Thread: Concerns about slicing.
Ok, here's what I want to know. I just turned 6 months with my first account, I've never done either the DWB or the Avatar. I've been on a few Vettes in my day, but never been able to complete it, as most of the trips were post-CU. The friends list for my toons doesn't even scroll anymore. I don't belong to a guild because frankly I don't like all the restrictions my friends get from their guilds (i.e. BHs can't kill that guy or this guy, other stupid things won't get into them here)...
...anyway what I'm asking is will I ever be able to go out with my friends the few of us that there are (group of 5 - 7 most of time) and get this stuff.
I mean I can understand not being able to go and horde up on the slicing components, but I should at least be able to get them to slice my stuff I don't care about everyone else's stuff, let them fend for themselves. Also, I don't really have the bank account to go and buy slicing equptiment, I avgerage about 1 million between my toons at any given time. If this ends up like other rare loot it will go for somewhere in the millions, are we trying to encourage my people to ebay credits.
1 statement for anyone this applies to. Quit being so lazy and wanting everything handed to you on a silver platter. Im tired of all these posts about i want to be uber but it can't be hard. Geez are you the same people who buy a game and slap cheats on right away before playing the game as it was intended? Geez I hate lazy people!! If your lazy you shouldn't be playing a MMORPG.

This is not about wanting everything easy, this is about whether or not slicing will EVEN BE WORTH THE EFFORT. Maybe if you two spent a little time learning about the game instead of AFKing in the akuan caves or camping the DWB, you would realise that weapons have hard-caps on everything now.
Are you going to pay 6 million for a ten feckin percent slice? If you do, then you have to much money. Probably from your AFKing in the akuan caves.
Get this morons: SWG is NOT, repeat NOT owned by you leet powergaming tossers, and a smuggler who doesnt want to spend 24/7 camping some lame bunker should not lose all his business.

one statement for you and anyone else this applies to.
just because someone is against this "Plan B" doesn't mean they're lazy, or that they want everything handed to them on a silver platter.
there are MANY valid reasons why "Plan B" could be a bad idea.
for instance, how will the advantages of uber slicing through loot effect the economies?
it takes away from the value of the crafter, and it also will most likely make uber slicing pretty damn expensive (not that that's a terrible thing mind you).
or how about the fact that "Plan B" shifts the Risk/Reward from an after slicing risk, to a before slicing risk.

Whether you agree with them or not, there is no reason to flame people here.
Agreed. Also, MacGregor, you rock.

Do Weaponsmiths farm Krayts for tissues? No. Players get em and bring em to WS.
Do Armorsmiths farm spawns for drops on good Wooley or looted items for armor? No. Players get em and bring em to AS.
Do Smugglers farm spawns for loot drops to get high end slices? No. Players get em and bring them to Smuggler.
Smugglers don't change their prices for slicing. If a Smuggler has the looted item, great. Make a fortune! If not, they slice to the best of their abilities and thats it.
I don't get why Smugglers should be the only class that is not inter-dependant on other players.
I have to disagree with this statement on multiple terms.
I know alot of armorsmiths who have alts that do hunt and farm resources / drops for their own wares. This in return means more profit for them.
As for your statement about "Smugglers don't change their prices for slicing. " I know for a fact most smiths out there do not charge 5-20k for a krayt enhanced weapon if the tissues are supplied. Most of the time a Krayt, hand made, weapon is a flat 100k with the smiths I use. I also know that when you supply all the components for RIS the smith isn't going to charge you resource cost.
Yes that is true.I was just throwing ideas out. Didn't mean to offend. I just think we should see how it works before screaming bloody murder. I would support any Smuggler loot groups who wish to go out and farm as much loot as we could to support our Smuggling.
I have never sliced for profit, so again, I am biased.
No offense taken but don't try and tell me that I should charge normal price for something in a situation that others charge more
I'm sure as hell going to charge a decent amount for lvl 2-4 slices. lvl 1 will still be relatively low... (10-25k) but each of the lvl's will add up. I'm figuring if supplies are given to me at the slicing, 30-50k a lvl would be reasonable.
You know what if the shoe didnt fit you or the others that did have valid points than dont respond it wasn't intended for you.
And secondly most of the posts about this reason laziness over good input.
So read the entire post before you attack me. If it doesn't address you than don't post about my statement.

Wow... are you guys trying to make Smuggler as bad as you can get it?
Why the hell should we have to get loot items to slice something? We're Smugglers, we should use what we have to make modifications! Let us just build our slicing equipment or something, boost up the resource requirements so each tool takes a lot more resources or something. But make our components loot-drops is just plain stupid.
We need to be able to slice on the fly, and for a decent slice. When we get a customer, we can't tell them "oh, wait... let me go to the DWB and kill a bunch of things and try to loot a component, then I can slice you weapon!" We need to be able to slice a weapon or piece of armor whenever I we need to, no loot components required.
HIghlights are mine because they made my eyes pop open without the need for coffee.
The part about needing to visit the DWB or something else to get the loot needed to slice really struck me as ominous. If this goes in as stated, then Smugglers will be reduced to Slicers and Non-Slicers. Just like there are noted AS, WS, etc. The number of "known" Smugglers that can slice and do the really "good stuff" (Read: Make the big bucks) will dwindle to a few that have access to the high-end loot.
Excellent post Zeon, I certainly agree with all your points.

Or make use of the pointless jawa junk traders thing that only smugglers can do.
YES!!! I like that, they could do some sort of mini quests (like the one you can get from an event coordinator in hotels) where they have us collect different parts of items (loot or crafted stuff) and when we do they trade us the items we need for the higher end slice. Allthough this can take quite some time to collect stuff, at least we don't have to go into high level content zones like the DWB if you want to solo. And on top of that, getting the stuff in the DWB or avatar could also still be an option for non smugglers who want to get the items.
Also... the trade materials the jawas require can be random. There are sooooo many crappy loot items that no one will ever use (decorating maybe) like broken datapads, sandstats and all that stuff. Make the jawa demand random and you dont see people hauling in 100 datapads or something like that and take them to a jawa cause you dont know yet what you're going to need.
