Finally, some constructive posts on the so called "nerf"

Remember fellow agents of the Underworld.

This was a "FIX" not a "CHANGE". We were never supposed to be able to auto-pull.

But, now that they have corrected this mistake. Look at all the GREAT ideas coming from it.

Just proves againhow witty we Smugglers are.

Not sure how you can label it a fix when they came out after and said that it was a mistake that they were not able to come out and they would be fixing it, and then still we get nailed with it.

O.K., first off it sucks we can't Auto Pull from crates anymore and it needs to be fixed. However, I believe I have found the most efficient way to slice under the new system:
I put all of my crates up on the tool bar, they only problem is they all look the same, so I would suggest grouping each kind of crate in with an open slot between them. When you hit the appropriate key, one item gets pulled out of the crate and lands in your main inventory window regardless of where the crate sits. ex. if a crate is in your backpack, the item pulled will still land in your main inventory. Do not pull any tools until after you trade, this will prevent the shifting from happening. This is how I work the process.
Trade
hit F1 for a clamp
hit F5 for a Knife
hit F7 for an AUK
hit F10 for an WUK
Slice an item
pull a set of tools for the next item
Slice
and so on until done
It is still a little extra work, but much more efficient than sliding around your inventory looking for the right crate.

GREAT way to do it !
But as long as i slice crates of weapons, i made a modification

F5 : knives
F6 : AUK/WUK depends what i slice
F7 : Clamp
F8 : Crate of weapond/armor

Good point, i don't have to put my tool crates in my top inventory, everything remains in the pocket in my backpack
Good point 2 : faster to pull everything from the crates with a single finger

Just make 2 macros and 2 buttons to push depending what your are doing
Macro 2 : pull tools and to-slice-in-crate-item
Macro 1 : Pull knive and Macro 2

First slice : hit Macro 1 button
Next 4 slices, hit macro 2 button

When we are dumped through garbage ramp, we smuggler always find a way to get it out !

The ONLY viable solution is for the developers to get off their butts, stop breaking stuff that shoudln't be broken, and stop lying to us.

Good idea, but one question-

I always store all my slicing tools in a droid so they don't take up space and don't decay (people always get a kick out of me pulling out a WED treadwell droid named Mr-Slice). Is there any way i can adapt this to work when my tools are in my droid? What happens if i call my droid, drag the tools to my toolbar, store him, and try hitting the toolbar button?

It may just work.. but it may call the crate from the droid into your inventory.

Tell me if this works, its a great idea.

hmm... an interesting idea indeed... (wish i had thought of that instead of doing it the hard way) however since i dont slice much for cash... it wont really make a HUGE difference in speed... still a great idea nonetheless

You can add things stored in a droid to your tool bar.

However, when using the item the first time, it gets moved from your droid(even if the droid is stored) into top level inventory.

Wow...well...to be honest I was upset about the autopull being nerfed...but I've been slicing a lot more lately since they nerfed it (just for monetary reasons), and it's not THAT big of a pain. One thing that I've learned is organization helps a lot in slicing. Since I am one who believes that if you die and your tools decay, they won't perform as well ( don't ask me to explain, just my opinion), I tend to use a Fugitive Tracker Droid w/ a +10 storage system in him. I named mine (Slice-Bot) and I pull him out anytime I slice something. I keep my crates of AUKs, WUKs, Knives, Clamps, as well as 9k of high conductivity cooper for crafting clamps and knives in a jam. Opening him up and getting the crates costs me about 5 sec of time, but I don't have to look all over my inventory...they're sitting right there at the bottom of my inventory either in front of the armor/weapons needing to be sliced or after, depending on when I traded and pulled. I double click, and slice on. Charging more is crazy...2k per weapons, 2.5k per armor...always has been that price since Slicer, and I've kept it that way since I've been a Master Smuggler...35% damage slice or 17% speed slice, 2k...(of course, most people tip you more for the 35% :smileyvery-happy Just my 2 cents, didn't know if you had tried this or not.

I sent an email to a few smugglers I know in game explaining this more in depth so... heres the rough copy of the emails.

The new publish has nerfed us slicing... we now have to manually pull all of our slicing tools from the crate instead of slicing automatically doing so.

An easy way to change this, choose 4 empty spots on a toolbarpane. I used toolbar pane 6. Place your crates of Molecular clamps, AUK's WUK's and PLK's in the 4 empty slots. I used toolbarSlots f1, f2, f3, and f4.

I put MC's in F1, AUK's in F2, WUK's in F3, and PLK's in F4

Now you can set up an alias...

/alias auk /ui action toolbarPane05;/ui action toolbarSlot00;/ui action toolbarSlot01
/alias wuk /ui action toolbarPane05;/ui action toolbarSlot00;/ui action toolbarSlot02
/alias plk /ui action toolbarPane05;/ui action toolbarSlot03

This way, when you type /auk it will spit out one MC and one AUK instantly... you can even put the crates in your backpack and not have to worry about opening your backpack and manually clickin the crates.

I made a macro that will take out 5 AUK's and 5 MC's plus a PLK in one click.

The following macro is a macro I titled auk.

/ui action toolbarPane05;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot01;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot01;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot01;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot01;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot01;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot03;

With the macro above, I can type /macro auk or drag the macro icon to my toolbar and just click it or hit the appropriate fkey and it will activate the macro.

The following macro I titled wuk

/ui action toolbarPane05;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot00;
/ui action toolbarSlot02;
/pause .25;
/ui action toolbarSlot03;

With the macro above I can type /macro wuk or click the appropriate macro button and deliver 5 wuk's, mc's and one plk.

This is a GREAT aid for bulk slicing... every five items I can type /macro wuk or click the button and be set...

Just remember... we got use to slicing a way that was bugged. The "nerf" of the slicing tools being removed automatically is actually a fix for something we all got used to which was broken... Just because the Dev's did this is by no means a reason to leave the profession.

We are smugglers. With the onslaught of fixes and obstacles, we, the smugglers, will always overcome.

INCREDIBLE idea! I had taken to asking what I was slicing, then double-clicking the clamp and kit crates to get the right number out. Pain in the butt! This will save TONS of time! Thank you

I've pretty much stopped playing the slice monkey. pretty much only for my closest friends. but most of them i don't need to, they're all smugglers too lol. got a bh friend of mine that has promised to keep an eye on the mission terminals for me incase i get my sorry butt on the bh list under the new revamp when it is released. in return, i slice all his gear for him.keep your friends close, your enemies closer, and for friendly enemies as close as you can.

I've gotten so used to just double-clicking to take something out of a crate now it doesn't bother me as much. I already got too many macros cluttering my hot keys already, heh
