Thread: an Imperial Smuggler in full 'troopa garb?
I'm not an Imperial Smuggler, I'm a 'Creative Aquisitions Specialist'aka the best supply officer a unit could want... providing you're willing to look the other way. Sort of like Tony Curtis' character in the 1959 Carrie Grant movie "Operation Pettycoat."
You want a promotion? I'll grease the right wheels to get you all the way up the ladder.
You want a contract to produce Imperial-issue armor? I'll get your applicationapproved post-haste.
You want uniforms/furnature/arms? I'll get 'em for you if the price is right.
You need that spice fix? I can get that for you, but you never met me.
Yourgearneeds some 'special modifications'? Trust me, that Imperial anti-tampering junk is easy enough to bypass.
See, the beaurocracy in the Empire is so corrupt and soobstructivethat you need a guy like me to make things happen. Just as long as we understand each other: I'm here to make a profit, not be your best pal. Unless, of course, you're my superior officer. Then I can do some stuff 'for the good of the Empire.' After all, I don't wannaspend my 'retirement' from the Imperial Armed Forcesin the Spice Mines of Kessel. Just don't look too hard in the cargo hold oftheDecimator I flew in on. It'll be better for all of us if the'miscillanious supplies'are kept under wraps.
From a strictly SW standpoint, I don't think that Smugglers should be either Reb or Imp. It just doesn't fit.
From a SWG standpoint, I can see how someone could fit it into their roleplay or their character bio.
From a gaming standpoint, I could care less. Do what you want to do.
That being said... my Smuggler is a Rebel Colonel... can't say no to the big bucks of selling FP and faction perks.
Maybe it makes me a hypocrite, but I just don't give a flying fynock.
I can see Smugglers working for the rebels. After all the rebels are in great need of Smuggler Services. Why not join the rebellion and work in their favor?
Many Smugglers may be in it for the money. But others are also in it for the cause. Or just only for the cause.
A rebel Smuggler could be seen as part of a secret supply officer... Someone throw me another acronym that military would use to cover up "Smuggler"
transport specialist?

Umm.. Vader didn't use Spice on her.
That's like saying that a Doctor prescribed heroin to cure your herpes.
There is a big difference between pharmaceutical drugs and recreational drugs.

NO he used spice, it is a fact, it was a mind altering spice as stated in "Heir to the Empire" which is widely reconized as a legit star wars refrance.

ooops for got to say: there is a big diffrance from recreational drugs and pharmaceutical
like what? name some? i actualy beleave most are used as an either or kinda deal and at one time heroin, though never heard of its herpis effect.. any way just name some that can not be at one point in history be labeled a pharmaceutical, cocain? weed? opium (i still cant rap my head around the spelling) ? chrystyl? speed? heroin? X-tacy is about the only one that i can think of on my side but you also have--- oxy cotton, codean, kalotopians. i cant spell half of um but you see the picture.
AND if you do go by the movies "old schooler" how can you discredit me cause in the movie it does not say.. for all we know from the movie that needle was just for intemadation not anything to do with phermaceuticals at all.. and "HttE" is about as close to non EU as you can get in the EU saying that it was approved by lucas after reading it. much like um... the eps.5 and 6
In the movies, when you see the Interrogation Droid floating into the cell with that big-ass needle, you just knew that Leia was about to get pumped full of some nasty crap. It naturally brings to mind the drugs that certain Intelligence agencies use as "Truth Serum". It doesn't make you think that Vader is about to "hook her up" with some really good dope.
As far as George Lucas and the EU... well, you just have to take that with a grain of salt. GL said that Boba Fett died in the Sarlacc pit, but in the EU he escaped, was kinda screwed up for about a year, and got back to his life.
As far as GL is concerned, the movies are Star Wars Canon. Period. The books and the EU are more like "it could have happened this way" or "this might have happened like this" or "you could use this story to explain why this happened in this particular way in the movie".
As far as the difference between pharmaceutical drugs and recreational ones.... try these. Wellbutrin, penicillin, vaccines, etc... vs. Crack, Extasy, PCP, etc... Kinda self-explanatory.

I just finished reading that series for the 3rd time and I do not recall it mentionning anything about a spice used on Princess Leia.
Please post a quote if you can back it up (page numbers will help mate).
