With all the Hate, flame wars, trolls, complaining, accusing and every other negative thing that has been posted just over the BH hunting Jedi you really can not blame them for not wanting to expand it to other players.

Well a lot of the hate is due to the fact Jedi's can lose xp .. Smugglers won't lose anything but time on death. And since in pvp death there is no decay. I doubt the smuggler vs bh will draw as much hate

If anybody thinks that BHs will come after you 1 on 1, then you are deluding yourselves. BHs never hunt alone.

If you think the only way you will get on the boards is if you fail a mission, then you do not grasp the fact that BHs will work to make you fail that mission just so that you will get on the boards. They will make it their mission to find a way to target specific PC characters and get them on the boards just so they can pull a mission.

If you think they will treat you or hunt you any different then they do Jedi you are mistaken.

I highly doubt that. I'm sure there are a few sociopaths in the BHs' ranks, but smugglers aren't resented the way Jedi are.

Besides, smart money's on an opt-in PC bounty system that will require the smugglers to actively choose to take the missions that will open them for PVP. This would leave an entire branch of smuggling entirely safe from any kind of doomsday-prediction griefing.

Keep in mind that the bounty would be a form of punishment for failing, and that, usually, the hunted's frame of mind should be escape. I agree that escape should be the first responce, but should the smuggler be backed into a corner.....

Any ideas on how the debt system could actually be implemented? From what I've seen in the In Concept thread, you never deal in actual credits, but only items like spice, which will have a market value that depends on the server economy, so - in case you decide to keep a spice crate for yourself, there isn't a set amount of credits you'd owe to Jabba, for example.

For my system to work, you'd have to succesfully 'extract' the credits from the Smuggler (just like Greedo tried to do with Han ), since that would give you a succesful mission completion. And in case a fight happens and the Bounty Hunter loses, perhaps he would have to do a certain amount of NPC bounty missions for the crime boss to be able to work for him again, similar to the prestige/deadbeat system for Smugglers?

PC Bounty Hunters hunting us Smugglers sounds just fine to me. It would add a lot more content for one thing, not to mention the Roleplaying angle.

And a lot of us think our skill set should be geared toward being able to escape. Pushed in a corner, when all attempts to escape failled, in a 1 on 1 fight to the death between a Master Smuggler and a Master Bounty Hunter, the MBH should win.

Because of that, to avoid a "automatic loosing" situation, we need some good evasion skills. Then we have a fighting chance (or at least an avoid fighting chance )

But of course any evasion skills have to be ballanced, to avoid another "FD" issue raising it's ugly head.

SOE will probably not choose a system where you are forced to pvp (jedi is another thing that is part of keeping the jedi population low or at least try).

I think that smugglers should choose if they would risk pvp or not. There shoould be some special missions that give you good rewards (in credits and/or items maybe good items that you can steal" from the mission and doinb that would put you on the terminals) but would put you on terminals if you fail (or intentinionally fail the mission by stealing the goods).

I think pvp bounties (but "voluntary") would be good for the game. More for BHs to hunt and some increased risk for smugglers, some may want that some not. For BHs they might need to reconsider their builds since it woul be different than hunting jedis.

Riot,

This is the best idea I've read concerning this issue. Maybe make it so that if you are DB4+ that you can't smuggle for Jabba (or whoever) again until you rasie that faction back up. However, you are still DB4. Maybe make it so that the only way you can erase the DB points would be successful missions.

Same true for BH, just like you said. This would be a way that would curtail exploitation by affecting BOTH Smugglers and BHs.

I'd really like to see this idea expanded a bit

The main problem I see right now is that, in the current In Concept post, even if a Smuggler has deadbeat points, he can still do missions and keep the cargo, even if he doesn't get payments, and can repeat that indefinitely. Isn't this totally wrong? As you've said, if you have 4 deadbeat points with Jabba, wouldn't he be a bit... unwilling to give you hundreds of missions where you keep the cargo? It doesn't make much sense, and it looks like performing successful missions is the only way to lose DB points.

Something would have to be done for this to make sense from a RP perspective and offer incentives to either play it fair with Jabba or cheat him and risk Bounty Hunters, whether PC or NPC. There could be a point where Jabba doesn't want to give you missions to redeem yourself anymore, but demands cold, hard cash. Which could be collected by a BH.

Actually... what if it's done like this:

When you get the fifth DB point, you lose access to Jabba's Palace since he doesn't want to see you anymore, so you can't take any more missions. A BH that has access to the Palace gets a mission to collect the money from you, and gets a portion of it as the bounty reward. On the other hand, if he fails too much missions and loses access, he could pay a Jabba-aligned Smuggler to bribe one of Jabba's NPCs for him to let him into the Palace again. The same goes for Nym's stronghold and all the other Underworld-related locations where those contacts could be. What do you think of something like that?

The In Concept system seems like a fun minigame, but without much depth to it. Should there be are any other professions that could have inherent Underworld-related content except Bounty Hunters and Smugglers? (Entertainers perhaps) They keep adding these little features one by one, and I think many of them should be in some kind of an interaction.

I rather prefer the idea that if a BH catches you for failing a high risk mission you have to make ammends by taking some number of lower level missions with crap rewards to redeem yourself. Make it time consuming enough that there would be no reward in exploiting the system.

Exploits take place when the player effort (time) is small compared to the rewards.
