Excellent work, GreenMarine. At least now we can see where the devs are looking as to player bounties and such.

I was thinking that doing smuggler missions should earn you faction. If you are doing it for jabba, then Jabba faction. The reasoning is if you do decide to steal something at some point (it was too hard to resist!) you should be able to work off the visibility in some way. Although if your visibility goes up a lot and you do a mission it should be reduced by a very small margin. It shouldn't be easy to make Jabba happy if you are caught cheating him, of course.

In your example of the Smuggling mission the payout is 12k. In about the same amount of time it would take me to do that mission I can slice a mission terminal and run a rancor mission for 50k. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea but will the payout be better than your example?

It's just a random number for the sake of example. From now on, I'll just put in X and Y instead of numbers if that would make you feel better!

GM, this is very much the concept that many of us had in mind when we first heard the word contraband. To me this is a system that I can support wholly. However, I anticipate some roadblocks from the community and your fellow designers. The categorization of items in the contraband tree will be a subject of much contention from the community. From there, the dependence upon smugglers to move said items will again be seen as decreasing the fun factor of the community, even though it finally adds some to us. In addition to the technological challenges, I fear that you will have to face even more difficult challenges from the vocal minority on the boards and, in turn, the lead designer who seems to inevitably cave in to their desires. If we can win that battle, I will be most happy.

Green could you give us a better idea of what items would fall into each contraband category?

Maybe lower tier spices fall into the first category, sliced items and higher tiered spices in the second, and the new components and spices in third? Are faction items included?

I know it is still way early to be discussing things like this but, with visibility, if you get hunted and killed does your visibility go back to 0.

If so, does this also reset your standing with lets say Jabba if you pinched a few things from his cargo earlier?

Green,

Sound good?

I've thought about fines. It might work better if the Stormtroopers requested a fine and you could refuse to pay and fight your way out. High end players would probably prefer to shoot the Stormtroopers instead of paying.

How would this work if I am an Imperial? Under normal circumstances, I can't attack Stormtroopers. Am I forced to pay a fine (credits and/or faction)?

Oh yeah I absolutly agree...which I why I said that in my original post...

Now the question is, should killing ST's after they have found even just "quasi-legal" goods on you (or killing themfor any reason perhaps) increase your visiblity? I would think it should...
