Are you just failing to feign death repeatedly or are you assuming it isn't working because it doesn't happen immediately.
In the case of the latter, you've got to remember that FD goes into your combat queue. So clear that before using FD for faster results. Make a macro of it.
In the case of the former, how many times did you try it, how high is your Feign Death skill mod, and how difficult were the creatures/NPCs that you were fighting? If you have only Dirty Fighting 1 and you're fighting Nightsisters, then of course you're going to fail. You've got to provide us with some specifics so we an validate or reject your assertion.

If you're about to feign(not have it qued, but you actuallyget the message "You prepare to feign death"), but take enough damage to be capped, you will both feign death and go incapacitiated. You just can't do anything untill your HAM heals up.

i have a macro for it and ive tried it 2 ways since i notice that peace goes quicker.....but feigndeath is not working its getting qued up in my combat que and says u are preparing to feigndeath and i just get hit and hit without feigning......it has been tested by some of my friends all of us have tried 20 times since i know that sometimes feigndeath does not work all the time but out of 20 it has not gone off that is really weird. oh i do have a jedi but my bh has pistoleer bh pistols and smuggler pistols thats who im using it on.

Talk to a CSR to see if that's what's happened to your character.
But, keep in mind, if you regularly and purposefull go Link Dead while feigning, expect this to happen again.

You can always go get dbd by another player sometimes that will reset it, or you can wait till a server reset. You might also look for a server line to cross. Alot of things can unbug bugs.
Though the fact that you and a few friends are haveing the same problem. Tells me you are a jedi. A few guys just happening to be smugglers, and all of you being bugged at the same time. Nah A bh came bursting in on you and all you guys wimped out and FD on him, and he probabally punished you ala blackbarring.
If your a padawan just take the lump. You need to stop being visible and pve away from other players. Not infront of them.
By the way intentionally LDing while feighned is exploiting. The escape command was built for players. That got locked up, or were severely bugged. Like the guy who destroyed his house and was stuck in midair unable to move. It was not intended to be used while in combat, or in FD. It was designed so that people didnt have to unhook their connection or turn off their pc.
Just like the guys who abused the /activateclone command. A command designed to allow a player that bugged in cloneing to clone again so they might standup and move. Unfortunately they used it to clone in place and stand right back up on the spot.

Like was mentioned, if you go LD while feigning, and your character unloads from the game world, you can be bugged sothat you can't Feign any more. Doesn't matter if you quit on purpose or crashed to the desktop.

i
wasnt playing my jedi but i was crystal hunting....since i have over 200 ppl in my friends list and have been in the game a long time i do know a few smugglers. im not a moron and dont presume to tell me i was exploiting. i dont even know u can exploit this or how u exploit this. but my guildies over over 100 there are bound to be more than 1 smuggler with feigndeath. i asked them to try and they get the same result as i did i havent tried today but dont say hey your a jedi and u are exploiting especially since u are on a different server than i am.

You said you were a Jedi in this post. The title of the thread is "new jedi looking for advice", and the creator was you.
Now that we have solid proof that you are a Jedi, and that LD'ing while FD causes this bug, your word is a little harder to believe.
I will, however, consider that you were hunting for crystals with your non Jedi character. I don't know how to unbug FD personally, but I would try the suggestions above.

are you a moron or just pissed off that i have a jedi? my other character as stated above has the template of master pistoleer smuggler 0/0/4/0 bh 3/0/4/0 i was crystal hunting and since i have no medic i feigndeath to be able to heal i asked to see if it had broken on other or if i was bugged.

no, he is NOT a moron. The problem is non-smugglers who have the dirty fighting tree just to have FD are really annoying us TRUE smugglers. I don't mind non-smugglers using FD, but you are jedi, No one else is having a FD problem, and we get really personal about jedi exploiting our skills causing the devs to (probably) nerf one of the few that we DO have.
Please understand, nothing against you personally, but Jedi/BH are our worst enemies. Even the smugglers with a jedi don't like most, not the people exactly, but it's annoying that a profession that was barely in the game at launch has gotten 10,000% more attention than smuggler, which has been broken since launch.
