Thread: Sorosuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000 vs. YT-1300

my biggest fear is that the ship will be single person only. Devs never said otherwise, and once mentioned that YT1300 will be one of its kind.
They did say it was a multi-person ship.
"These players will receive the deed for the multi-passenger ship model SoroSuub Personal Luxury Yacht 3000 the day Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed launches."
Anyway, I don't believe the ships themselves will be where the Shipwrights get their income. The ships cannot be destroyed, so once a player buys or is given one, that's it. The money is going to come from the parts that go into the ship. These can be damaged and will be the regular income. That's why I don't think the ships themselves will matter so much as the parts put in them. I believe the ships will mostly be "skins" with limited effect on the abilities, and the parts added will be the big factor. Ths "stock" ships will probably come with "stock" parts when they're built, which will give them their "stock" attributes and upgrades will make them better, but the "skin" is for looks and maybe determines what can be put in them.
What struck me as interesting was the multi-passanger capability. In fact, this concept itself strikes me as interesting. Since everyone who buys JtL is getting a free ship, regardless of quality, everyone will be able to get into space as soon as JtL is installed(as is intended). Why, then, would you need multi-passanger capability? More importantly, why are the Devs giving out a ship with multi-passanger capability right from the start? Ignoring the fact that it's friggin cool, I can only think of two reasons: to transport people who don't have a ship of their own, or to transport people to zones only certain professions(like Smuggler) can access. For example, blockaded worlds, or the deep space zone.

It's a much better reward than I expected (although I would have rather seen a YT-2000 or even the 2400). That being said, I have two main concerns.
One is that it will be relatively lame in comparison to other ships.I would assume it will be certed at novice pilot, otherwise there's not much point it getting one when JTL launches. So, I'm afraid it's going to be the CDEF of ships.
The second worry is that they're going to do something stupid and limit the number of ships we can hold in our datapad. I don't want to have to surrender the ability to fly one of the ships I'd earn in my pilot profession just to use this reward.
Also, note how they say "multi-passenger". That doesn't mean the passengers can crew it like the YT-1300... they might just be along for the ride.
/hopes and prays passengers can crew it (JK2).
/throws in a prayer for it being upgradeable.
/crossesfingers.

Another thought I had.....Maybe ships can hold items? Basically increase you're
inventory like droids? That would be friggin sweet, amybe a pain to get things out
of it, but it's still extra inven.
It's been confirmed that you canplace stuff inthe interior of theYT-1300. So it can hold items, but how many isn't known. I'm guessing it will be 75, like that one Naboo house that only takes 1 lot. Maybe less.
I'm also guessing that any ship with an interior people can mill around in would be the same. So this one will probably have storage too.
