Wow! Not only am I impressed with all the time it took to figure this out, but to post it as well is honestly amazing! I wanted to thank you for the insight on the macros.
I am new to the forums, but not to the game asI am a 1yr. plus veteran to SWG and go by the "handle" of LordDrew", but I believe it appears as only "Drew". I am on the Nartius server and live just outside of Cornet. Please, if you are on the same server, "tell" me sometime. I would love the interaction w/others of the greatest profession in the galaxy!
Thanx again, and hope to hear from you soon!
MTFBWY!

One thing that I've learned is organization helps a lot in slicing. Since I am one who believes that if you die and your tools decay, they won't perform as well ( don't ask me to explain, just my opinion), I tend to use a Fugitive Tracker Droid w/ a +10 storage system in him. I named mine (Slice-Bot) and I pull him out anytime I slice something. I keep my crates of AUKs, WUKs, Knives, Clamps, as well as 9k of high conductivity cooper for crafting clamps and knives in a jam. Opening him up and getting the crates costs me about 5 sec of time, but I don't have to look all over my inventory...they're sitting right there at the bottom of my inventory either in front of the armor/weapons needing to be sliced or after, depending on when I traded and pulled. I double click, and slice on. Charging more is crazy...2k per weapons, 2.5k per armor...always has been that price since Slicer, and I've kept it that way since I've been a Master Smuggler...35% damage slice or 17% speed slice, 2k...(of course, most people tip you more for the 35% :smileyvery-happyJust my 2 cents, didn't know if you had tried this or not.
Hey why do you use high conductivity copper to make your tools? I'm pretty sure quality of the slicing tools makes no difference.

Thanks a lot!
I am grinding Slicing IV and the pulling stuff from crates thing was getting old real quick.

A dev posted a while back confirming there is no difference from quaility of tools.

I would like to add my own addition to this thread's suggestion.
[EDIT: looks like Nicolas_Frost beat me to this first bit! ] I have learned that items in a droid storage module are treated by the tool bar as still on your person, that is, they persist in the toolbar even after the droid has been stored. I discovered this when mapping my armor to my toolbar. On the first press of the corrisponding hot key for an item in the droid, the default is to place the itemin inventory. The second hit of the hotkey will default to the first radial option once the item is in inventory. In the case of pulling items, one can simply load up all crates from the storage droid into 10 hotkeys of a toolbar pane. As the session wears on, you simply hit a new button to pull a new crate from the droid, then hit it again to pull an item from that crate.
In addition to this, and exceedingly usefull for those of us already full-up on hotkeys, droid storage inventory screens persist long after the droid has been stored, so long as you do not use a shuttle or clone (load). My current system is to call my droid, open its inventory, store the droid, and alt back to mouse look for the duration of my visit to a region. Whenever the call for slicing comes, I can easily load anything i need from the droid without ever needing to call it, and store it all again should I be finished slicing for a while.
EDIT:Last slice tip- stole this one from the crafting macros. Using the Control Panel in Windows, you can access your mouse properties. In many of the newer mice (possibly older too) you can remap one of the buttons to "double-click"! I personaly chose the upper thumb button on my InteliMouse as I spend very little time surfing "forward" through web pages I have just hopped back from (the default setting).

Neat idea I must admit.
Could even work up a macro so that you only click the macro, it hits all the toolbar slots specified and drops the items into your inventory.

I hate to say this but has anyone just decided to pull the items out of the crate before slicing. I know it sucks that we cant auto pull clamps and upgrade kits while slicing but overall its not that big of a deal. If you dont have space for three extra items then you have inventory problems and you need to delete something or place items in a house or bank. If its the time problem then there is a lot of stuff to complain about like how they make you wait for shuttles and how we waste a lot of time doing nothing in this game(a friend who has watched me play this game told me the other day that it looks like all that I do is run around in the game).

Dont mind me and I know I am a little late in saying this but seriously there are worse things that can happen. Lets push for the smuggler revamp rather than getting back some ability to pull things out of a crate by clicking on a option to apply a molecular clamp.

Zander - sure there are other issues that are needed. But we just want to be sure that all issues are taken care of when a revamp occurs. Would stink if the revamp only fixed 50% of the things we need.
We need Auto-pull, well I need it. When a friend hands you a pack of 30 Locked containers, then for some of us there maybe a problem. So I equip my pack, put everything in it. Just to have barely enough room to trade, then pull clamps and knives out slicing a couple at a time. I would love to leave this junk in my house. But I have several toolchests with lots of tools. And sadly a toolchest with 20 items still counts as 21 items in a house. Which is stupid cause an expensive Med House (on my budget) only holds 150, which is nothing.

I've been doing hundreds of slices in the week or two that I've been a Smuggler - and to be honest, its really no big deal to pull items from crates. I have one satchel in my backpack for WUK and AUK, and one satchel for PLK/MC. Both satchels are on my toolbar and all I do is push Shift and F3/F4 to open them as needed (opens on the right hand side of my screen, with main inventory on the left) then double click the crates to get the items I need.

I hate it. It clutters up my inventory, I've always got some odd tools lying around and they take up space.
