Thread: wave goodbye to the triple master....
Also, anyone else have the sneaking suspicion that Spices are going to be the "associated buffs" that work on the Wind Up and Cool Down times of special moves? This would likely give them market value again, without in essence nerfing Chef's current market.
This seems reasonable to me, as you could develop spices with several differnt combonations of positive effects and negative effects. For instance, Shadowpaw might reduce WindUp times by 20% while increasing Cool Down times by 20%. ThrusterHead might also reduce WindUp by 20% but might double the special's effect on your Mind and Action pools. Muon could reduce WindUp and Cool Down by 40% at the expense of weapons accuracy AND Mind/Action pools. Using spices would then be beneficial again, yet you're forced to make more tatcial decisions about when and what to use.
The Ranged-Support branch better be worthwhile finally if every ranged-profession is going to be needing it.
If i read the range thing correctly, the standard attack will only work up to 64m range. That imples that there will be Specials (i.e. Rifle specials) that allow you to hit a target beyond that range.
I'm interested in seeing the new weapon system. The "Energy/Kinetic-plus" damage types. Looks to me like, with only a few exceptions, ranged weapons would be Energy-plus output while melee would be Kinetic-plus output. If this is the case, it appears if you see a rifleman after you you want to put on recon armor, and if a TKM is after you you should use assault armor. If this is the case, players are going to want to balance their template with one ranged and one melee profession in their arsenal.

the sandbox has yet to start. Hence, the HUGE amout of concern that Drev and I have expressed.
Pessimistic prediction: It will all look great in the sandbox, except a few minor things that only the most dedicated testers will notice due to the lack of time. When it hits live, everything will still look great at first, but exploits, stacking possibilities and ubertemplates will be found out within a few weeks, and we'll be back where we started, only with a much more everquesty feel to the game.
Remember folks..this is where this word came from..add it to your MMORPG lexicon ![]()
Well..guess I am kissing my Trip Threat good bye...what to get now...

looks like I'll be returning to a pure pistol template.....
Personaly I'm glad. I'm not a Smuggler because I want the best combat template in the game. I'm a Smuggler cause I want to be a smuggler, cause I want to be a pirate, cause I want to smuggle. The only reason I had TKM was cause it was the only way I could use up all my SP and have 3 master (I could have gone commando but that was even more un smuggler like in my mind)
With the new in concept Smuggler info we got I personaly don't care about loosing TKM. I'm already in heaven if the in concept Smuggler stuff goes live.

I only took up Triple Threat because TKM is such a good PvE and PvP profession, as compared to Pistoleer which is utterly useless. And I've always said that if they sorted Pistoleer out, I'd drop TKM, so losing those madkarate skillz means nothing to me.
Of course we haven't seen any info on it yet but I have a feeling that Pistoleer may be a bit more usefull in the CU then it is now.
Maybe we'll go from being slightly stronger then a buterfly to being as strong as a Pharble.
One can only hope.
I hope we're not a super-badas$ combat profession post-CURB. Seriously.
Although i can understand the adding 2h to TKM and the rest, i think this has been mooted only as a compromise measure. Realistically, dropping Pikes from the game and adding an equivalent of the Ranged Support line to Brawler would have made a lot more logical sense - falls, tumbles, breaking holds, maybe - or integrating the 1h and 2h lines possibly, which would still leave both Swordsman and Fencer professions available and save Pikeman from the chop. Oh, by the way, Pikemen should have the longest melee range. Wouldn't you agree?
However, we're always going to be fairly low-powered as a hybrid profession. Unless the SP requirememnts for Novice professions have changed radically - and i could see the benefit in changing them to 6-cost while Elites take the 16-cost hit - we need a total of 38sp just to qualify for smuggler while any combat stacker worthy of the name will probably manage to grab two Elites for a basic investment (novice boxes) of 28sp.
In some respects, this is as it should be. The only reason we've been so bitter about our lack of combat-worthiness in the past was the immense amount of pistol grind required balanced against the utter lack of anything to do with it and no damn' smuggling.
As for how it'll all work out and how much fun it'll be, as was said, we can only hope.

I think I might. Its not a matter of being elite for me...I just don't like floating skill points (those 3 left used to drive me nuts
