Thread: wave goodbye to the triple master....

is it just me or does this once again feel like something that hasn't been thought through entirely?
Nope, it's not just you. I'd be a lot more optimistic if they did this as a rebalance/upgrade of the current system instead of reinventing it completely by borrowing concepts from fantasy games.

Looks like we wasted 6 months for the devs to do what they damn well pleased anyway. I'm sure we'll get to test SOMETHING before it makes it to live, but at this late date, I doubt any feedback we could provide would come in time to make any real changes...
Ah well...to respond to the original post, it looks like I'll be re-specing to an "all pistols" template...Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer/BH Pistol 4 will still leave me 3 points in the new system...assuming I've done my math right.
I have to say the changes do look interesting. I was very surprised about not being able to triple master, though I'm not too sure whether I welcome it or not as it hasn't really sunk in yet. Looks like bye bye TKM and hello BH Pistols!

Pessimistic prediction: It will all look great in the sandbox, except a few minor things that only the most dedicated testers will notice due to the lack of time. When it hits live, everything will still look great at first, but exploits, stacking possibilities and ubertemplates will be found out within a few weeks, and we'll be back where we started, only with a much more everquesty feel to the game.

Pretty good summary of my thoughts at the moment.

Even if it is a more everquesty system, its a badly needed system. I'm about as "optimistic" as most but they do need to overhaul the game. They do have to bite the bullet sometime for the game's sake.

So what happens if you're a Master TK and this goes live without already having 4 boxes of 2H Sword?
Do they strip you of TK and dump all your excess exp so you have to go through the whole thing again?
And they lowered the prereqs for BH...that SUCKS.
Since there's a free "re-spec" anyway, I assume anyone with added prerequisites will have some kind of "forced re-spec". That's just a guess mind you, but sounds sensible.
The BH is an odd one. Unless BH is being redone from the ground up, it would be really odd to have no pistol or carbine skills from Marksman andyet be a BH, unless they're just takingthe professionfor the missions. Although the lowered prerequisites for BH seem to open up the door to melee BHs, that might not be a problem when melee gets cut down to size.

Wonder will it be possible to Master smuggler and BH then.
Yes, you can.
I'm upset that tripple master will be going away, not just because of the things it enables me to do in live and would enable me to do post AsCU, but also because it's become an interwoven part of my character. However, in order to have a fun and balanced combat system, where everyone has a role that is worth something, I guess some sacrafices have to be made; being able to tripple master combat professions is one of them.
As for testing, I'm also worried that we havn't started yet, especially with the deadline looming over the CU like an ISD over a Corellian Corvette; hopefully the internal testing plus our testing will be enough. If it's not, then at least the sandbox will still exist and further tweaking and development can likey carry on in that enviroment, but that's obviously far from the ideal situation.
