- I support NO DECAY.It should be run like EQ . No 20k price cap on the bazar and everyone can craft. Its has worked for 7 years on everquest and there is no decay plenty of money and no crazy prices.

Decay is only good for crafteres and bad for everyone else.

Not to say that Concussion Shot doesn't need to be changed, or that its new version isn't going to be useful in its way. But it is, at best, a lateral move, probably a backwards move, and I just don't think it's good policy to go in with a nerf of the one overpowered move while neglecting the half dozen underpowered moves. How long do you think it will be before we see improvements to our other admittedly lackluster skills?

That's what gets me about this news.

Nice work though, Fishy, some of that was pretty cool. And even when it's bad news, it's better than no news.

So ConcussionShot is changing to a rooting pre-CU PanicShot ,while PanicShot remains a LowBlow-lite delay shot and LowBlow is half what it should be...what a load of pap



Wes, press for the rooting mez shot to be PanicShot, for LowBlow to be a KD and snare and make ConcussionShot the attack delay. Thatmakes much more sense to me, and improves usin CC without making us invincible.

I'm with Keck on this one guys. I am happy they are changing it to what te description says.

Root is a popular move these days so chances are most groups will have a pistoleer or a rooting jedi. The use I see for this is to keep my group alive by being able to control the extra mobs ranged and melee by dropping a mez on them.

the PvP effect I see on this change is devastating if its used right:

I'm in a PvP group of 8 people all are 'assist'ing through me. I use Concussion shot with my LBC(smuggler/commando) on an enemy group of players. Now, as long as my group has the disipline to only attack my target that is 1 enemy player shooting at us while 7 sit there on time out for 30 seconds and watch thier friend Die, knowing that one of them will be next.

Losing the root isn't as devastating as it seems. If anything it allows Melee Tanks to fulfill thier role, which they havn't been able to since no one needs them when they can root.

I don't know if I can stand being stepped in the mud again, it's always just 1 or 2 patches away...

Back on publish 6 it was publish 8, publish 9 was GCW. But that changed....

So I read a nerfherder's sumamry of FF so far and decided to come here and see what's being said.


I must say that I'm disturbed by both. On one hance the herder's summary says Smuggler, Ranger, and SL getting revamps in that order, but now it appears that we won't be getting too much devoted to us.


The herder says that we are getting a new mini game for slicing and MAYBE some quests. Knowing we won't get devoted publishes, but a little over SEVERAL publishes worries me about this comment.


The herder says root is now not working properly and is going to be "fixed" so it won't be as powerful. Now I come here and find out concussion shot is going to be "fixed" but they don't have a word on plans on what to do to make our profession what it's supposed to be in the CC area.


Spices are not going to be looked at for a very long time even thought they acknowledge many spices are made either useless or redundant by higher level spices.



Summary of it all:


HOW THE HELL IS THIS GOING TO BE CALLED A REVAMP?!?!?!


What I'm now seeing is less of a revamp and more of a CU fix to the non combat portion of our profession while ignoring the combat portion.



I said it before, and I'm gonna say it again. They better make sure they get this one right or a lot of people are out of here. They're talking about "Nerfherder Love" and a specific patch AGAIN already. That better not mean that once again our development is being cast aside or we're not getting the resources we DESERVE because the most powerful profession in the game still isn't powerful enough.



"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

No matter what they are going to do... i have the bad feeling that we will get shafted again. And the worst part about it? We cant do anything to prevent this, because SOE gives a sh!t about us or our profession. I am realy tired that i have to step back all the time for the Glow D!ldo wielders.

As far as the Revamp goes, I know I'm past the stage of complaining. I'll simply see what they offer us, and if it isn't up to what I'd expect [which is a grossly unambitious abortion of a smuggling minigame], I'll walk, minimal fuss.

i see we're going back and forth on the issue of Concussion shot. so i figured i'd chime in cause i got somethin to say about it.


the way i see it. if they do fix Concussion shot, so that it becomes a true Mezz, i don't see that as being a big problem.


it will still be very useful in PvE and PvP. it will essentially turn your target into a statue for 30 seconds! that means no moving, no shooting, no healing!


in 1 vs 1 PvP, you can use that time for a number of things. you can slap a big heal on yourself (your enemy CAN'T heal). you could like someone said earlier, whip out a bomb droid and kaboom! you canchange weapons.verbally taunt your enemy so theyget all mad and lose focus. take a quick nap.grab something to eat. tell a passerby howhot your enemy's mom is.or you gan get the hell outta dodge.


in group PvP it's still useful! you can lay this bad boy statue-maker on one enemy after another taking each TOTALLY out of combat. so that your group will be able to pick off one enemy at a time.Mezz their Mezzers, then Mezz their Healers, and they're up sh!t's creek!


now. as for our other abilities. i agree, they need to be worked with severely. because fixing Concussion shot alonewill neither raise nor lower us from a 2 or 3 in crowd control.


- Slow Blow should become Low Blow again, and Joras i really suggest you demonstrate to a devwhy

in other words Low Blow should be a kickass move that should KD and slow our target's attack speed by a PERCENTAGE!

this -40 crap makes no sense. if someone's attack speed is 120 - 130(which most hardcore PvPers will be around) -40 only brings them down to 80 or 90. that's not much of a difference really.

Low Blow (in addition to a KD) should lower the target's attack speed by at least50%! maybe even by 66% so that they're shooting at 1/3 their normal rate.


- in addition to Concussion shot being a Mezz, i think we SHOULD get a Root shot as well. now it is a little unfair to be able toRoot someone for 30 - 40 seconds while you blast away onthem. soit should be on par with Stopping shot from Pistoleer in that it does NOT break on damage, but it has a short timer of about 15 seconds. i vote for Panic shot to become our Root.


- an AoE attack. Smuggler needs some sort of area attack to raise our Crowd Control number. i think that Panic shot could make a good candidate for an AoE Root attack, so that it's not redundant with Stopping shot from Pistoleer.

i think making concussion shot more of a paralyse is great for groups.. especially small ones. just as long as there isnt a period of time after it breaks that it wont stick again


Also agree with everyone who asked for better other abilities including a true root and kd

I don't think things might be as bad as they seem. I'm going to try and track down Dave White today and get some more specifics.
