Thread: I don't think we should settle.

So far, I'm only reading about it - I'm not going to level up a master smuggler the old fashioned way - I simply don't have the time (FROGS PLEASE!!!).... But from what you've all posted I'm seiously underwhelmed.

What happened to the interactivity? What happened to having a mini-game involved? What happened to slices that were worth something? (a 10% speed slice is the BEST there is???)

Yeah... I'm dissappointed.

What choice do we have? We can stop saying, " well, it sucks, but at least it works..." and organize, unify our voice, get Wes to go to the Corr Forums, and say, loud and clear, that we're not accepting this.

Too bad it won't happen, everybody's spirit is broken.

I'm always up for a fight, I think you all know that, but herein lies my dillema.

I cannot for the life of me understand how what has just been sent to testing is going to be changed. Spirit broken? Maybe. Not satisfied? Definately, but I'm not going to turn away a scrap when starving.

I usually don't make these types of posts Saarek, but....

I agree with you 100%.

Heh, well, maybe I'm out of place, but I do believe that scrap you're eating is the Sterno from under the chafing dish.

LOL and QFE.

Welcome to the Dark Side Saarek, but you'll have to give up the need for hugs.

I usually do 100% stand behind the voice of the community, however I think that what you ask for is way too much.

I'm not looking at it from a stance of "do we deserve it" or "they owe us because.." but rather a logistical standpoint.

SWG is a dying game. With newer, and more updated games on the market, SWG is considerably sub-par - and if I was SOE, I'd probably be putting my credits down on a new horse - not trying to revive an old one.

Although I would LOVE to see those changes, it would be so damn cool, maybe I have become so much of a cynic that I just do not expect anything close to what we are looking for.

I think that slicing can stay the way it is - of course fixing that crap what dont work - maybe making the % increases a bit higher (like 2-3 times) - but all in all - before this game dies, I wanna see some smuggler content.

Ok. Flame away.

Have you played the newer MMOs? Or are you just saying that for debates sake? SWG is unique, there are no other MMOs that offer what it does, and aside from EQ2, nothing compares in visual quality, epicness, and socio-economic depth. SWG is it for what we want in MMOs, fight to make it better, or 'SETTLE" for lesser, shallower, prettier games if you can find them.

Ya, I've played my share. If you think SWG has a higher visual quality than games like Guild Wars or WoW, then you need to turn the vis settings up.

Those two alone have a much more immersive environment than SWG, and they are not shallower, but definately prettier.

SWG is way more visually pleasing than GW, GW is just an over the shoulder low poly engine, and a completly diff type of game, people who get what they get from SWG, will not get that from GW.

Choose:

Random slices or Select-o-Slice where damage and speed can both be enhanced.

Does it really need a pretty interface? Personally, I don't care. After slicing 8 Krayt DE-10's for less than 20% speed Pre-CU, I'll take Select-o-Slice FTW.

Most people were against the CURB but they went ahead and implemented it anyway, and lost a lot of veteran players. Now they short us on slicing because they rush it out to us, and they'll lose more veteran players. Jedi are whining because they are being taken down a peg, that will cost them players that earned or bought their Jedi. For the diehards, we're stuck with Galaxies, or we quit. For the noobs, who aren't used to the disappointment, they'll stay for awhile then quit. Right now, Galaxies is like a Greek tragedy. We can see all it's faults, but the devs are oblivious to them apparently (or their managers, perhaps). The only question is if we all hang around to see where it goes. The greatest Star Wars Saga... (mine) is disappointed.

I'd love to try and implement change, but I'm afraid it will be a wasted effort. I wasn't for or against the CURB, I wanted to give it some time, and frankly I like it. I was referring to the at least 100 players on our server that quit as a direct result, some of them quit because their voices weren't being heard.

And I apologize for the negative attitude in my post, have the flu and still going to work, and having a bad week. I pass by the buildings where the servers are every day to and from work, and sometimes I get upset at the false and shallow promises that we get from the people in those buildings sometimes.

For real? Could you go in and trash the Starsider servers? I'd really like another round of Double XP

I see the buildings they are in, might need some help getting to the actual servers... Maybe I could bribe the guards with Beer and Pie. I hope they are easy like the GCW crackdown troops...

This is great to say and all, but how are we settling or not settling? I fully agree. The new slicing system is ass, and essentially permanent, since the Dev Calendar is so crammed. But we didn't have any input in it before, and they're sure not going to listen to us in the future. So aside from cancelling, there isn't a whole lot we can do, is there?

We can protest, rant and rave, wave our fists, hijack chat sessions and dev threads, and .. oh wait. We've already done that. And before, we did the reasonable-discussion thing. Endlessly. We've had 3 of the best Corrs in the history of SWG. Hell, we had a dev in here ON HIS OFF HOURS chatting with us about how to make things better.

And did any of that make the slightest bit of difference? Look at the new slicing system. Do you really think so?
