Thread: Smuggler Request to the Devs to clarify the changes on Feign Death. What does it mean to us?

Yep - despite Tigg's message in the Test Centre forum generated PAGES of messages begging for clarification - she's come back with that one liner.

Personally - I find it a little condescending, a little insulting, and shows the regards Smugglers are held in.

And this coming from *me* a self described "moderate, non confrontation" forum poster.

Granted, I've come to the conclusion that FD doesn't have a place in FD (sorry Yimaz) but the lack of information surrounding the mechanics of this change is what's driving me nutty.

And with a smiley like "All better!"

Yeah - that's the part that really set me off. I mean, Like I said, I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing but for the love of <insert your own god here> give us some details. I mean, we're going to get a good idea over the next day from testers - but why subject the community to this stress of uncertainty?? It's not called for at all.

Smuggler peoples,

This was a fix for bug that was/is happening. My apologies for the one-liner but it is a bit busy around here and I was trying to get you the information and juggle other things at the same time. At any rate, right now (on live) you can not be incapacitated while feigning. This is not as designed. We fixed this so that a person can be incapacitated while feigning.

Basically now, you have to wait on the incapp timer to get back up. It used to be next hit you'd Feigh but be able to get right back up even though the damage went past your HAM. Now, you'll be incapped if the damage is more than the HAM, but your opponent(s) will NOT be able to deathblow you. With the recenct incap changes (making the wait time smaller) this really doesn't make a difference.

Well so long as the three-incap rule doesn't apply, then I'll give this a thumbs up. What if you incap three times while in fd and incap outside of it, will you die?

Message Edited by Smuggler_Caylin on 02-18-2005 02:18 PM

That I can't verify. I can tell you that if youincap while Feighing, then a DOT makes you incap again, and again, and again, you WON'T perma. You can incap multiple times while Feighing but never die.

This might actualy be a blessing in discuise as a nerf.

In PvE combat when you FD the MOB stays Argoed to you.

However with this new change making it so that you can be incaped but not DBed the MOB will un argo you. Basicaly a more convencing FD.

...... This will mess up my Axkva Min hunting technique a bit...... grrrr.... However will keep me from dieing in the stron hold so much

This makes no sense. If you are feigning, you are supposed to appear dead. Why would you get incap'd if you are dead? Not working as intended makes no sense. Maybe not being used as intended so the Smugglers will have to eat crap with one of their skills is more like it.

Regardless, thanks for trying to clear this up a little more. I know you're just the messenger, and I hope everyone else realises this as well.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Tiggs, sorry, but this is still not helpful. The main question is: once incapped while FD, can we be deathlowed?

But can they be DB'd while FD?

Mturnage, have you tested today? If not these results are meaningless as the patch went in today for the FD "change".

OK, I give up.

I'm just going to walk away and wait for the info to come from testers.

Took you guys THAT long to fix this? Since LAUNCH?

Okay, Tiggs, fine, but can you have some explain to us what the purpose of Feigning Death is? Because Mobs still attack you if you feign death even if they are 2km away or more. So if I still get incapped, and I get incapped three times and die, and the purpose of Feigning Death is to AVOID dying, then what's the poing of feigning death in PvE, which was where Feign Death was SUPPOSED to be used to begin with?

So, instead of actually having a five second chance of turning a one-way battle around, we can instead hit the FD button, and not worry about the valuable time.

What's the point of feign death, if it can't feign death?
