeed, there is most definately an abhorant (sp?)lack of communication concerning our prof
Your blind faith is amusing but hardly convincing that anything substantial is really going to come our way. Multiple development teams doesn't mean any of them are going to work on smuggling for us...only that they'll be working on something and past history shows that everything comes before smugglers and they will NEVER be short of 'something' to place before us. Heh, it's not blind faith. but I do hold out hope, it's all we have left. some people on here are using this update from a dev team that would not be assigned to our issue to give out more grief, and I don't think thats a fitting way for us to send any kind of messege. It's like getting pissed at the cable company when CBS cancels a show. You're targeting the wrong dev team, it's a useless fight and a senseless argument. I agree that we have been pushed back countless times, and it is beyond frustrating. But this thing has been in the works since they got jtl off the ground, and people are just now getting pissed about it? it is the work of the "secret team" that JustG referred to a while back. I guess maybe some of you were hoping that was the revamp, I knew it was not, it was obviously a team working on future expansions.

God. I look at that article and I'm just...wow. I can't explain it.
As a long time Smuggler and advocate of this being a more Star Warsy Star Wars game, this expansion pack really just saddens me.
This is not an expansion that expands the game in a positive manner that adds content in areas that need it. This is a flat out marketting expansion that adds nothing to the game but the same crap that has been pushing SWG further and further away from an actual Star Wars feel just to appease the Episode 3 viewers. This pack was made so that maybe 50,000 (tops) people would buy SWG with the expansion pack, play for 2 months and quit...all the while, you're long standing veteran gamers who have been waiting for content have more stuff put on their plate.
People complain about SWG not feeling like Star Wars. You know why? Jedi breeding on servers like rabbits, Jedi Starfighters, and crap from the prequal trilogy piling up everywhere. And most of all, a criminal element. The Devs are too blind to realize just how much of a factor the criminal underworld played in the GCW. What would the Rebellion be withou Han Solo or Dash Rendar. How expansive was Black Sun and the Hutt syndicates? These organizations and people strait out of the underworld molded the Galactic Civil War and advanced every single movie.
Get the frackin' game working. Get the professions working. Get the Galactic Civil War and Criminal Underworld going. Those are the power plants of Star Wars and Star Wars Galaxy. Dumping this expansion into the mix is doing nothing but piling more broken stuff into a stack of already broken items. All of which need to be fixed.
This would be funny if it wasn't so enraging.
But May.. hmm. I know I should be mad about how they've chosen to appropriate their resources--and I am, a little--but on the other hand, I expected them to have zero work done on our expansion and not have the CURB out for another 2-6 months after its current release date. So to find out that they may well have zero work done on us but all the other crap that had to come first is going to be out of the way a lot sooner than expected--well, it's almost like a welcome surprise. Along with a modest new expansion! Perhaps it's a product of extremely negative reactions, but I dunno. I'm happy to hear this. It even mellows me out enough to find it funny that their precious announcement doesn't, in fact, have a damn thing to do with smugglers after all.
This will be the last straw, though. If they don't effing launch themselves into the non-combat revamp as soon as these two things are out, they can take their Upgrades and Expansions and cram them. If they can find space up there next to their heads, that is.
THAT smarts. o_<

Ladies and gentlemen of the supposed playerbase, I have one final thing I want you to consider: this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk, but Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now, think about that. That does not make sense!
Why would a Wookiee -- an eight foot tall Wookiee -- want to live on Endor with a bunch of two foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense!
But more importantly, you have to ask yourself: what does that have to do with this game?Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this game! It does not make sense!
Look at me, I'm aDeveloperclaimging to fix a broken game, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca. Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense. None of this makes sense.
