The way I see my character is when he's "working" for the Empire he isthe unit's scrounger. I mean just because the Empire has all the cool toys doesn't mean the front line troops always have the tools they need. Plus imperials get the desk asa faction perk.

Exaclty. I used to play an Imperial Colonel Smuggler. The idea is that I would get the best weapons and armor for my toops, as well as be able to to enhance their abilites with smuggled spices. Got it keep it on the DL from the higher ups, but I'm going to do whatever I can to save the lives of my men and increase the effectiveness of our unit. Sometimes when we need a base of operations or artillery support, a little bride to my superioirs can go a long way. Its war out there, I'm not letting my buddies die if I can help it.
WOW given out "little Brides" sweet i got a friend "she is Real Little"that could use a imperial green card can you hook her up with one of your suppiors *wink.. I'll pay yeah good too.
Damn straight. It's one of they few working skills we got. It's in the Underworld Pimpin' III box...or something like that.
I also specialize in delivering personnel and materiel to places that don't want it. I can run blockades, slice transponder codes, anything. I am the lynchpin of any covert op. And I fight dirty as hell.
In my off time, I move cargo for people. It's a nice job--solid work. So I don't ask questions about the cargo....so what? Money is money.
And spice is not all illegal. The uncontrolled moving of spice is illegal. Every spice has a real purpose (usually medical, and that includes glitterstim). Who do you think runs the glitterstim mines on Kessel? It sure isn't the Hutts. Here's a hint: the guards wear white.
(( If you look at the descriptions of the spices in game, only two--muon gold and scramjet--are totally banned. The rest are distributed by official Imperial sources for their proper uses. The illegality comes when these spices are not used for their intended purposes, and their distribution is not controlled. It's like moving large amounts of codiene (a narcotic used by doctors to help with pain) without government approval. It'll land you in jail fast. And you won't get your $200 for it. ))

In various SW novels, Imperials utilized the services of smugglers and other unsavory types. An Imperial smuggler would be able to move that shipment of ammo without attracting Rebel observation. MyRP explanation is that all's fair in love and war. If the Rebels employ dirty, underhanded operatives (ie, smugglers), then it's time to fight fire with fire and allow Imperial operatives to do some "freelance" work, assisted by standing orders to patrols to allow an officerof my rank to pass without inspection. If I happen to hook a few people on spice in the process, that's just a bonus. ![]()
What it really boils down to is that there is no one definition of what a smuggler does or how a smuggler acts. Many smugglers would see Solo throwing in with the Rebs as going soft. We all have our own reasons and motivations, we just choose to act in the shadows.
i haven't written anything as i've been trying to sleep off my hangover
that said...an imperial smuggler is still stupid

Name calling is a fantastically effectiveway to support your side in an argument. Wish I'd thought of that.

Yep. I am always looking for the buck and would sell out almost anyone for the right price. When i wear my stormie armor, its all about the battle for peace and order, but once that armor comes off ( and it doesnt go on too often ) its all about the money and satsfaction i get out of undercutting/backstabbing/undermining the system. I never wear my faction rank. When I am factioned up for the evening, i switch to another tag and turn off search because for that tiem I am doing my official job. Any other time, i am doing what i can to be as greasy and despicable as possible.
Permanent mood /cocky

I get a LOT of compliments on that one, and standing in Coronet as a combatant is interesting, being mere meters away from aggroing Rebels. When I do my faction selling, I always do it in Theed. Though Imperials own theed on Naritus, I find the adrenaline rush of declaring out in the open like that addictive. Seeing that red dot shuttle in and burstrunning or hopping a bike to avoid the numerous reb jedi, WHEW! I have cloned a few times, and a few times I got away. Now THAT makes it worth it to be a smuggler for me.

Maybe I missed my callingand should have become anEnglish teacher or something.
Anyway, on the thread topic--I, too, don't think it is so silly for smugglers to be included at all. You can play an imperial smuggler from the angle of:
- A shady character who is looking out for the common guy in a world full of corruption. Not above using bribes to help out people he likes, and not above selling information to get rid of people he doesn't like.
- A high ranking officer's "field procurement specialist." Knows how to talk the talk, walk the walk, and get needed equipment, supplies, and such from the locals near the front lines.
- A "high risk delivery specialist" who is responsible for surgical drops of strike teams.
- A corrupt dealer whosteals and wholesales shipments ofships, weapons, and other goods in order to advance his personal fortune.
- A covert operative whosteals and wholesales shipments ofships, weapons, and other goods in order to advance the fortunes of his faction.
And plenty of other stuff that I can't think of right now, I'm sure.
