Smuggler,..smuggler,...
So what,..can we have bounty hunter content that isn't Bounty Hunting?
Thats straight bantha poodoo. I flew as a rebel pilot mostly during beta, I am dissappointed at now about going privateer in live.
Before you know it....slicing and Slicing.
<=====Old man of the forum says, " Sure there is big S in the game,...a big steamy pile of S"
Actually, come to think about it, I'm flying the Imperial line for beta and there are missions where you have to disable ships to capturethe person or you have to outright remove them from existance and you do get paid for it. I mean technically, I'm working for the Inquisition but its basically what bounty hunters do.
So what I'm saying is, we aren't the only ones in this boat. Granted I think the smuggling issue seems to be a bit more specific and I not happy with it, but I do have to admit, there are only so many types of content that you can actually do in space.
You can hunt and kill or destroy something, escort or defend something, deliver something, disable and capture something or explore. Thats about it. Thats what the devs have to work with for content for an entire population. In the end, its not much as far as variety. Granted, within those limitations, a lot of content can be produced.
Anyway, I'm not disagreeing with you guys, hell knows I want it to be smuggler specific content. I'm just trying to see it from their point of view.
FD in space.
in-flight repairing ability for smugglers.
Oh, and there was something else... what was it? Oh yes... something to SMUGGLE!!
Being a galactic soldier or a policeman is not the same thing as bounty hunting per se but they do share similarities. I would say the difference there is a bit more subtle as you admit but they don't have you join a BH alliance as a non BH and hunt down a guy using droids or anything....still i do see your point I just don't feel like allowing the logic to calm me down this time.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider SA pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s.
So 'smuggling' is ok to have everyone do, but they're not 'Smuggling'.
Just remember that when you hear other non-Smuggler Privateerstalking about how they did a smuggling run for Jabba....

Yeah, me too.
I'm calling my dentist now to fix my damage...want me to get you an appointment too?

The fact they join the Smuggler's Alliance does not piss me off. They have need for their pirates, their escorts and their general blow-em-up pilots in addition to their smugglers.
So that doesn't bother me.
What bothers me is they have missions in Tier 3 and Tier 4 that have them actually smuggling cargo.
That, is what ticks me off.
Preach on, brotha man!! It also ticks me off that the bait is hanging therem just out of our reach. We can join the Smugglers Alliance, but not as a REAL smuggler...but as a mercenary doing protection missions and destroy mission, etc.
Again, NPC's smugglers got more content in this expansion then we did.
My only hope is the smuggler missions from the space stations they haven't finished coding.

This issuedoes get the blood pressure up. And as often as I have been the gloomy gus of the forum, its done no good. Yelling and screaming at the devs does no good. Cancelling the account does no good, since its a drop in the bucket they won't even notice isn't there anymore. Best you can do is just let it go and realize that we've got no control over a revamp or content for us. We really don't. if we did, with all the griping we've done, we'd be fixed and have mega content by now.
So there are some choices to make.
One is to keep on keepin on, and be patient, to become knocked over with shock when the revamp does hit our profession.
Or, you can find another profession to play that isn't broken like smuggler is, and hope you get some joy from that.
Or, sadly, just say that the frustration isn't worth the money spent and move on.
Its ok to get angry and frustrated, but its getting to the point with a lot of us that we're becoming really unhappy and that isn't healthy. This is a game, and is supposed to be played for fun. If you aren't having fun, its a waste of money.
That all said - I refuse to be as optimistic as Geevo; that's just not right....
I agree. It starts to really make you feel masochistic after awhile. We can b1tch and rant all we want and it wont do any good, but if we sit idly by then nothing will happen either because they won't know we want anything. Quitting doesn't work because they'll just dump the profession if everyone quit it. The only thing we can do is to continue to tell them what we want and wait...which may take a long time but at least its not wasting energy by exploding over something we have no control over. For as much time and dedication we have put into this for the love of the game and the profession, if you're not having fun, it's no longer entertainment. Maybe it's time to move on.
My wife just canceled her account. It's no longer fun for her. Me, I love JtL, so its going to keep me around for awhile...at least until I master Privateer and then a little after. After that, we'll see. If Nothing has really changed by that point then I'll finally throw in the towel. I just see myself waiting around as a master (again) for the next major event, with the same stuff to do over and over in the mean time. I'm tired of the grind but at least JtL will alliviate that for a little while. Okay, maybe its not Smuggler specific content, but I'll make the best of what I've got. I do wish it were otherwise, I love being a Smuggler, but I'm starting to feel like I'm at the end of my SWG lifecycle.
I've been passionate about the Smuggler changes for a long time, but I've gotten so tired of being jaded I've become numb. Eventually, I'm just going to fade away from this but for now I'll take what I can get.
