u havent tried commando have you? i mastered 6 combat professions..that was the saddest experience i had in this game..at least smugs have feign death and can slice..
Oh yeah...because you know we love to be caught up in /tell hell while we're laying flat on our back.
NOT!
This was exactly what I was figuring. It is no coincidence that two smuggler related changes have already come or are just about out the door: beefed up Crackdown and the change in the faction purchasing cap.

Hello,
We did start that work and just to be clear it is work on several of the non-combat professions. The Combat Upgrade is still coming first before we get into implementation however some fixes like the one currently on Test Center will be coming in the interim.
2 Points to make here:

Commando is being addressed in the CURB so it's a moot point. So is the combat portion of Smuggler which is why people aren't talking about it. I won't get into a who needs what discussion here, but a revamp is a sore spot for Smugglers and I would like to prevent outsiders from turning this into a thread that it was not intended to be. (Just for kicks take a look at the In Concept Forum and see how long the Smuggler threads have been there.)
2.
There have been quasi conflicting statements made by SOETyrant. He says Smuggler Revamp (and I do appreciate the mention of us specificly) and also says that an underworld will not be seen anytime soon. Since Smuggling relies on one of two things(but preferable both), an underworld experience in the game or illegal and taxed items in game. Let me further explain my concerns here. No player will ever give up his sliced item to a Smuggler just to travel to another planet. So what exactly are we looking at then?
What I am saying at this point is that do not call this a revamp if it is just another delay until you find a way for us to smuggle. SOETyrant, as the boss, needs to clarify his statements as to what the intent is. I'm not asking for solid stuff. I'm saying that he put something out that does not sit right, and it would be nice to have some clarification. Please do not misconstrue what I have said with this. I am not accusing, and I am not pinninganystatements to anyone, but what has been said does worry me for thefuture ofSmugglers since itwas said asour revamp wasgoing into at least preliminary design.I have faith in the ability to design and implement a meaningful revamp, but anything short of actually smuggling will not be a revamp. Finally I'd like to say that I truly hope that with the revamp you find a way to make a definitive difference between Smugglers and smugglers.
In closing... Nick, this post is not intended to be of the type that you asked us to refrain from. These are some of my biggest concerns at this point since the day I give up Smuggler will be the day I cancel my subscription. This community, this profession, and possibly even this player will not survive another slight by the development team. There are new people involved that weren't in the past, and it is of the utmost importance that they realise how important it is that someone finally gets this right.
I appreciate you coming here Tiggs and filling us in, and I really hope that whoever is doing the designs has taken the time to go back and read the now very long and very old threads regarding revamp ideas that came from players, correspondents, and even some devs.

You see, the rubberbanding we got in this last patch was our revamp. This way, we get to fly past imperial scanning teams 4 or 5 more times, thereby increasing our smuggling skills 500%!

Relax, there's still about 2 hours of January left in the GMT+1 time zone, and I'm sure there's an even bigger chunk of January left in the USA. Plenty of time to come up with a, uhm, detailed design plan...Message Edited by riotcontrol on 01-31-2005 09:40 PM

To which I would reply "Go back and read all the documents that Caylin submitted to you, along with the countless posts in this forum expounding on that very thing. We expect the coding to be done by end of February. For each day you are delinquent, each smuggler gets a free 24 hours of gaming. For each bug after the code hits live, each smuggler gets a 100 dollar bonus check. In the event you get the job done on time and correct, you get to go home and sleep the remaining time until the deadline."
