Thread: A Poll On Smuggling and Risk
Tyrannux, I'm not arguing with you on this point. To you, and San too, really, I'd say the same thing: this poll doesn't qualify HOW smuggling could be, fun or boring. I'm not guessing or qualifying. Obviously if it was "fun" you'd say yes. If it were boring, you'd say "no." I understand that. I'm saying all things being equal, and it is equally likely to be boring or fun. Even ground.
So far I've got LOTS of yeses, many of them qualified, and one no. Please, keep voting.
Yes
The answer is obvious; without risk it wouldn't be smuggling now would it ![]()
Since this is a player economy, selling expensive spices needs them to be powerful. Nobody is going to spend lots of cash if spices aren't any better than legal goods.
Umm... I'd even be so bold as to say, take away slicing and making spices, just let me smuggle for players!
Well I don't really know anything about San other than he is the former smuggler correspondant. After reading his posts recently in another smuggler board thread, I really don't want to know him either. Idon't know what his problem but he certainly needs to exercise a little self-control.Anyways, Ihave read some of the arguments and I have thought about them, I read the question you provided in the poll and I decided (for myself) that my answer would be no. The second post wasto answer the question of another poster who asked me what else would smugglers do if they didn't transport goods.
First of all, JTGA, thanks for even posing this question.
Second, with a MMORPG this complex, it would be wrong to just say yes or no. So I'll keep my qualifiers short.
My Instinct says a big "right-before-orgasm" YES!
My Reason agrees with those who have said that the "contraband" has to worth the risk and big money. Rightnow theSpices, Sliced Armor, and Weapons aren't worth paying for to be smuggled and/or taking a fall for (and, oh yes, there's no "fall" either, yet, but I'm still hoping on that).
And for those that say Solo was no real smuggler (sorry again for the debate, JTGA), they should pay little attention to the movies and recent books, but instead check out "The Han Solo Adventures" by Brian Daley, copyright 1979 - 1980, Del Rey Books, ISBN 0-345-39442-9.
In it, he and Chewbacca are true MF'ing hustlaz on the realness !

Currently, No. To me, smuggler would become *very* boring if it became a muling profession for other people (Like the crackdown almost did, before the changes). Truely, "smuggling" (As the word is used to alot of folk here) is holding people's stuff and going from pointA to point B with.. with20-30% chance of getting caught. Whoopiee! Ain't that exciting and fun? I'm not mocking anyone here, it's just that I believe the smuggler will become more "useful", "needed", etcin the Space Expansion.
Also.. the crackdown would've been perfect for SE IMHO.
