And when i slice a weapon it says "You have received 250 points of Slicing Experience" in the middle of my screen...
You beat me to it. LOL.

And it seems FS people would have to pick up Scout or Artisan to get replacement skills needed to convert Heightened Senses experience.
Not that I care to participate in that insane grind anyway, but it's one heck of a commitment to drop Smuggler for Dancer so you can get your Persuasion or Luck lines...
I guess they mean the requirement for slicing experience in the Smuggler line was removed (bah!) but that that form of experience still exists in the game, but it's only useful for conversion to HS experience?

Here are some answers to questions asked that I've been allowed, indeed encouraged, to share with you all, (text in red courtesy of the Dev team).
- Slices are borked: Some slices are giving either 0% or negative results (i.e. -4%); Is anything planned to address this in a hotfix, or is it going to have to wait until the In Concept Smuggler changes go into effect? Furthermore, is this intended (i.e. as slicing is supposed to be able to "top up" an item to its maximum potential); is the problem that weapons/armour are being crafted out of balance/above the max potential, or is it that the max potential needs tweaking for weapons?
Significant changes and adjustments to the slicing system are coming soon. These issues should disappear at that time.
- In the CU design documents, Smuggler was billed as Offense: Moderate (3), Defense: Minimal (1), Crowd Control: Very Strong (5). Does this design premis still hold true (if not, what is Smuggler supposed to be?) and does the team feel that (once the specials are fixed) the profession will live up to this (or whatever the alternative is)?
Those were the guidelines we used when creating and balancing smuggler abilities. Hopefully we hit the mark. What are your impressions?

Slicing XP has been permanently removed.
As far as the problems with Slicing, hope its sooner then later.
Regarding CC, currently I would rateus as a 3-4.
Concussion shot should work better, I still have somethings that are able to close on me even when rooted. Whether that's a bug or not I don't know. Also, allow for concussion to be reapplied to the creature without the previous having to disappear, like only in the last 5 seconds or so.
Lowbow need a KD.
An area effect snare/root of somekindwould put us at 5.
If we are suppose to be the ultimate CC'ers, then when we say stay. The creature/mob/npc/pc shouldn't move, period. Anything less is not a 5 in my book.
As for the Slicing XP...WHAT? WHY? You don't learn to slice by shooting a gun and killing things. To me this is just backwards of what the smuggler community has been asking for. We want more things to slice. If the SW universe is what we're based on then I should be able to slice, hotwire, tweak, stress, overpower ever piece of gear there is, especially including ship components. Han said it in SW.. "I've made some special modification myself..."

that would be nice and probly not that hard to impliment:
just take a relativly small pistol cone (Fan shot) rename it to "Idea for a name here" and give it the 1 or 2 second root so they have to reclick the mouse or arrow keyandthere isa visual stop, with a medium lasting snare. Since this would devistate melle groups in pvp the shot would also have the last ditch cost that sucks all your HAM away.

For PVP, since we have the recovery skills just add one that's a recover from root or snare to balance things out for the melee guys.

That certainly sounds like a bug (either in the rooting itself ,or in the graphics part displaying that something's rooted when the rooting failed). You also have to bare in mind that Snares are supposed to break when the target is damaged again, so unlessConcussionshotis unique in this respect, its effectiveness will drop considerabley once roots and snares are fixed.

I whole heartedly agree, but it seems, for now at least, they don't want this to be

I would certainly like to see this within one of our abilities, it would perhaps allow more diversity in our other specials' functionality if we had a special that did soley this.

I think (ok, I'm making assumptions based off the messed up logical reasoning within what passes for my head
) that this is due to the tree having combat related abilities within it and the fact that it needs a form of combat XP in order to attain those abilities. That being the case I would also assume that using two types of XP (in this case pistol and slicing) is sloppy at best. Who knows, we may see something new come the slicing changes, although I've seen as much as you in regard to those, so that's just wild speculation.

Ok this maybe be a graphics bug but I'll have to test more. Normally, Concussion is my first shot, most of the time it takes and holds, including while I'm still shooting the MOB. I get the +rooted+ after my first shot, and occasionaly I'll see a resisted. But for what I'm refering to its usually with a very quick mob it seems they are able to still move somewhat.

Well, we'll have to wait and see I guess what happens with the revamp, cuause for me we shouldn't have combat abilities in the slicing tree, just me though. So until someone says here are the docs on the revamp, guess we'll just have to wait. Hopefully not another 2 years.

Well... I am expierencing some kind of glitch using concussion shot or stopping shot.
If the target already moves and I root it it still can hit me. The critter is 20 something meters away and chews on my legs... ![]()
When I knock it down or kill it it slides right to my feet. Looks like some sort of combat lag to me.

this is a known issue with all roots. I usually run about 40 m from where I see the mob and once I get out of range of it's real position it will slide from where I see it to it's real position.

1 and 3 smell like revamp. Wish they'd be a LITTLE more specific.
My impression with #2 is: I'd be content with smuggler abilities if Low Blow did a KD. Then we'd be a 5. I'm sure others have their opinions -- that's just mine.
I completely agree with this statement...for all the changes (that have nothing to do with spice or slicing) I am totally at ease with them EXCEPT the fact that Low Blow no longer knocks down. Make it KD again and my [combat] life will be complete. On the other stuff Wes mentioned, that's a different animal altogether (slicing and spices). I am getting slicing xp every slice btw, so I'm behind in posting here because it seems that XP has been reinstated (I'm positive of this, because I'm still going to the Village and converting newly earned Slice XP for FS points). I want that new slicing model In Concept! Sweet.
