As far as I know, the origin of the Yello Ribbon was a song about a man getting out of jail, and his lover/family was supposed to tie a yellow ribbon "'round the old oak tree" if she/they wanted him home. If he saw no ribbon, he would keep on going and move on with his life.
When Desert Shield / Desert Storm went down, it was converted to our way of telling our troops that we supported them and that they would recieve a welcome return, unlike the troops of our last large conflict, those from Vietnam.

2. Seems like our whole skill set boils down to 4 specials at master. Of them only concussion shot seems to do anything tangible and all it does it root things. A 5? I think not. With the commando aoe weapons you can root multiples but that certainly doesn't make smuggler a 5. Also the root is only useful against melee mobs/pc's. Anything that can attack with a longer range than the renegade pistol still kills us despite our "5" status. A side note: when we ask if a game system is working as intended, replying with "dunno really what do you think?" is kind of maddening since the entire point of the question was in regards to your intention, not our expectations.
3. No more slicing xp doesn't bother me all that much as a long time master and unbeliever in all things mystical. It does offend me from a simple common sense standpoint. When we saw smuggler as all pistol/combat xp the initial response across the community was "there is no way they could actually intend that, must just be a placeholder or some such". To quote a anonymous sage "not!". Imagine the logic... Computer science college classroom: "excuse me professor can you teach me how to hack an atm to get extra money when i withdrawl?" "of course, here's a revolver, go out front and shoot any rabbits or other small animals you can find, come back after you kill 10,000 and then we'll talk". Reminds me of an old hologrind post where someone rewrote Star Wars in which Luke became a Jedi through the SWG system. He and Obi-Wan met Han at the cantina and before they left for Alderaan Obi gave Luke some hawtpants and told him to dance in the cantina till he came back for him and if he had time to learn to play the slitherhorn.
"1 and 3 smell like revamp. Wish they'd be a LITTLE more specific."
"Soon" is as specific as SOE ever gets. Sometimes that means the kind of soon we would prefer, other times it means never.

I'm also sad to see slicing and spice xp go. I really hope 1-2 of our lines end up using some sort of smuggling experience, as this whole pistol xp for everything deal is rather bland.
Not only that, but it makes keeping unarmed as a pre-requisite for smuggler even more questionable. I hated grinding pistol to get my MS badge. I can't imagine having to grind it for four trees. *ewwwwww*
Well imho we are designed as mezzers so concussion shot is one of if not the profession defining ability of our class. However as it is designed it is meant to be a mez or a daze effect stopping both the movement of the enemy and its ability to attack at all....this would work against both melee and ranged attackers. As long as no one attacks the target or as long as the timer is in effect the target would remain mezzed or dazed. Currently its working as a root....a very effective root but a root none the less.
Panic shot would work better if it reduced a percentage of the target's attack speed. This way we might actually see a noticeable effect on players, npcs, and creatures. Low blow should also work similarly...it should have a high kd chance percentage and reduce the targets attack speed by a percentage as well. In order for it to be actually noticeable I think regular panic should be 20% attack speed reduction, improved panic 25% attack speed reduction, and low blow with a 50% attack speed reduction along with a high chance of KD.
Restraining shot and other snares should in turn also use a percentage reduction in speed of targets in order to make them truly effective.
The improved and advanced versions of reckless shot should increase damage done by the special and reduce defensive penalties more.
Last Ditch for me at least has a high chance of missing and often incaps you immediately upon use even if no one attacks you after you use it.
Also an area effect version of concussion shot would be nice as well.
If this was done then I'd say we would be a 5 in crowd control.
#1 and #3 make it sound like the revamp is near and they don't want to bother fixing it since its changing.
i been happy with the slicing system as of late. Nice and consistent.
I don't mind that we're single-target CCers. I find that with a good Renegade and the speed mods we get(thanks, Devs!), I don't have too much trouble bouncing between targets firing stuff off as needed. And it keeps me on my toes. The big problem I have with AOE is CONTROL. Cones and Splash areas are not precise. Who knows what extra stuff you might aggro. CC is designed to reduce chaos, not add to it. I want to root the krayt. Not the half-dozen razorbacks milling around it's legs(not a serious example). This is why I almost never use Fanshot. I don't know exactly how wide the cone is, I may not see something that's inside the cone that I don't want to fight... In battle, i don't have time to mull over whether I'm in a good position to use Concussion Shot or whatever. I need it now, my companions are counting on me to hit the whatever-it-is in a timely manner. i don't have the luxury of making sure a cone is clear of ancillary targets.

Then I am curious how are we supposed to get sense XP for those of us trying to finish out the luck tree.
buy FP, exchange for XP, exchange for FS XP...in SWG, you CAN buy your luck!
Can you still exchange FP for XP?

Slicing XP has been permanently removed.
And when i slice a weapon it says "You have received 250 points of Slicing Experience" in the middle of my screen...
