Smuggler could use some improvements, but I do not think it was "done wrong". I disagree with this petition.

How could you not think the class is wrong? They dont even smuggle. I thought smuggling was the main point to being a smuggler?

I personally believe Smugglers were rushed out the door because:

1) It is one of the mostprominent professions of the Star Wars Mythos. Ask the average Joe to name a profession in Star Wars, and they will either say Jedi (Luke, Vader, etc.), Bounty Hunter (Boba Fett), or Smuggler (Han Solo, Lando). A Star Wars game without a Smuggler profession is like a football game without a quarterback or running back.

2) When SOE/ Verant were designing their professions, they quickly filledneeded roles such as Item Makers, Entertainers, Fighters both Ranged and Melee, Healers, and then came to the conclusion they needed a Rogue-type profession. I'm almost certain that they threw around ideas for a Spy class as the Rogue class (after all, Bothans are a playable species), and maybe even a Crimina/ Scoundrel profession considering Jabba faction was once considered. When the deadline started creeping up on them, they killed two birds with one stone and just made Smugglers the defacto Rogue profession.

So, in my opinion, Smugglers are not real smugglers due to circumstance. I would love for a dev to answer our questions as to whether the current Smuggler profession is how they envision Smugglers to be, or whether the current Smuggler profession is the result of compromises. If it's the latter, I tell the devs not to worry because come hell or high water, I will stick with my Smuggler. I just want to know if anything will be changed down the road to make us more Smugglerish or if I'll just have to accept the fact that I am SWG's Rogue class.

I agree with the original poster in that there should be smuggler missions and maybe tweaking some of the smuggler skills. But to say the smuggler skills are worthless is silly, because I love the faction discount, the spices, slicing weapons and dirty fighting. Maybe add something here and there to polish the tree up, but that's about it. As for artisan being a pre-req, that's horrible and you need to choose another profession if you do not like the unarmed pre-req.

Here's my 2 cents. Until the Smuggler can do some real smuggling or Missions, I say the Spice making should stay. Axe the Unarmed Combat reqs and add Artisan.

That'll do thanks!

When I saw smuggler as a profession, I thought, "hey, that is what I want". I mean, to be a Han Solo type character? Too freaking cool. So, I bust my butt working on pistol and unarmed. Hardcore bust my butt and manage to keep my day job. (BTW, I think the unarmed is great. Very nice touch on the RolePlay there). But when I finally got my Novice Smuggler training, I found out that smugglers DID NOT EXIST!!!

Instead, I now have a drug manufacturing and distributing profession. When I saw the charts I thought, wrongly, very wrongly, that the spices are what I would be smuggling on MISSION. There ARE NO SMUGGLING MISSIONS!!! I make and sell DRUGS! **edit**? We can't even have booze in the cantinas, but we have a whole profession whos goal it is to get folks hooked on drugs? OMFG! And I thought that smuggling "controlled substances" was limiting on the type of smuggling missions that could have been available.

Smugglers were done WRONG and the lack of CONTENT is simply amazing. I have no incentive to strive. I am close to having no incentive to PLAY. SWG has the most amazing chrome polish I have ever seen, however, how can Sony expect to keep a player base when there is no content? I am so amazed at this turn of events, I don't even care to spend another hour finding "locked containers".

I say, we smugglers all rename our drugs to stuff like, "pot", "dime bag", "Mary Jane", "Dope", or whatever drugs are called. /sheesh

I completely disagree...I'm only interested in smuggler for the spice line.

The spice must flow...
