So the question? Many people have argued that smuggling needs a risk. Many others have said that said risk would hurt business. The poll is would you accept a hit to your sales of spices and sliced weapons if it meant really smuggling (moving illegal goods from point a to point b) for players for money?

Yes

Short answer Yes.

However, I have yet to see a system that is realistically designed not to punish 95% of the player base so smugglers can have fun. If we are to smuggler for the players, it will have to be a new product, and it will have to be somehting avilible only via Smugglers that we get from some outside-normal-channels system. Be it spice from Kessel, or vine coffee from some back woods planet in the fringe.

What do you think smuggling is if you don't want to do delivery?

My vision of smuggler is more like Robert Heinlein's Friday than Han Solo.

I say yes. I really hope that when the space expansion comes out, it will add more depth to this profession.

I canenvision lots of smuggling and underworld types of features that do notessentially involvea glorified rehashing of the boring delivery style missions already in the game.Having them come from players instead of terminals, I don't see as being any real kind of improvement. If you don't agree fine, but my 'vote' on the question polled is still NO.

Yes.

And if the rest of the playerbase wouldn't accept risk attached to their wonderful sliced gear, then I'd be in favor ofmagically rolling back all weapons to their presliced stats, banningsliced gear from being traded (ie, making it Smuggler-only, since Smugglers don't seem risk-averse and can deal with this), andstarting from scratch. I want tough, universally-applicablepenalties attached to owning spice and sliced weapons. I want everyone to sweat a little bit wverytime they leave their homes with contraband. If contraband scan risk reduces business, I could care less, because this game isn't just about making credits or holding everybody's hand. Smuggling should be the riskiest profession out there, period.
