It was really a personal thing for me. Sometimes people really don't realise the history of something before they go plastering it everywhere.

Coming from a person having a Major as a grandfather, a brother and brother-in-law as a pilot in the army, another brother-in-law in the army, a sister in the National Guard, a stepfather retired from the army, and a father who was in training to pilot in the Vietnam war but was never shipped because the war ended, I think I can say that I wishfora ribbon to support politicians and business leaders who put in their fair share of trying to nuture peace as well.

I believe that 90% of the problems that occur in the world are done so through the mechanisms existing in the political and economic world. I'm not saying that politicians and corporations suck. I am sure they are doing everything they can to make sure the world moves smoothly.

Not to go off topic again, but that's why it's personal to me. Yellow ribbons, like many other things meant to honor the sacrifice of members of the military, have been bastardised into support for everything on the face of the planet.

With the background you lay out there, you know the sacrifice that is made. You also know the level of control over what service members have over their lives and what they do, that's why it's personal to me.

It seems like more and more symbols, holidays, and honors for these sacrifices get more and more commercialised, bastardised, and exploited. It happens with a lot of aspects of society, but this is one that I happen to take personally.

I guess I just wish people would take the time to learn about the meaning of the thing they are contorting and exploiting to serve their own purpose. That's why I added that to my sig.

With that said, I don't really feel like a 5 in crowd control. Improved stopping shot it seems is the greatest crowd control tool in the box. Of the specials I've tested, rooting does a heck of a lot more than snaring. (At this point I can't remember which specials belong to which profession, just noting some observations). I'm also having a hard time seeing how specials are actually effecting high level creatures. For instance, fighting level 80 pikets, it seems that our "control" specials don't do much to control the target.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

Yeah, is there any way we can get a better answer on the slicing question?? Significant changes? Soon? this could be weeks.. month or 2, in the meantime what are we supossed to do? I would like to be able to slice stuff but am too afraid of a 0 or negative slice that will not be fixed later? If this is not working as intended, then we need more of a definate answer on when it will be fixed as it is REALLY screwed up as it is right now.

As far as I am aware the smuggler revamp is slated for immediately after the ROTW expansion.

Here are some answers to questions asked that I've been allowed, indeed encouraged, to share with you all , (text in red courtesy of the Dev team).

  • Slices are borked: Some slices are giving either 0% or negative results (i.e. -4%); Is anything planned to address this in a hotfix, or is it going to have to wait until the In Concept Smuggler changes go into effect? Furthermore, is this intended (i.e. as slicing is supposed to be able to "top up" an item to its maximum potential); is the problem that weapons/armour are being crafted out of balance/above the max potential, or is it that the max potential needs tweaking for weapons?

Significant changes and adjustments to the slicing system are coming soon. These issues should disappear at that time.

I can live with this, not like I slice much anyways, even my own gear is going unsliced atm and was before the CURB. Kinda sucks but I'm having to much fun to care atm

  • In the CU design documents, Smuggler was billed as Offense: Moderate (3), Defense: Minimal (1), Crowd Control: Very Strong (5). Does this design premis still hold true (if not, what is Smuggler supposed to be?) and does the team feel that (once the specials are fixed) the profession will live up to this (or whatever the alternative is)?

Those were the guidelines we used when creating and balancing smuggler abilities. Hopefully we hit the mark. What are your impressions?

Well when they fix the problems with how ours specials such as low blow doesn't KD and roots not stopping actions from taking place and not breaking on damage then yeah, it will be good. As it stands I can live with it as long as they fix us before they nerf us.

  • Slicing XP has been entirely removed from the game. Will we see it return in a hotfix or with the implementation of the new slicing game?

Slicing XP has been permanently removed.

YaY.

Good work Wes, revamp anyone

Then I am curious how are we supposed to get sense XP for those of us trying to finish out the luck tree.

Hey it is easy, it was after CU now it is after ROTW. Nothing difficult. Nothing new.

Everyone assumed that the CU was happening the same time as RotW. Nothing new... it was always sometime after May 5th. I guess some people's glasses are always half empty.

As for slicing exp, I believe what they intended to say was that it isn't a requirement. Right now, I still have slicing exp and I get more every time I slice. It shows up in the combat window with all the other exp and can still be converted to FS. Don't know what it'll be next week, but that's what it is now.

My glass is not half empty, i see it more like not even half filled to begin with. Bit by bit spilled spilled on our table, pants, head and finaly the rest thrown in out face. The drink I ordered was a White Russian, what I got was milk spilled all over me, while my two neighbours at the bar abused my milk in their thumbwrestling (one of the got the Kalua instead of me btw).

Well, now I got a refill (half a glass).Milk. Milk with a special flavor, but still milk. I wan't my White Russian, a double one, with a fancy umbrella.

Will all adversly sliced items be able to be sliced again once this fix is in place?

"Crowd control" to me meant possibly being able to control a "crowd" and not just one player at a time or at short range. what if any of the smugglers specials are cone effects and can we get a better description of what they are suppose to do in game terms rather than vague descriptions? ie if it causes +rooted+ to a player in game then say its a root please a better description for us would enable us to respond better to whether the specials were "working as intended" or not what they are supposed to be

If slicing xps have been permanently removed from the game what about smugglers ability to get luck and persuasion for the village? what will be a conversion for that if any?

I understand where you are coming from, but I think it would do our society more good to fix their attention and awareness on the root of the actual problems of this world, i.e. politics and economics, than the tragedy of people killed in war. It seems like a move that is more healthy in the long run.

The yellow ribbon campaignbegins with good intentionsby its supporters but I think the general direction that it is headed down isn't a good one. In most cases, the remembrance of those passed on or still fighting leads to glorifying war, a sentiment which erases the horrors attached with it, and blind patriotism, which politicians use to garnish MORE support for military useand which isn't always healthy (remember the Germans in WWII?).

I'd rather people put their time into ensuring that yellow ribbon campaigns would never be needed again. I recognize that our troops do need support, but I'd rather see them in the barracks at home than out taking fire in another person's country.

While I'm not thrilled by some of the non-answers...we always say we want *something* that's better then nothing, so I can't really complain.

We'll see what happens after ROTW, as to whether a revamp actually is coming...
